The pets look well cared for and the staff are knowledgeable about where they have come from and what life they have had. They also sell suitable carry cases and runs for the animals that you can buy. I am very happy to purchase my pet food from there as I know that it hasn't been in the shop long so is fresh for my animals. Prices are very competitive with the larger pet stores that are on offer. It is on a busy main road with extremely limited parking but it is worth the walk from the local main car park.

I feed raw food to the dog and all 5 cats, and they have a great selection here of this. Naturally I did do a bit of a comparison and it turned out to be spot on on price. If you do your homework on bulk and regular items, I think it's about right. Treats and stuff are there or there abouts, but a tad on the high price, mad all the other paraphernalia like cat boxes and toys etc are expensive, so be aware! (Which is why the loss of a star) However, trade all this off against the fantastic choice, and the fact that there is an independent Vetenary practice, and it's a great place. Lastly, the staff are helpful and well informed and always happy to chat with you and give you advice should you need it!

This is a large store with 5 or 6 supermarket sized aisles of pet paraphernalia. It's split into…read moretype of pet eg dog, cat, birds, rabbits etc. For dogs and cats I don;t think you could wish for more, there is every sort of food, bed and other accessories you could want however for the more obscure pets there is little or nothing. I have 3 chickens and could find very little for them except a little bit of bird food. There is a reasonable selection of homes for small furry animals and some bird cages too. There are lots of dog collars and 'clothes' as well as balls and toys. There is plenty of parking outside. You can only access the shop from the road if you are going in a westerly direction as it is not possible to cross the dual carriageway so you may need to carry on to the roundabout and turn around.

As our pets have aged the usual needs come into place, such as low fat diets, pancreatitis and in one case diabetese, which require specialist knowledge of products and the effectiveness of different brands. I would probably say the only slight disappointment is lack of stock change in terms of clothing for dogs, stylish boutique leads/collars & fun products....there rarely seems to be anything new to buy on a whim. Finally if I have seen anything in terms of food or cat/dog toys online or advertised, I have asked the team if they could get the product in which they have done willingly. All in all, I would say the St Albans branch are a great team, offering a great selection of products and good service...sorry that the previous reviewer didn't have the same experience.

I would like to past an update re- Bobbie. I am so very happy with progress so far. Bobbie has made…read morea couple of friends and they spend a lot of time in interaction during the day. Bob's has started to talk freely so we are learning the extent of vocabulary with a couple of new words already. Bobbie call Crystal really loud over and over untill she answer's 'Yes love'. . Bobbie is a really feisty bird with masses of personality. Not crazy for me yet and loves to try and nip my fingers but thats ok I love him anyways. We have the start of loads of feather growth. Several large wing feathers each side and masses of smaller ones on the wing tops and breast. I expect to lose some a long the way but with good feather beds they will regrow. Diet is still an issue. Bobbie likes what Bobbie likes and fights change. He's just a youngen yet so get there we will. I do have photo's on the growth, which were a mission to get as he chases he camara around quicker than the shutter can click. But hey I won in the end. I can not see anyway to load here.
