You can shop without paying admission to the museum. It's a beautiful bright space. There's lots of variety to enjoy. The selection typically relates to the current exhibits. Today they have a lot of items from the Jazz Age. I love Art Deco. You can't avoid the Gift Shop. First they feed you as you enter through the cafe. Next past the cafe you enter the gift shop. If you keep going you'll get to the front desk to discuss admission. If there is another entrance I'm not familiar with it.
