I also had her color my hair this past summer and I'm still receiving compliments on the color 5 months later! (Have grey hair and asked Lanell to blend it with some highlights and lowlights and this allows me to have some color in my hair without touchups on a regular basis.) Plus, she is very affordable, offers easy online appointments, and is in a great location. Can't recommend her highly enough!

I felt perfectly comfortable with LaNell and knew I had come to the right place. LaNell is a skilled hair stylist and knew just how to cut my fine bodyless hair, giving me the best cut while also doing what I wanted ( length etc.). The prices @240 are also very reasonable. I definitely will be back, maybe for a perm?

She did what she wanted to do and does not care about her customers...or me at least. I tried to tell her how I wanted my hair cut (been getting it cut this way for over 20 years), no blunt cutting and to have it all chipped into and she just did what she wanted to do, insisting there are many ways to perform the technique. She got so upset, that I was questioning her techniques, that she sternly said to me..."YOU AREN'T A HAIR STYLIST" and then told me, "SHE WAS FINISHED" and then told me to leave her salon. Better Business Bureau here I come...I would not send my dog there for a trim. She thinks that just because she has been cutting hair for 34 years that she knows what is best for her customer. What a joke...it is called tangles for a reason...you leave there in tangles.

Thank you for Felicity who tried but this just reinforces why I don't go to the Root Cellar.... The owner has too much attitude and is never wrong. I have lived in Bethel for over 20 years and have tried the root cellar on various occasions and have never had a good experience. I have (or had) very long, very thick hair. I asked for 3 inches off, and my usual - lots of layers and some thinning at the ends. She gave me tons of layers that flip flop everywhere and don't fall in nice, and she did a LOT of thinning at the ends. However, she took 6 inches off the length!!! I felt so butchered as I watched her dry my hair that I ran out as fast as I could when it was done, and cried all the way home. Dramatic, I know. But my long hair was no more and I don't look good with short hair :( The next day, I was still upset so I called to politely tell her that I knew it was too late but I was very upset with how much length was taken off. She called back two days later, and basically implied that I was imagining things and that she measured 3 inches on her comb when she FIRST started cutting, and maybe it just feels like she took a lot off because she thinned it so much at the bottom. Well thank you but, I know the difference between the LENGTH and WEIGHT of hair. And I know it was around 6 inches in LENGTH because my hair used to be just past my bra strap in the back, and now it sits just at the top of my back where my neck meets my shoulders. So, needless to say, I was upset about the cut, but now I'm even more angered by the fact that she wouldn't take any responsibility for hacking off my hair. Thank God it grows back!!
