DO NOT HIRE -- Unprofessional, dishonest, and completely disappointing.
I hired this coordinator for my daughter's quinceañera after meeting her through Facebook. At first, she seemed great -- responsive, organized, and eager to help. I made it clear from day one that my only request was to enjoy the event without stress or responsibilities. She promised that would be the case and assured me I wouldn't have to lift a finger on the day of the event.
In the months leading up to the event, we stayed in contact often. She asked plenty of questions, offered suggestions, and recommended a decorator she had worked with before. Based on the trust I thought we had built, I agreed to hire her recommended decorator. From that point, all communication with the decorator went through the coordinator.
Later, I told her I wanted to pay the decorator in increments to avoid a large final payment. She suggested I send all payments to her directly, saying the decorator didn't want to receive full payment early because she might spend the money before paying her team. Trusting the coordinator, I agreed and made all decorator payments to her.
As the event got closer, we finalized the timeline. I provided detailed instructions, including music cues and transitions. Everything seemed ready, and I expected the event to run smoothly.
Unfortunately, it was the opposite.
The day of the event, she called asking me to arrive early -- even though I had made it clear I didn't want to be involved in setup. I went anyway, only to find chaos. She seemed confused, disorganized, and kept blaming the hotel staff for things not being done, even though I know from experience how professional they are.
By the scheduled start time of 6 PM, the decorating still wasn't finished. Guests couldn't enter until 6:45 PM, making us 45 minutes behind schedule. It was incredibly disappointing.
Throughout the event, I found myself running around, fixing problems -- exactly what I paid her to do. The carefully planned timeline? She printed a version missing all the music timings we discussed. On top of that, she brought her daughter to "help," but ended up leaving the event for over an hour to buy her daughter food.
It gets worse. After the event, I contacted the decorator directly for the first time to ask about my deposit refund and a partial refund for some issues with the draping. That's when I discovered the coordinator had lied to me. She told me the decorator charged $500 for the draping, but the decorator confirmed it was only $300. I showed the decorator the screenshots of what the coordinator told me, and the decorator was shocked and embarrassed. It was clear the coordinator pocketed the extra money.
When I confronted her about this, she became defensive, even threatening legal action against me, claiming I owed her money -- completely false. I have all the messages and payment records to prove otherwise.
I also paid extra for an assistant to help my daughter during the event -- no one ever showed up to assist her. I later found out from staff and guests that the coordinator was rude, unprofessional, and even yelled at members of my daughter's court and the servers.
The entire experience was stressful, disappointing, and not at all what was promised. My advice: Do not hire this coordinator. She is unorganized, dishonest, and takes advantage of clients' trust. Speak directly to all vendors if you choose to work with her -- or better yet, avoid the headache altogether and hire someone else. read more
