I was called three times by someone named Morgan but she couldn't ever leave a voicemail so it was constant phone tag to even set up a phone interview. Anyway when I showed up to the interview I have a guy's name, but I'm a woman. When I showed up, the interviewer immediately said, "Sorry, you weren't what I expected," and flat-out told me she had been expecting a man. She then went on to say that I probably wouldn't even be considered for the position I applied for, but we could "talk about a different position" instead. On top of that, she made horrible eye contact throughout the entire interview. Honestly, thanks for wasting my time--this could have been cleared up over the phone if I wasn't qualified or wasn't going to be given a fair chance. Offering $15 an hour is already a joke for a college student, but now I'm left wondering: I guess a kinesiology student isn't qualified to work in the shoe department, or maybe she just only hires men.‍ She didn't even walk me out from the back room. Most awkward interview ever. Regardless, I would have liked to be given a fair interview before it was decided I wasn't qualified within in the first 2 seconds of meeting. However, I was left with much to be desired specificity with the customer service. When I entered the store I was not greeted by the female employee sitting behind the counter. As I continued to shop, I noticed two males enter the store and join the woman behind the counter, I couldn't determine if the men were employees but they certainly acted as such, being behind the counter and using the stores computers. As I looked on I heard lots of shouting and profanities including the F word being used in front of my young daughter but still no greeting or assistance of any kind. While I was narrowing down my selections I was finally approached by one of the men who said "hey guys, you gotta move, we got trick or treaters coming in". No pleasantries or suggestions just that I had to move with hardly any explanation as to why. The way I see it, I as a potential customer (at the time I had items in my hand I was going to purchase) was treated as second rate to people just passing through for free candy. I don't want to sound like a Halloween humbug as the kids in costumes were adorable but after I was rudely approached for the first time in the store I simply placed my items back on the shelf and left, of course expecting too much when thinking I would get a "good bye" or a "have a nice day". I bring new shoes here to have little tabs put onto the outside heel. I've never had the tab, or as he calls them, the hush puppy, fall off, or wear completely down. It's always a joy to come to this shop. Six or seven bucks and my shoes double their lifespan. He also sells new shoes and does all kinds of leather repair on bags and other items.
