Referred here with military insurance for shoulder injuries for rehab. As soon as I signed in, the wait wasn't long until they had me going on my therapy. Very efficient, helpful and friendly the staff was, from the receptionist to the head doctor. The therapy activity area was open bay and sometimes it felt crowded, but there was still space to get things done. When I left, they had just opened another section with an above-ground swimming pool for water therapy sessions. Overhead TV's, a clean bathroom, ample parking, small waiting area....no complaints; I never waited that long for an appointment. On my last appointment I asked the head doctor for copies of exercises I could do; he said I could look them up on the internet and he'd email me what they had on file but he never did. This doctor caused me to have constructive wrist surgery because he botched a simple thumb joint surgery.

Staff was great. But 10 months after surgery my hand is worse than before he performed it. Maybe its just my bad luck. Afraid to go back. At least I can still use my hand even if its painful. Should have gotten a second opinion read more

Todd is awesome. He got me in Monday and did the surgery on my hand Thursday, staff is excellent as is Todd. There's a reason he is always busy. Everyone in Yuma knows he's the man to go see, and personally I will always go to him. read more

Great people skills. I figured I would get treated poorly because of my military insurance. But they were great explained every thing and why the chose the procedure. I had to go I was for several treatments and never felt rushed through my appointment like cattle they were busy but I was always treated great. read more

After having surgery he only prescribed 10 pain pills. Not much for post-op pain management. And every time you need a refill they make you re-appoint and pay another co-pay. Not worth paying a co-pay of $40 for 10 pain pills. read more

Absolutely the best doctor! Front office staff is not the friendliest, but that's the norm in Yuma. Dr. Runyan repaired my shoulder, took care of my granddaughter's broken arm & relieved my father's hip pain (when he was still with us... RIP) always showing great concern & compassion. On our first visit we were very impressed. It was all DOWNHILL from there. I cannot comment on care, what I can comment on is the lying and extremely disrespectful staff. After waiting for a week to get "approval" for injections in my knee, I found that nobody had even started the process.I was told by the girl at the desk (Foothill office) I was at "the bottom" of the stack and they hadn't gotten to me. By request of the Doctor, the staff made a call and found that I did not need prior authorization for the injections, so an appointment was scheduled for the following Monday. On arrival, I signed in and within a few minutes was told to speak with the lady who does the Authorizations. She told me that regardless of what my insurance company said they would not get paid for the injections unless I went thru a six week rehab program. That was a bold face lie. We left the Foothill office and immediately called our insurance company, the department of Authorizations. They immediately put us through to a Supervisor, who told us that there was no prior authorization necessary and that they only needed to document medical necessity. Additionally, the Supervisor told us no one from Dr. Runyan's office had called in regards to any treatment, only that they had made in inquiry as to coverage. After going around and around with Dr. Runyan's staff, who insisted they had indeed spoken to our insurance, lie after lie after lie, the staffer made a grave mistake. She said that they, DR. RUNYAN'S office would not document medical necessity unless I went thru the rehab... ATTENTION! This is how Doctor's offices make the extra money by insisting on treatment that isn't necessary. I had all my medical records, which the office had copies of....Xrays, MRI, Cortisone history (3X in a year) a surgery in July and the recommendation of my orthopedist in Reno, NV., that I would need continued care. LIARS and FRAUDULENT billing. Not only am I reporting this to YELP, but also to my insurance company....they should not have Doctors that allow this kind of behavior . One more thing, when I asked to speak to Dr. Runyan by setting up a consultation, I was told that Dr. Runyan doesn't know anything about the billing procedures of his own office. Really? How stupid do you think we are? I was also told they would have me talk to the office manager, but suddenly at 10 in the morning, she was out to lunch. Dr. Runyan's staff is slow and unhelpful. I waited 2.5 hrs past the time of my appointment before being called into an examination room (on more than one visit). Once in the room, I waited another half hour before being seen (all on leave from work burning my sick leave hours). Dr. Runyan failed to physically exam me and based his entire opinion on a MRI. He didn't even bother to order an ultrasound. He stated he thought he should remove or fuse my wrist bones (which would end my current career). Dr. Runyan stated there was nothing he could do about my knee and called it "normal wear & tear" after falling with no pain the knee before. I had to visit a doctor in Scottsdale, AZ to get a second opinion. That doctor did physically exam me and do an ultrasound. Found I had more injuries than Dr. Runyan thought and order a surgery to correct the problem, without fusing or removing bones, so I could regain use of my hand. Scottsdale doctor gave me a shot in the knee and physical therapy. I'm back at work now thanks some other than Dr. Runyan. read more
