Today she went to make a complain, and this is were things get interesting, they actually blamed her, the manager says its her fault since she did not tell them she had sensitive nails, but the thing is she does not have sensitive nails and even of she does they should talk more professional. They are a rip off, impolite and unprofessional. Do not get fooled by their professionaly taken pictures. DONOT

With the hundreds of pushy/disinterested/questionable vendors touting questionable "cashmere" and/or "pashmina," this was a breath of fresh air. Our day at the Grand Bazaar started with this shop and ended with it. Our initial visit, we briefly looked around and left to check out other stores. On our return to the store at the end of the day, Yusuf (who owns the store with his brother) welcomed us back and actually left the store to give us space to look around. While we were looking, he didn't bombard us with information as most vendors tend to do. Yusuf wasn't pushy at all and frankly, he doesn't need to be as the quality of their products really speak for themselves. We chatted for quite a bit and at the end of our visit, purchased a few very beautiful cashmere/silk wraps. A wonderful experience in an otherwise frustrating experience at the Grand Bazaar. Highly recommend to those looking for high quality shawls/wraps.

I really like Georgian food and was excited to try this place having heard stories of the…read morefascinating history of the building and the quirky owners. In reality I found the atmosphere a little cold and the interior actually looks oddly like someone's living room, although that had it's own charm (there's a shower cubicle in the toilet). Food wise we tried the stuffed carrots, a dish I've never had before which was absolutely delicious, refreshing but flavourful and one of my favourite things I ate in Istanbul. Along this were stuffed vine leaves, a major hit with my friend because of the slightly sweet edge given by the inclusion of sultanas. I was disappointed by the khinkali (spelled hingali on the menu) which were small and the dumpling was harder than I'm used to. Bear in mind though that I've eaten hundreds of khinkali, most people would probably be fine with this version! The other dish we had, the tatar ashi, is the owner's mother's recipe and was indeed very tasty and comforting. She also played some old tunes on the piano which were very haunting and beautiful. Overall I perhaps wouldn't recommend this if you're only on a short trip to Istanbul but if you've got a bit longer/are a local and fancy something a bit different, definitely give it a go.

For a variety of reasons, this was one of my favorite dining experiences in Istanbul…read more First, the building itself has a story unto itself. At one point, the building served as a prison for the British Empire in the 1920's. It has since had other uses prior to becoming a restaurant, however it seems that it is most apt to highlight the fact that it is a former jail. Second, the restaurant was located in the neighborhood of our apartment, our home away from home while staying in Istanbul. While the food was excellent, I will always remember the warm hospitality of the owners. The owner started playing Russian folk songs on the piano as we were winding down our dinner. One of our dining companions, whose family is Russian, was immediately taken back to her childhood, as she sang these songs with her family. She joined the woman at the piano and continued to sing folk song after folk song. Afterwards, another friend of ours sat down at the piano and we had an impromptu concert. What started off as a woman playing the piano to provide some ambiance and background music turned out to be a wonderful experience of sharing music for all of us. It's been several years since I dined at the restaurant but what I do remember is the sounds and the excellent spiced cheese. If you are in the neighborhood, this is a worthy stop for a meal. Hopefully, you will be rewarded with as lovely of an evening as I was.

To say everything was exceptional is an understatement! The food was incredibly tasty, served at the perfect temps, and prepared to perfection. The service was beyond amazing: our server even cut most items into quarters and personally served all of us. He was incredibly attentive (but not overly attentive) and took care of everything we asked for very quickly. The manager also spent quite a bit of time with us taking care of everything. She was beyond incredible! Beyond the food and service, the decor was out of this world and the atmosphere was great. I could go into specifics on how amazing the craft cocktails were as well, but just take my word for it when I say they were world class. I've not had many dining experiences as good as this in my whole life. If you are ever visiting Istanbul and you don't visit this place, you are truly doing yourself a disservice. A true gem!!! It's 300 per person if you don't drink, however the cuisine is neither unique or special enough to spend that sort of money. It's urban cuisine done good, but that's it. Even the side dishes you can order with your main dish are extra. I've had 3 pieces of fillet meat and mashed potatoes for 67 liras, which ought to give you an idea. Yes it tasted fine, but not amazing. The only unique food on the menu are the steak tartare and the snail. But to have a coffee, this is pretty much the perfect place as it's reasonably prices and the coffee is really good. (Julius Meinl) You can sit inside or outside, and the ambiance and service is genuinely good, however you either must be loaded or trying to impress somebody if you're having a proper dinner here.
