Established in 1987.
The Rug Rats concept was born at my kitchen table in Farmville, Virginia in the fall of 1987. Picture-perfect Farmville is hardly the place where you would expect to find a revolution in custom rug design. The Rug Rats retail showroom (separate from the workroom) opened on Main Street in historic Farmville in 1990, next to legendary Green Front Furniture, in quintessential small-town America. When Sandy expanded the design workroom in 1992, the custom design business moved to the next level. Over nearly four decades, Rug Rats has grown from a small Virginia town into a national custom logo rug company serving clients in all 50 states - now woman-owned, WBENC-Certified and WOSB-certified, with every rug and mat made to order in the USA. Through it all we have kept our focus on three fundamentals: high-quality custom rugs, very competitive prices, and the ability to turn our customer's inspiration into reality.
Meet the Business Owner: Sandy P.
Color, texture, style. As a young woman, Sandy Pharr was drawn to materials and design - and to how the right details shape the beauty and comfort of the spaces we share. In 1975 she earned her B.S. in Home Economics, with a specialty in Clothing and Textiles, from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. In 1987 she took the big step and started her own business, Rug Rats, and the excitement and optimism she felt then still propel her forward today. Nearly four decades later, Sandy leads a woman-owned, WBENC-Certified and WOSB-certified custom logo rug company, working directly with every client from the first free design proof to final delivery. She still draws inspiration from major design shows to keep an eye on what's best and what's new.
