We did the cave tour only and I was so pleasantly surprised! It's a great value for the amount of info and experience you see on the hour long tour. Katherine was our tour guide and did a great job! Definitely wear slip resistant shoes--you go pretty far in to the cave and it gets slippery! You do about 400 stairs so definitely not great for older folks or little kids, especially because you can't touch the cave walls when you need to steady yourself (theres handrails for the most part but not in every single spot). My 5 year old did great but I imagine younger than 4 would have a hard time and even wearing a kid in a carrier would be difficult. If you can't do a cave tour at any of the other spots nearby, this is a great alternative! Or if you have kids that want to do the other activities the park has to offer, this would be a great option while you wait for them. read more

We had a great experience touring Rushmore Cave in South Dakota! Mike was an amazing tour guide, funny, friendly, and knowledgeable, which made the tour even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend taking the one-hour tour, it was the perfect amount of time and a really cool experience. Highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

Our family of 4 had an amazing time at Rush Mountain Adventure Park - we purchased ride wristbands and enjoyed several rounds of the mountain coaster, soaring eagle, and the 7-D ride. The staff could not have been friendlier, and we felt like we had good bang for our buck! I do wish they had longer hours (they were open 12-5 on the beautiful October afternoon we visited), and that the ropes course had been open (closes at the end of September, along with most things in the area). read more

4.2. Fun place for families w kids Coaster was especially fun being able to break if you have a kid on board w individual cars. The cave tour took an hour. Prob ok for kids as young as kindergarten. Some steep steps not for the elderly w slight bending and darkish corridors. Tours were every 20min and really was 58degrees and nice during the hotter afternoons. We were there at 10am opening and did one round of everything and had snacks on site and finished around 1:30p. By then was close to 100degrees out. On the 16 south from rapid city saw the reptile city thing, the bear park, candy city all suitable for families w kids. Could spend a few extra days here w kids in addition to mt Rushmore . Had we known could have brought our kids here when littler...perhaps w grandkids one day read more

This was a great way to spend the day with a 3 year old, six year old, and 13 year old. We timed our trip perfectly. We went the Sunday after 4th of July after everybody had left town so the park was crowded at all. I recommend going as soon as they open because afternoon thunderstorms shut down the rides for a few hours around 2 PM. The day-pass wrist bands was a great deal for us. We were able to do everything. read more

Took my 11 year-old grandson and he had a blast! The place is operated so well and I was impressed with how clean the park was. The coaster is a must and the rest is fun as well. The cave tour is very interesting, but not for the claustrophobic. Tour guide Ben is very knowledgeable but talks too fast. All in all, a great place to spend with your family. read more

We had a great time. We did all the activities and our kids ages 4-17 had a blast. We did the cave tour and our guide Michael was the best. Highly recommend 5 stars. read more

Every employee we came into contact with was absolutely AMAZING! They were all so friendly, excited about their jobs and actually wanting to help people! We did all the rides and cave tour, we will definitely be back in future visits to SD!! We particularly loved the gentleman who helped my daughter on the wind walker course, he went well above expectations helping her and coaching her through the course! read more

Definitely one of the coolest places to spend a day playing in the Hills. Buy a day pass, do it all and get the whole experience!

We went at 2 o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon and there were no lines. The staff was very friendly and helpful and helped us navigate our way through the attraction . The cave tour was excellent. Staff is very knowledgeable and funny and made it enjoyable. read more

We were not entirely sure how interesting this cave tour would be but since Jewel and Wind Caves were booked days out, we decided to give this location a shot. It is not too hard to find as it is close to Keystone and other popular attractions around the Mount Rushmore area. Besides a cave tour, there are a few other fun attractions for your family like a zip line and coaster. We came for just the cave tour though. The tour itself lasts for a little more than an hour and you walk about 1/2 mile throughout. There is varying degrees of chamber sizes that you walk through, you do have to watch your step and duck down every now and then to navigate through the caves. There are varying degrees of levels that you walk through and so if you are in need of a flat tour, this is not it. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and actively asks for questions from the group, they are excited to tell the stories of this cave system. Prices are pretty reasonable for the area and for the time spent while on tour. The tour guides are very informative and family-friendly and this makes a great thing to do while in the Rapid City area. read more

Went to the Rushmore Cave, it was amazing, stunning, beautiful, pretty and more! I wasn't really fascinated by the facts and parts of the cave, but the worker was nice! Props to Maddy, 5 star read more

Staff was great. Had a wonderful time. Will definitely go back. I just wish that the maps were a little bit easier to read. I wasn't real clear on them and I think we could've found a lot more trails if we were a little more versed with them. read more

Fun place with friendly staff and a variety of things to do. We did the coaster which was super fun and the cave tour. The cave tour is about an hour, the staff is knowledgeable. Family friendly and there is things to do for all ages. Slightly costly for larger groups, but it is all fun to experience. read more

Fun options costly for the options provided. It's not a very walkable place (lots of hills) so plan ahead. Staff was very nice and it was a pretty place to sit while the kids had some fun. read more

We didn't do the Adventure park but if you have youngish kids it looks like a lot of fun. Ok I'm married to a teacher so when you go to SD you go to a cave. This place is so much more, but I'm old and have bad knees so this was not my scene. On the other hand my wife has been before and she said it was one of the best. Being from New Jersey were we are below sea level just making it from the parking lot was a hike. They run tours ever 20 to 30 minutes or so and our group was about 25. Although one lady had to turn back 5 minutes in. If you are Claustrophobic don't go down there it, dark. Our tour guide Casey was funny, sweet and full of energy. She had jokes and story's that made the hour go fast. I have one suggestion for the owners of the cave, invest in some Cotton gloves for your guests if you don't want them touching the walls. Some of the parts are small without railings so not touching the walls is almost impossible. read more

The kids enjoyed themselves here. The wristband was worth the money. There are only a few things to do. They were able to do it as many times though with wristband but after a while it got boring for them. The cave experience was amazing! A work out walking back and forth too. I wouldn't suggest this place if there are elderly along. The roller coast was awesome! You control your own speed. read more

We love Rushmore Cave. I've been on the tour a couple of times. This fascinating cave is a private one rather than a state park. The downside of this is the number of people who ventured in and took stuff or stopped cave growths with body oils before it became preserved. The upside is the interesting history, setup, and constant search for more within the system. They have a great range of stalactites, stalagmites, and even a few columns. It's a beautiful area and a tour worth taking! When we're in the area we'll definitely be back to take in the wonder of Rushmore Cave. We haven't been to any of the amusement park features, which seem geared to a younger audience. read more

A lot of these road side attraction signs usually lead to some lame waste of money but this place is much different. The wristband is definitely worth the price. My family of 4 had a fantastic time visiting from out of town. Definitely recommend visiting here once you've done the monuments and looking for something fun. read more

Was worth the money the mountain coaster was really fun I went on it two times you get your money's worth of that place was really cool and there were more activities to do but I didn't do any other activities just the mountain coaster really fun I recommend for families. And a good time to spend your vacation I didn't go in the cave but I think everybody should try everything they have the employees were really nice great customer service I would go again. read more

It was better than I expected. The coaster ride was intense, different from anything else I've done, and worth the money. The cave tour was decent, probably great if you've never been in a cave, but overpriced for what it is. The zip line was totally not worth the money, and I recommend skipping it. read more

Loved the cave tours, the tour guide Lydia was awesome and funny! I definitely plan on going back one day! My wife and I are in our 30s and we enjoyed the cave and the coasters. Colton was our tour guide and he did a good job and had some awesome jokes. The place itself was very clean and up to date. This was a cool spot. The cave tour was interesting and lasted about an hour. We had our dogs with us and they had 2 cages in the shade with water where they could hangout while be explored the place. Staff was very helpful with everything. What a GREAT time! Of course we were mid week so not as crowded but we literally spent all day! The staff was friendly and helpful which is very rare these days and much appreciated. We forgot a souvenir and Brady found it after hours and saved it for us to pick up! We went to Rushmore Cave four years ago and I must say, I was so impressed with what they have done! We purchased the $50 all day pass and it was worth every penny with the great rides and 1 hour cave tour. The Mountain Coaster was a hit for young and old alike. Then there was the Wing Walker challenge course that was so intense! You are suspended with a harness, but it really was fun challenging myself against my fear of heights. The Soaring Zipride was a fun zip line that is a quick ride, but fun for you and another person. The 7-D Gunslinger Ride gives you 3 options of shooting fun, creating some friendly competition. The staff was very great and helpful. The cave tour was a nice little reprieve from the rain. There were food options and a nice gift shop as well. I would definitely recommend this as a great place for a day of family fun while visiting the Black Hills! read more

Wow, hidden in the mountains on our way to Mt Rushmore was this fun place. We were hell bent to see Mt Rushmore so we drove past it but didn't stop thinking about it. After staring at heads on a hill for 15 minutes we decided to head back. To Rush Mountain adventure. We got there about 1.5 hours before closing and were able to do the coaster twice and the glider once. Both rides were super fun for all ages, the park was clean with access to sanitizer and had super friendly employees. Encourage all in the area to make time for this stop. read more

Ok, this place was cool and had a fun time at. Don't be a dork, buy the wristband for all the rides and cave tour. The coaster is a blast and since they didn't have any lines I went 5 x in a row (needed a time out after). The rope course is good for all ages, not a hassle. Was fun going through those stations with the kids. Cave tour is for those nature lovers, which lasts about an hour. Zip line wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but because it's set for families with kids of all ages, you go on the line with another person. Go early in day to take full advantage of wristband. Staff (from what I saw/experienced) were a lot of HS aged people, who took the stations they were at very seriously. They offer military discount. read more

The coaster and gun slinger was so fun! We didn't do the cave tour but would come back to the coaster anytime! Kids 7, 11 & 17 had a great time! Fun for everyone. The pricing wasn't terrible and would recommend this place over the keystone tram adventure. We did both and enjoyed this more. The drive from Bear Country brings you they the back hills nat'l forest! Such a cool drive! read more

The wristband prices were slightly reduced but we were NOT told one of the attractions was not open due to staff shortage. How can a major attraction be short staffed on a August Saturday? And it was only open until 5pm - which is pretty odd. Despite the disappointment of all the kids not being able to do their most anticipated thing, it was still fun. read more

Such a bummer, we were so excited to try the attractions here but due to their lightning policy we were unable to do so. Marketing-wise this place is a disaster. No clear information anywhere. The brochures basically say nothing, no posted hours to be found, and a map of the grounds (or at least some directions) would go a long way. We also asked at the desk how late they were open and the teen we spoke to had to ask two other people before we could get a clear answer. The cave tour was cool, though it has a LOT of stairs (many more than most cave tours). If you have any mobility concerns it is not a good idea, and they will not warn you. Our tour was delayed multiple times by people who had small children that could not navigate the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable but not friendly at all. He seemed more interested in telling us about his personal life than about the cave. There is a lot of damage in the cave due to poor conservation practices early on, so if you are looking for pristine formations this is not the place. The other attractions might be neat but my kids were only able to try one because of their lightning policy. I know no one can control the weather, but they will not warn you about this either and will point to a 90 minute exchange only policy only after storms keep you from riding the rides. The cashiers will push the wristband heavily, consider this carefully, depending on how many activities you are doing it will likely cost you more money than piecemeal tickets but they will not volunteer this information. On a final note, the decking outside is extremely slippery when wet, and it is mostly inclined. If there is rain during your visit be extremely careful as we saw several children fall. read more

The other caverns in this area were closed due to maintenance and COVID-19. So, with two caves in the area open, we were deciding which one we would go to. We decided to go to Rush Mountain Caverns. This is a nice place to visit! They took safety very seriously and had everyone on the tour wear masks. The employees in the gift shop area were wearing masks. They are cleaning the stairwell handrails every hour as well. The tour was amazing. Birdie was our tour guide. She was great! The temperature is constant 58°. It is not that hard of a walk but does have some steep areas. There are also some very low areas. There is even one rock specifically called headache rock. So watch your head! We went as a family of four and had a great time visiting the cavern! In the gift shop we bought a nine dollar bag of dirt that you can sift in the sluice. That was a lot of fun! I would highly suggest that. We got some really pretty rocks. Overall, we would definitely recommend this family experience. read more

We really had a great time for the most part! The cave, eagle Zipline, the roller coaster, the gunslinger, etc.. most of the staff were amazing! When it came to the wing walkers there was a gal on there who was very rude to my son and my husband. Told them they had to get off because they stayed together on the Highrisers!!! First off, it was my 10 year old sons first time, and my husband DOES NOT do heights! My husband went and talked to a manager and who knows what came of it, because my son was so sad and upset he didn't even want to get back on, because he didn't know what he did wrong. He was embarrassed and crying because it already took all his effort to go get up and do those crazy heights let alone be told "you can't walk across there with your dad"! What!? The manager was very nice, but we don't know what came of it... We paid $160+ to do the fun activities and the one thing my son got my husband to do ends in a shamble. Disappointed! I don't know what else to say EXCEPT that the rest of the crew was very sweet a helped us have a good time. Should we have been comped??? I don't know. read more

So being from the Midwest, if I'm going to pay over $10, I want value for my money. Welp, this place was it. The cost for the coaster ride and cave was well worth it - we had a blast on the coaster! All ages can ride it, and you can make it as slow, or crazy-fast as you want. When we went into the cave, one of my daughters just couldnt make it through (there are a few tight spaces), and we came back out while the tour continued. As we sat waiting, we were approached by an employee who offered US a refund for our cave tour!! We weren't even going to ask, and they were so gracious about it. Pre-emptive refunding? Who even does this?! So impressed. We did the sluice boxes, and the gunslinger. Honestly worth every penny. Its kept spotless, and the employees were stellar. GO! TAKE THE KIDS AND ENJOY! read more

The mountain coaster and zip line were fun once we were able to get on but not worth the long waits and price!!! They need more!
