This venue is amazing and is in its last year so get down there before it closes! A converted theatre there's lots of different rooms, bars and spaces as well as a lot of nooks and crannies! The events that run here are also usually pretty amazing, with Torture Garden being the reason I've been before. I came here a few years ago with a friend for a techno night. The club is an old cinema, and as 'concepts' go it's pretty awesome. There is a dance floor and various rooms. The layout is a little odd as they don't obviously correspond to that of a cinema. Still there is a balcony with seats, that I imagine is unchanged aspect. At the show I was at they were projecting nuclear bomb warning adverts from the sixties whilst the artist played this stormy atmospheric music. Then they showed an edited version of The Shining as another artist performed a live soundtrack. It was an incredible experience, hampered only by people trying to buy drugs from me because I was sober. If you can, try and see an audiovisual show, the venue will make it a memorable experience. read more

This was weird, I went in not knowing what to expect, it doesn't look like much from the outside. And inside, again, you walk in - labyrinthine corridors to the toilets, climb a stairwell, a medium sized room with cool kids dancing. Up the stairs again, and it's another, slightly larger room, again with people dancing. Go up the stairs again, and you come out INTO A MASSIVE AUDITORIUM! Like, the whole place is an old theatre. And now they have club nights and bands on there. So it feels like you're pissing all over classical sensibilities. Oops, have I just urinated on your love of old dancehall? It's funny as a club venue, maybe more suited to watcing bands or 'acts'. There were people on the stage, but by the time we were in the stalls, I'd lost track of where the stage was. Be warned, I queued for 1 WHOLE HOUR to buy drinks, by which time, everyone was so fed up of waiting that I bought NINE cans, which meant we all got a bit too drunk and spent all our money quite early. That was annoying. But on the whole, just the thriller of being out in a giant auditorium is good. Sound good. Nice crowd. Just remember to queue really really early if you're getting a drink. read more

Not a great venue at all. It's conveniently located right behind Elephant and Castle station, but it looks terribly run down and ramshackle. Security is super tight, you need scannable ID to get in, there's a metal detector, bag check and physical pat down. Yet all the security staff seem bored and I doubt they're doing their jobs as thoroughly as the setup is meant to make you believe. There are several levels and no signage around the place, the cloak room is outside past the smoking area and was quite difficult to find. The main bar is incredibly slow, badly managed and expensive. The large dance floor downstairs is nice, but that's about it about the venue. Wouldn't really recommend it unless they're hosting an act you REALLY need to see. read more

This is a great venue. It's got a decent number of bars and you can lean up at the downstairs bar and still have a good enough view of the stage. It's a little bit like going to a gig in an episode of The OC. You can have a natter (or argument if truly channeling the spirit of Ryan and Marissa), get a drink and listen to the music. It holds regular club nights in here too, so look out for those. read more

As far as venues go, this place rocks. First off, I have only been here once, to a fancy private party that had free cocktails, free food, bands etc, so I can't comment on drinks prices, cover charges or anything like that. The Coronet is an old cinema. There is still a movie theatre part to the club with a screen and seats. There is also a stage and a couple of bars. This venue is a brilliant choice to hire out for parties. The party I went to had indie short-movie screenings happening in the cinema part (complete with free bags of popcorn and candyfloss, handed out by boys and girls in 1940s burlesque-type outfits), in the downstairs part there was music (a dj and bands) dancing and free giant hotdogs. Upstairs they turned one bar into a 'piano bar' with a grand piano and loungey type singer (I think they may also have done a 'piano bar karaoke' type thing too). The other bar was bigger and had swing dancing going on, complete with a never-ending supply of fancy cocktails. The model Erin O'Connor was also there, sipping on a cocktail and looking effortlessly glamorous... There were also goodie-bags, but obviously, that has nothing to do with the venue, that's just me showing off about my free Shu Uemera make-up and Paul Smith sunglasses.... :) Of course, the awesomeness of the event will depend on the organisers, but everything else aside this venue is ace and has the potential for a quirky night out! read more

Coronet Theatre is not the best place of the moment in London but I rate it 3 stars for their venues efforts. We have all the EdBangers Label birthday there (label of Justice, Busy P, Uffie and more) and this year there was (the last one was the 18th of June) the famous together party... I've been there for Vitalic, Fisher Spooner and all the MAC's which play good gigs always!!! The place needs to be redecorated I think and it could become a very good club. Also the party are cheap all the time 10 or 15£. Go there for good DJ only! read more

ive been here a few times through the years - for gigs (which were amazing), for massive fancy dress parties, for club type things... its great because the space is so freaking huge, if you get bored in one area you can always just walk around and find something else to look at. the area is a bit dodgy, so be sure you know how youre getting home when you leave. read more

Came here for a Halloween ball. The place is huge! Lots of different bars, a few different stages. Could definitely see myself having a good time listening to a favorite band here as well. read more

I was so excited to go see one of my favourite DJs tonight. I arrived at 3:20 am and I was denied entry, despite the fact that I specifically purchased a ticket that said, "Allows entry after 3 AM". Not only would they not honor my ticket, they were also quite rude and insulting. Never have I ever been treated so poorly outside of a venue before. I will not be returning, nor do I recommend anyone else. Catch your music elsewhere. Not here. read more

The Coronet is a converted cinema that becomes a venue at night. The bands don't play the large cinema halls, they play in the reception room. It's a small stage with a fairly good sound system and it's a great place to go see small bands. There are two floors as well, with bars on both and very elegant stairs! A very unlikely venue but a good one, none the less. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Worst venue I have ever been to. The manager was dismissive and the security insulting as soon as I arrived at the door. They also lied about information on their website. The communication between the venue and the promotor was disgraceful. Several people were denied entry after a legitimate ticket purchase. Avoid venue AT ALL COSTS. This place does not care about patrons, or music...only about money. read more

I was here recently on the "22 years of Jungle Mania" event. I had a terrible experience. First of all, I was there half an hour early before the opening at 9:30, but they made me wait until 11:00 to get in there. That's 1.5 hours in the cue! In the meantime the police was walking around, confiscating drinks and pulling out people. Finally I was there by the doors, and an extremely rude bouncer told me to empty everything I have, and he kept searching me for like 15 minutes. I even had to show him the insides of my used tissues. One of my friends had to remove his shoes and socks as well, standing bare feet like a complete idiot. Not really welcoming. Other friends came late, and guess what, they were waiting 2 hours in the line! I felt the sound system was nothing better than average, if I have to go through all this, I would expect better. I also heard stories about pulling people off from the dance floor to do additional searches. Ridiculous, felt like we were illegal immigrants or something. I would never come back here again. read more

Though I ended having a good time because of my company, the venue almost ruined my night. The pre paid tickets only guaranteed entry for those willing to queue for 2 hours and assuming half those would give up and leave. The rest of us got pushed around while the bouncers shouted at us for no reason. I saw one guy get pinned to the ground on the street for no apparent reason. Once I got the the front I was told to leave and sober up, even though I hadn't had a single drink. I got back in the queue and got inside, but the music was mediocre at best and the foam was disgusting. read more

Have been going to The Coronet for years and have definitely encountered some issues but have to say the past year or so have been a real turnaround, recent Groove Armada & New Years Eve nights were massive highlights for me. Definitely one of the best superclubs in the capital. Keep an eye out for it! read more

wicked club for drum and bass music, slightly grimey atmosphere but with a wicked layout and sound system. Have had wicked nights in there.
