The show was very fun, but what I didn't expect is how cool this place was. It's like a beer garden with several different booths offering sweets, cocktails, beer and food. We found a lovely picnic table under a large tree, relaxed and enjoyed a couple cocktails before the show. People were everywhere sitting on the fake lawns, packed to tables and all having a pretty good time. They also had pretty decent restrooms for an event venue that is open to the public. Pretty fun for all ages and a nice place to relax while chilling on the South Bank.

If I had kids and wanted to take them somewhere in London that I could enjoy as well - Udderbelly…read morewould probably be that place! There's a decent range of beers to choose from at standard London prices, plenty of places to sit - both covered and uncovered for that 1 hour of sunshine, and plenty of activities going on (some ticketed) to entertain the masses! Meh wine.' I'm not a massive wino to begin with, so take the following words with a whole shaker of salt: Rioja wine doesn't really taste like anything to me. Honestly. Perhaps it's too subtle for a palate as unrefined as mine, but try as I might with two different glasses of wine, I got hints of flavour and that's about it. On the upside, the Spanish cuisine was absolutely worth queueing to get into the park, and then queueing again (multiple times) to get at the grub. I was glad to secure two massive steaming bowls of paella to share. Both the chicken and chorizo paella and seafood paella were £6 each - a totally affordable price considering the huge volume. And there was absolutely no skimping on protein in either dish. Similarly, it was an even longer wait to get at the goods at the station serving jamón serrano and cheese plates, but the goods delivered! And I'm pretty sure that prices for takeaway bottles of wine from each stand were more aggressive than what you'd find at your local offie. The one stall I decided to get some goods for the Trojan Horse show just around the corner immediately after the festival was running a special for one bottle for £8 and two bottles of £10. I think I'm genetically wired to be incapable of turning down a good deal. Needless to say, I did -not- leave with just one bottle. And they came neatly packaged in a wine bottle carrier tote, too! In all, a quite successful haul. Though I ended up spending a lot more than I expected, it wasn't any more than what a meal at a middle-of-the-road restaurant would have cost. Plus, it was a grand day to be outside by the river, toasting with a glass of mediocre but drinkable wine!

The sun even came out while I was there, so blazing its long-missed rays were that I made my husband go back to the flat to get my sunglasses. Granted, as soon as he returned some rather foreboding clouds had come rolling in, but those 10 minutes I spent last Sunday standing under the shade of a tree and listening to a Spanish band, drinking rioja and eating chorizo were glorious.

Baroque The Streets: Dulwich Street Art Festival 2013…read more(forgive me for the late review but it would be selfish of me not share with you all) I am a huge sucker for the ''oh so beautiful'' social vandalism draped on all over our streets of London. I am not talking the 'I WOZ HERE 98' sharpies done by 4 year old's. I am talking incredible AEROSOL ART created by the incredible ''Gods of Spray Paint''. Me and a friend on mine attended the "Baroque The Streets: Dulwich Street Art Festival 2013". A yearly event with over 20 of the best international graffiti artist creating and collabortaing incredible masterpieces all over the streets of Dulwich. With so many fun filled activities - we decided to do the 'treasure map' and walk along the streets of Dulwich finding great visual arts from the likes of Stik to Phlegm and my favorite Thierry Noir - they're all my favorites. It was an incredible day and I look forward to 2014!

The events that run here are also usually pretty amazing, with Torture Garden being the reason I've been before. I came here a few years ago with a friend for a techno night. The club is an old cinema, and as…read more'concepts' go it's pretty awesome. There is a dance floor and various rooms. The layout is a little odd as they don't obviously correspond to that of a cinema. Still there is a balcony with seats, that I imagine is unchanged aspect. At the show I was at they were projecting nuclear bomb warning adverts from the sixties whilst the artist played this stormy atmospheric music. Then they showed an edited version of The Shining as another artist performed a live soundtrack. It was an incredible experience, hampered only by people trying to buy drugs from me because I was sober. If you can, try and see an audiovisual show, the venue will make it a memorable experience.

I went to see The Roots at The Forum this weekend and although most of my enjoyment was down to…read morethem being an incredible band, some of it had to do with the venue, which I rate highly. As a sprightly, young music fan, I used to get standing tickets for every concert because I wanted to be at the front, hugging the speaker and as close as possible to whoever was on stage. Now at the ripe old age of 24, I may be getting a bit old for this kind of behaviour and so for the first time ever, opted for seated balcony tickets. When we arrived and moved through the fast moving queue I started to worry that buying seats meant that you had to sit in them; I just wanted to be on the balcony for a better view. My fears turned out to be unfounded; the seating is comprised of tiered, cushioned benches that curve around the balcony. It was unreserved too so even though we arrived late, we still managed to squeeze in with another friend at the front. There are several bars at The Forum, so the queues for drinks were nothing like what I've seen in other large music venues and they are inside the auditorium so getting a beer doesn't mean missing half the gig. It's very grand inside with a huge chandelier hanging from the high ceiling and gold detailing on every available surface. The only complaint about this venue is the sound wasn't particularly good, especially after the gig, the DJ set was so quiet it sounded as though the speakers were in a different room.

I came to see Manu Chao here last night, which was an amazing concert with an electric atmosphere…read more Everyone was jumping up and about for most of the evening. It was sold out, but still not terribly crowded. A pint of beer was decent at 3.20 pounds, not extortionate but you're not allowed re-entry. Might as well have a drink before. It was not too small and not too big, perfect for an intimate concert. Its divided into two levels with lots of chairs upstairs, where you can sit with a great view of the stage. The cloakroom was terribly crowded at the end of the night, but the manager and security team managed the crowd really well (mini London mob... don't we know them well). Awesome concert, decent venue.

The Almeida is one of the best producing theatres in London. Some of their shows go to the West End…read moreand Broadway. They champion new work as well as bringing fresh perspectives to revivals. The space is very flexible and can be a proscenium, of thrust, or even in the round, whatever is best for that particular play. They don't shy away from controversial plays and musicals, so this is the place to go if you want to be challenged as well as entertained. Tip: When you book seats downstairs it may say restricted view. That's because this is an old venue with poles holding up the balcony. As you can see in the picture there small and in my experience they don't really get in the way. If that bothers you the seats upstairs are excellent.

It was exciting to see that the Almeida is still going strong, and perhaps entering an even more…read moreadventurous phase, when I returned here during a recent re-visit to London. I attended the theatre several times between 2004 and 2007, and the plays offered strong casts (Eileen Atkins and Imelda Staunton were probably the most notable names I saw live) but not especially challenging dramatic fare. This time around in early 2015, the theatre had been transformed into a would-be video game arcade for Mike Bartlett's provocative new play "Game". The audience was seated on specially constructed benches in a square area around the main "stage" (totally reconfigured into a would-be private living room) and voyeuristically urged to follow the plot of the show, which alternated between onstage and a live video feed that was broadcast simultaneously from different areas of the seats. This performance also pushed the boundaries of more traditional theatregoing in that it was offered twice in one night - a great way for the theatre to make some extra money and for the actors and technical staff to flex their muscles. It's clear that other recent Almeida productions have been more dramatically adventurous. Looking forward to keeping an eye on their future output!

We got loads of free photos, loads of comedy and some of the fittest fitties I've ever seen ! I'm going again very soon ! x

So the tickets were nearly £100 each but that's okay for the line up…read more It didn't help that it was chucking it down with rain on and off throughout the day until late noon. I have to say that I had a pretty crap day. The toilets were an absolute joke queuing over and hour and twenty minutes to have a pee?!?! It's not like this is the first year that they have ran this festival or indeed know how many tickets they have sold and work out that a few toilets actually wasn't going to cut it. I know that you pay more for drinks at festivals but this one took the mick. My vodka diet coke didn't even taste of that, God knows what it actually was. The fiat rides that were there were quite cool. Although the rides themselves are really short - I would say about half the time they would normally be. The taxi thing was a joke. We ended up walking for over thrifty minutes following signs to the taxis, what's that all about? Plus when we got our taxi they charged us twice what we paid to get there. Which again is just another liberty and I don't think anyone was actually checking the cabs as some of them weren't even registered cabs. I wasn't off my nut so that was okay, but what if someone off their face got into one of the unregistered cabs? It was an okay day, but with tickets and drinks and rides we spent over £500 for one day. That's not including the taxis. I received and email about booking for next year and I thought "I really don't bleeding think so".

Good but getting a little expensive these days. Been to it a couple of times, always an experience…read moreand worth it in the end. Foo Fighters were excellent, Prodigy, Muse, and Queens of the Stone Age were brilliant; the Foo's being the best. If you only go to one live show a year you can't go wrong with this one.
