I've lived here 4.5 years so please read my review if you're considering moving here. The things I like: The layout & location are awesome. I have the original unit (no upgrades) and its perfectly fine. If there was an issue with an appliance, it was fixed or replaced (thanks to Jamie, the Assistant Manager). The neighbors are generally quiet but you can hear the people below you (I'm on the 3rd level). The gym is basic and the pool is cute (I'll miss this the most). A landscaping crew cuts the grass weekly & the maintenance crew here does a phenomenal job when it snows. The office does Saturday brunches (for free!) and will give cute gifts for the Holidays. The closet space in both rooms are great & the electric bills are very manageable! Generally, the apartment is a cozy home. The things I dislike: Office communication. Since Melissa Lovell became manager, communication is awful. She simply doesn't respond. Jamie does try to get back to you when she can. They do "pest control" and do "water quality" testing every 2-3 mo meaning a technician & person from the office will be in your home. Just a heads up. Maintenance is hit or miss. I've had my dishwasher and dryer replaced but the ceiling leaking and causing mold growth was never addressed. They did replace the roof last year though. The things to keep in mind: If your unit is further back towards the trash bin, parking is tough. No one wants to walk from a parking space by the field all the way to their unit. They offer reserved parking but it's $25/mo. I personally have it but without, parking is minimal. Rent increases are insane. The past 3 renewals have increased an avg of $125/mo. The office first claimed that it was due to inflation (how does that affect current tenants that much??) but then said that I'm still under market. I'm not unreasonable but those are big increases year after year. Overall thoughts: I've really enjoyed living here & love the layout. The office communication is frustrating. The rent increases are out of control. The location is awesome. I would still choose to live here again, but the office communication HAS to improve & be prepared for large rent increases each year. read more

The management by the manager is very bad. She has a bad attitude, if something breaks they don't fix it quickly, sometimes it takes up to weeks to fix something. This is something that the owners should check if they want to raise their level, it is getting worse and worse. read more

After just renewing my lease, I feel very confident that I made the right decision. Although I did my homework on new offers out there, I confirmed to myself that Runaway Bay has other communities beat, hands down. Where else can you go that offers all the amenities such as pool, gym and dog park for the price? No where. Price a 2 bedroom with 2 FULL bathrooms and you will see the price difference is unreal. Drive through the community at any given time of day and you will not find a piece of paper on the ground. The dumpsters and areas, never have bags sitting out with garbage being strewn all over. Lastly, the staff at Runaway Bay both office and maintenance cannot be beaten. I was surprised by the rudeness I found when shopping other properties. Here the office is always doing something for the residents, from bingo to offering tacos on Tuesdays. If you are a responsible person and can obey and respect the community, you would be more than welcomed. If not stay away. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was injured. It took my 45 minutes to walk down my stairs with crutches to the leasing office to pick up my package. The manager was preparing to show an apartment to a couple. She was very rude and adamant that I come back later although we were standing in her office and I was clearly in pain. The manager is very unprofessional. Calling maintenance request is a waste of time. Other residents have dogs waste is left everywhere. The leasing office is sporadically open. This place has taken a major decline in quality in the last couple years. I will no longer refer friends or family to live here. read more

It's been a year and 1/2 of living here at Runaway Bay. This is by far the best apartment complex I have ever lived in when it comes to taking care of their residents. Courtney Deason and her staff work very hard to stay on top of things and it shows. They communicate by text everything from people parking their car in a reserved spot , to looking for a lost kitten. The staff constantly has things going on for the residents. Everything from giving out tacos on taco Tuesdays, to putting out popcorn on each door of every apartment. Free social events are always going on. They have best pet of the month and even had a doggie swim on the last day before the pool closed. On occasion you'll see the staff out front giving out treats of some kind. Now who does that? As far as the apartments, they are very reasonable on rent. VERY. The apartments have all you need including a full size washer and dryer in your own private laundry room. The grounds are kept impeccable. even around the dumpsters! The maintenance staff are great too. No waiting days for service. I could go on about this community but enough for now. P.S. In my opinion, any negative reviews have more to the story. read more

The apartments are great. My complaint would be the poor excuse for a property manager. She screens her calls and has no concern for the tenants. She's the rudest person I have ever encountered. Her disgusting attitude was enough for me to not want to be there. read more

Great complex! Apartments are nice size with separate laundry room and walk in closet. Property manager Courtney organizes activities like bingo, carriage rides and murder mystery dinners. She and her team made us feel like family. Not sure why everyone has a problem with her...if you pay your rent on time, you shouldn't have any issues. We even got a coupon once for a late rent payment just for paying on time every month. Maintenance crew is friendly and quick. Only thing is that we were told the outside doors and railings would be painted last year but it must have gotten postponed. Very minor. If I move back to Salisbury, runaway bay is top of the list. read more

If I could give negative stars I would ! Moving out tomorrow and have had the worse experience of my life with management !!! First of all my apartment began to get mold over 6 months ago . Management told me they would send some one , 4 days later someone shows up he does nothing . No one gets back to me ....... so one day I'm running on the treadmill and property manager comes in and tells me "omg forgot to fix your issue , we will get someone over there in two weeks ." Again nothing ever happens so I decide I'm going to move out . I gave my two month notice , I have asked repeatedly if they can give me a run down of what I will owe ahead of time . Never got anything . Now the day before I move out they want to tell me I owe over 1,500 dollars and expect it tomorrow . If I were to have received anything or have been communicated with this would never be a problem . I am in shock of the way I have been treated , I have never paid them late, quiet household and tried to work with them as much as possible ! Don't move here ! The managers do whatever they want and have no regard for there residence !!!!!!!!! read more

I CAN'T WAIT to move! Please talk to a current tenant before moving in! I have a nice apartment. It's decent sized, but frankly a little overpriced. They are great about coming out to do maintenance very quickly, and those maintenance guys are great. There used to be a very nice lady in the office. Sadly, she was let go for being "too nice" to the tenants. The new manager is exactly the opposite. There seems to be no desire to do the right thing in the office anymore. That attitude seems to come down directly from corporate. There was a substantial rent increase this last year. There are also now paid parking spaces. Rather than one parking permit per unit (used for the spaces in front of your building) they now sell spaces for $25 per month. The spaces are just another way to grab some cash. Countless cars have been towed, starting the first day the new special parking signs went up. No calls were made asking "did you realize that you are parking in one of the new reserved spots?" Just a call to the towing agency and a $150 bill. If you pay your rent on the 5th or before, you're good. If not, no matter whether it's your first time being late or not, they file for eviction against you on the 6th. Why have a late fee if being late equals an automatic eviction filing? If pay-day falls on the 6th and you walk in to the office with your check for rent and the late fee, it's too late. The floors are thin, and EVERY noise from your upstairs neighbors will be heard in your unit. That also goes for the stairs. Every step reverberates through your unit and shakes anything hanging on your walls. I am not exaggerating. It's bad. The windows are old and very leaky. In the winter, cold drafts will come into your unit from every wall, through every electrical outlet, and through the dryer vents. The heat runs a lot. I spend as much to heat this apartment as in my old townhouse that was 2x the size. I could go on... I really just can't say enough how much I hate coming home sometimes. Do yourself a favor, and look at other places in town first! read more

Runaway Bay WOULD be a wonderful place to live if not for the current manager, Courtney Deason. The location is ideal. The setting is serene and the apartments are very nice. However, Ms Deason does nothing to live up to the "We Love Our Residents" message that adorns every piece of signage that surrounds the complex. She is rude, deceptive and vindictive. She invites you to come to her office to "discuss" any issues you may have. This entails her sitting behind her desk looking down her nose at you while she chastises you like a child until you finally have to leave before your anger gets the better of you. If you do lose your cool she threatens you with eviction because you weren't nice to her. After that you have a target on your back. If you ever consider living at Runaway Bay and find out that Courtney Deason still manages the property do yourself a huge favor and run away. read more

However , it's hard to set up an appointment when the manager constantly dodges your request or states she is too busy to talk at the moment. I understand you think you have trained staff and some of your staff have been very helpful with this issue. However , I have researched reviews of your property and there is one complaint that is consistent and that is about Courtney Deason's relationship with and attitude towards tenants. If your company truly intends to maintain a high standard of customer service and taking care of your tenants, there needs to be some attitude adjustments. There are too many choices for people looking for a great community in Salisbury for this behavior to continue. Communication is key......things were not communicated properly to my son and his family. We have pictures and documentation how all of this was handled. We are very understanding of issues that arise when it comes to outside contractors but leaving us in the dark was unacceptable. read more
