BEWARE! See attached photos/videos…read more We brought our beloved Lilly Peppercorn to Puppy's Playpen, providing clear reference photos of exactly how she should be styled. PP sliced her eyelid with scissors, botched her appearance, crushed her spirit, took zero accountability, showed zero compassion, and cancelled US as customers. During pick-up, our dog looked nothing like she was supposed to. Worse yet, we noticed that she was squinting in one eye and it was red and bloodshot. When we asked what happened, they casually dismissed it, saying, "She probably just had hair in her eye." After putting Lilly P in the car and looking at her some more, we decided my S/O would go back in and ask for a refund for the trim. They tried to tell my S/O that I specifically requested changes to her appearance when I dropped her off. In reality, I TEXTED the groomer (that morning during drop-off) a photo of how she is meant to look after a trim and asked them not to deviate from her style at all. While they begrudgingly approved a refund, the manager, Valerie, rather than taking any accountability or providing any degree of customer service, said that Puppy's Playpen would be cancelling us as customers. Once we got home, our poor girl was quivering, clearly shaken, and not acting like herself. She wouldn't play or engage with us at all, which is completely out of character as she is 100% play-driven. She just sat on the couch, shaking and squinting with one eye. Concerned, we took her to the vet, only to discover that her eyelid had been sliced through with scissors and that she would need anti-biotic / steroid eyedrops to heal up. When we called the shop about the issue, not only did they refuse to take accountability, but the same manager, Valerie, showed no compassion, empathy, or care AT ALL. Instead of offering any meaningful resolution, she coldly told us, that they would not reimburse vet bills, citing their terms of service applicable to everyone, and reminding us not to come in again. This entire experience has been heartbreaking, unacceptable, and frankly, jarring. We trusted Puppy's Playpen to treat and make our beloved dog look great, and they completely failed--not just in their work, but in their basic duties of care and decency. I am heartbroken by the decline and know that many of my local friends have also expressed concern over it. All the staff who used to work there left soon after the new management took over a few years back. It's become so much worse recently in my opinion, especially the last couple of times I've boarded my dog. First off, you are blasted by a strong urine smell when walking in the front door, which it never had before. After that, I was told by the front desk attendant that my dog peed her bed the night before. She then brought me all of her stuff, including the soaked pee filled bed in a trash bag that reeked 1. My dog has NEVER peed on anything in the house, for the 10 years I've had her, no matter how long I've left her. NEVER, not even after 12 hours! 2. It definitely smelled like more than one accident the night before. I asked the front desk attendant what happened with her the rest of the time and was told curtly that she guessed it was fine since she had no other notes on her. She also said that she only handled the front desk and never offered to get anyone to talk to me about it, even after I said that she had never peed on anything in the house, ever. I regret not asking her to get anyone else, but wanted to get myself and my dog out of there ASAP as the smell was only getting worse. Finally, she brought out my 11 year old pitbull-boxer mix who looked really unhappy. She just seemed like a different dog the rest of the evening and through the next couple of days. Not the normal, so exhausted she only wants to sleep, but more like she was not happy. I noticed when I unpacked her belongings that they didn't follow all of the instructions by what was sent back home. She didn't get her lunches most days or her bedtime snack every day I was gone. The longer I've been away from the situation, the more frustrated I've become wondering what happened to my poor girl while I was out of town. I will NEVER be bringing my dog back to Pooches Paradise! I also know quite a few neighborhood friends who have also stopped using Pooches Paradise in the last couple of years. Sadly not the place it used to be.

But not for Pampered Paws! They make Molly look so beautiful every time. They do a wonderful job with long-haired dogs - I requested "as short as possible while still being soft (aka not shaved or prickly)", same as I had at every other groomer - but Pampered Paws actually made it happen! All to say, we will not be trying any more groomers. It's only Pampered Paws from now on. Also - the staff is divine! They're all incredibly friendly, they love & remember the dogs, and the dogs love them. Molly always leaves happy. When he is at the day care I watch from time to time to see what he is doing, and it is always fun to watch. I have never seen any mistreatment at all when watching. If a dog has an accident, they are right there with a mop and towels to clean it up. The groomers do an excellent job of grooming him. The second time I brought him in, he got so excited as soon as he recognized the place. All of the staff are incredibly friendly. They clearly care about him, and he absolutely loves going there. I love that they have different levels of rooms, depending on what your dog needs or you want. I prefer to do the completely private room, even though my dog is small, to lessen the external noises he has to hear. Around Halloween they had "trick or treat" bags for the dogs by the front desk.
