I've had other makeup artists take artistic liberties with my face, and it traumatized me. I don't wear makeup regularly and Ruby is the only makeup artist I trust to ensure I look and feel exactly like myself, even when I'm all dolled up. I've worked with Ruby on 5+ occasions, including all my wedding events, and she always ensures I look like a polished, beautiful version of myself. She listens to exactly what I want and adjusts accordingly, instead of pushing what's trendy. Her hair and makeup lasts all day and night, so I looked as good at the end of each event as I did at the beginning. On top of being a highly capable and experienced professional, Ruby is also a super conscious and encouraging human that emanates positive energy. Working with Ruby always leaves me feeling calm and confident. 10/10 - highly recommended! read more

The eyebrow threading was quick and easy! I had a good time, she was very kind. But the process was rushed and now my left eyebrow looks like it's been cut through. Although she offered a discount for first time, I will not be returning. read more

I have been going to Ruby since 2002. She is extremely good in her field of work .I feel claustrophobic and only she can clam me down during the facials with her positive touch. Her skin care products are super gentle and very effective on my skin. Specially the face oil. Ruby I love your work, I love your products above all your services with positive and happy energy. Ruby and Afsheen are awesome! I had the best experience always with the organic facial--my skin felt deeply cleansed, nourished, and naturally glowing afterward. The treatment was relaxing from start to finish, and my skin stayed smooth and hydrated for days. Definitely a perfect choice for anyone looking for a clean and organic natural skincare. read more

My eyebrow threading was done very neatly and well! I recommend Ruby's service and her salon as it's very neat and tidy as well.

At Ruby's studio, you can get quality henna and threading at a reasonable price. It covers grey hairs so well and leaves a natural red sheen. I have tried OTC and Lush henna in the past, but neither were as rich in high quality natural ingredients nor as rich in color as Ruby's henna. In less than half an hour, she does henna and threading (brows, lips) touch ups for me once a month. Ruby is always a pleasure to chat with, and I almost always stay longer just to enjoy her company. When it comes to caring for her customers and selling quality products, she is the real deal. It is a great decision on your part if you are reading this review and decide to meet Ruby and try her services. So far, this 5+ year patron has no regrets. read more

I first met Ruby when I moved to the Bay Area in 2005. I have not turned back since then. Ruby has a charm and an aura that draws people to her. I have been her loyal client from when she was just running a beauty salon, to now a full fledged entrepreneur with her own, organic, home made, beauty products. There is no easy way to sum up an experience at Ruby's. If you are looking for a beautician, a friend, a therapist, a nutritionist, a healer or a sound board then head on to Ruby's. You will get all of this in one package called Ruby Walia. She is an incredible person. Not only is she an awesome beautician but she has proven to be a cosmetic scientist/Esthetician. Her Phool Pathi collection has left me in awe. I have been using her products since inception and I have seen a marked improvement in my hair and my skin. I have always been partial with my haircare and Ruby's henna and indigo package has left my hair lustrous, shiny, thick and healthy. You can never go wrong with Ruby. Please go there if you have not done so already. read more

I have been going to Ruby's Beauty Studio for 3+years now. Ruby is warm, professional, and very skilled. The studio is clean, organized, and relaxing. Ruby pays great attention to detail and it really shows in her work. She is gentle, meticulous, and truly cares about her clients. Her facials deserve a special mention. They are soothing, personalized, and incredibly effective. It is easily one of the best facials I have had in a long time. I highy recommend Ruby's Beauty Studio to anyone looking for quality service and a great overall experience. read more

A friend recommended Ruby to me after she had her grays beautifully covered with henna and indigo from Ruby's Studio. After just one application, I noticed a remarkable difference. My usually dull, frizzy hair looked shiny, healthy, and full of natural bounce. The studio itself is charming, with soothing music and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. I also tried Ruby's Phool Patti hair oil, which has a delightful herbal fragrance and made my hair smoother and glossier. I highly recommend Ruby's henna and indigo treatment to anyone looking for a natural hair care solution. read more

I have been a loyal client of Ruby's for 15 years, and her henna paste is truly incomparable. The texture and resulting color are so exceptional that I've become quite spoiled--even when I travel to India, I can't find the same level of satisfaction. I've now started bringing her packaged paste with me on international trips! I am also a huge fan of her hair oil. It smells incredibly fresh, and you can tell the ingredients are authentic and high-quality. Highly recommended! read more

Ruby's studio is truly a ruby in the rough. When trying a new place, it can be a gamble to see how your eyebrows will turn out. I was highly impressed, the results are flawless! I also did a facial (Vitamin C). She does amazing facials as well! The massage really helped my sore neck relax. 100/10 will definitely go again. read more

I've been using Ruby's Phool Patti Oil and Henna for some time, and they're honestly amazing! The oil smells heavenly and feels super calming. The henna gives my hair a beautiful, shiny, and healthy look. I received so many compliments on the color from henna (it's a deep red color instead of an orange color). Ruby is extremely customer-focused and professional, and I completely trust her and her products. I highly recommend her products to anyone seeking natural, effective hair care solutions. read more

Where should I begin, I am probably one of her oldest client and have been getting services from her since 2002. So why not a post before, well.. it occurred to me recently, I owe this one to her. So here you go! We started with family wedding looking for a make up and hair stylist for my sister in laws and since than I have been getting facial, henna, threading, event makeup, now yoga and more from her. Ruby is talented, hardworking and so passionate with what she does in her salon. I am in love with her signature mehendi and realized even more after I got somewhere else. Recently, I have started using her hair oil. I have in my head as I write this... it is power pack of vitamins for my hair and I love it. Her facials are not dabbing the stuff but real facial with full hour of massage, steam, blackhead removal that you see an instant glow after the treatment. I also tried yoga with her and I enjoyed the lessons and continue to do the breathing exercises every morning because of her guidance. I admire she is constantly experimenting and making masks, creams, hair oils to help her clients. She is a total package or one stop place when it comes to her services. I love them all, and continue going to her for all in these last 20 years. I was lucky to find her! read more

I've been visiting Ruby for several years for all my eyebrow threading, facial, and hair needs. She is very detailed and consistent with threading, and my brows are perfect every time! Her facials are very relaxing and my skin always looks so much better after. I also go for the hair oil massages and have noticed my hair is much stronger, silkier, and thicker. read more

've been going to this salon for over 15 years for my henna, waxing, and eyebrow threading, and Ruby has been amazing every single time! Even after moving more than 15 miles away, I've continued driving here for the past 10+ years -- that's how much I trust her work. Ruby is incredibly skilled, warm, and attentive. The henna treatments have really helped with dryness in my scalp and keep my hair soft and healthy. My eyebrows are always perfectly shaped, and waxing is done gently and professionally. The salon is clean, welcoming, and has such a relaxing atmosphere. Ruby truly cares about her clients and consistently maintains the same high quality and personal touch year after year. Highly recommend! read more

Quality service, feel very relax to have facial treatment at her place. Would recommend to my friends

I am very lucky to have found Ruby. She did an exceptional job for my wedding makeup. I couldn't go to India for the ceremony and decided to have it in the US. Was really nervous regarding how I will handle my pattu saree and make-up and stumbled upon Ruby's Yelp page. She went above and beyond with my makeup and the saree typing process. Firstly , I generally don't wear makeup at all and didn't really know what kind of look I wanted on the day, but she took care of everything . She understood what would suit my face and did an amazing job . I was supposed to get ready before 7am, and she agreed to start my make up at 4am. In addition to that when I had to change my saree mid ceremony , she drove all the way to the temple to help with the dress change . I am so grateful for all that she has done on my wedding day . She took care of me completely and I loved the way I looked. Would definitely recommend her to everyone who wants to get bridal makeup done , or even otherwise!! read more

I travel three hours round trip to tint my hair with henna by Ruby. Ruby is amazing; she is knowledgeable, kind, and generous. And her product is incredible. Her henna covers all my grey hair with a beautiful reddish-brown color, and my hair feels healthy and strong. I consider myself very lucky to have found Ruby and her phool patti. Bought her hair oil concoction and thought "here we go for another sucker experiment at expensive cost" Boy! Was i proven wrong. Her hair oil has made my hair less brittle and i have very fine hair that loves to get knotted even though i have bob cut. I have noticed less hair fall during shampoos. I see more black hair than grey (and i don't color hair) I had balding pattern and the depth of it has reduced significantly. Her oil goes far so not a lot is used The oil has made my scalp itch free and oil free thus helping me push out head baths fee more days out and avoid oiliness. Hair growth has yet to me monitored but i am loving this oil since last 4mos Definitely getting more:) read more

Ruby is an incredibly talented and professional makeup artist. She did 2-3 sessions with me to determine the right foundation and contouring required for my face before my big day. Putting in those additional hours definitely helped shape the final product. Ruby is efficient, to the point and punctual. She made me look a lot like myself but also did a great job in enhancing my best features. She also showed up at 3:30 AM after an hour long commute, so special thanks to her for that! Highly recommend her for anyone who is looking for a bridal makeup. She will make your day worth it! read more

Ruby was part of a very special milestone in our life - our daughter's wedding. She came highly recommended by several friends and we did a trial hair/makeup session with her for our daughter's big day. The trial worked out very well and we looked forward to the final days of the wedding Ruby curated three entirely different looks (hair/makeup) for our daughter's Sangeet, Wedding, and Reception and executed each one flawlessly! We were very pleased with all the looks, and if I may say so, our daughter looked absolutely stunning, especially for her wedding ceremony! I must add that she even did an amazing job for me (as the mother of the bride) with a very natural look of makeup, and not overdone at all. I would highly recommend Ruby for her bridal services! Looking forward to trying out her other services as well. read more

Ruby did the Full Bridal Makeup and Hair for my Wedding. She is totally awesome !!! 1) I took the Bridal package , facial , eyebrows threading , waxing & hairstyle for my pre wedding shoot . She offered the whole package at a very reasonable cost. 2) We did a South Indian styled wedding at Livermore .As others have posted it happens pretty early in the morning . I had to be ready by 7:30am . Ruby drove all way to Livermore and was there at 5am sharp . 3) I wanted to do a bun style hair . But was worried it may not look good .But she did an amazing work . Everyone loved my hair style . She made my eyes look more beautiful. My eyebrows have never looked so perfect. I totally loved every bit of the makeup . The most important thing was 'I looked like myself '. We were so sad to remove it . We felt like we were destroying someone's artwork while removing the makeup. I would definitely recommend her for wedding makeup , eyebrows , facial etc . I will be going back for eyebrows and facial Thank you Ruby for making my day so perfect !! read more

I started using Ruby's hair oil when I had dandruff and hair fall. In just a couple of uses of the hair oil the dandruff went away and the hairfall reduced. My hair feels healthier and stronger.I use the hair oil for my 9 year old daughter who has extremely thick and frizzy hair. The oil helps with her hair type too. Smoothens it and makes it more manageable. At first my daughter found the smell of the oil too strong but by the second use got used to it and doesn't mind it at all now. She infact reminds me for her weekly oil massage The head massage and eye brow threading is the best I've experienced in bay area. Her new location is cozy, clean and peaceful. read more

Ruby was amazing! She did all the makeup and hair for my Sangeet, Wedding, and Reception. Every look was different and every look was natural looking. She made me look like me still. The makeup was lightweight and beautiful. The hairstyles were gorgeous...there was one hairstyle I was worries about but Ruby reassured me that it would stay in place during all the dancing and it did! She also helped me outside of the event days, when a week before all of the events, my skin had a bad reaction. I was in constant communication with her and she helped me it. Ruby was my hair and makeup artist for my June wedding weekend at the Dolce Hayes Mansion last year in San Jose. Her work is incredible, I'll let the photos speak for themselves. I found out about her through my wedding planner, and after a conversation over the phone discussing my looks and outfits for each day, I knew I wanted her for all of my events. She did my sangeet, wedding (2 outfits and makeup touchups), and reception looks - every single one was perfectly crafted, unique, natural, and highlighted my features instead of caking me up. She did all of my outfit and jewelry/dupatta pinning, and had me ready on time for each ceremony. I have to say out of all of the hair and makeup artists I had interviewed and talked to, I felt the most comfortable and myself with her. She is worth the money (very reasonable) and travels to different venues, making it easier for people with early morning weddings too. She brought her team of two other makeup artists to do my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-laws looks and sari pinnings too for all 3 events (they all did a phenomenal job). There are so many great things I could say about Ruby, but here are a few more: she is prompt, dedicated, very talented, artistic, flexible, and can make any changes on spot. She made me and my family feel so relaxed that entire weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her! Definitely recommend her to all of my family and friends, and if you're looking for a hair or makeup artist - the chase is over! Just look at my photographs if you don't believe me. She is one of very few MUA's I know that brings out each bride's inner beauty and glow :) Thank you so much Ruby for everything! xo read more

Ruby was amazing!! I went to her for hair and makeup and she made me look way better than I could have expected. She was super communicative, discussed what I wanted beforehand. I have a short and very thin hair but she made it look like I have so much hair. I appreciated how she spent extra time to make sure everything was just right(even my bindi). I also want to call out specifically that she really rocks at applying eye make-up. I got a lot of compliments with it and my look. I would highly recommend her to friends and family. I have been going to Ruby's for the last 4 years and get threading, waxing, facials regularly. Ruby is extremely professional with a very warm touch and the result is outstanding quality of her services and her ever loyal customer base. She is very professional, punctual and her salon is always inviting, calming, clean and tidy. I have recently started trying her Herbal Oil and I am so glad to say this just continues in the Ruby tradition I have become used to. The oil has a lot of healthy ingredients and the best part is its fragrance. It is not overpowering like other oils but is very effective in helping with hair loss. I have been been using it for 2 months now applying it for a couple of hours twice a week and have seen my hair loss really come down. My hair is shinier, am waiting to see its anti greying effects ..with my Ruby experience I know I will not be disappointed. Rock on Ruby! read more

Thought I'd give this place a try since I was home for the weekend and my brows needed a good clean up. But now these brows are the worse my eyebrows have been in 4+ years. I have never been more embarrassed of my eyebrows. I've heard of people loving this place but I'm just not one of them. Maybe cause I didn't have Ruby to do my eyebrows personally but man, my eyebrows have never been so uneven and thin in eyes. It's so hard to trust people to brows and hair and this is why! My eyebrows start at different levels ( as in on eyebrow is higher than the other at the start) and they're thin. One has an arch and the other is round. I don't even want to fill them in cause it makes it look much more obvious. Grew my eyebrows out just to be butchered... Right before grad pics too. So much sadness and regret. Back to growing them babies out and going back to my usual place in SF. ): read more

I have been a client at Ruby's beauty studio for the last ten years. I think it suffices to say that Ruby is one of the best beauticians in the Bay Area. Her services are simply par excellence! She has an edge in the business since she has always ensured that she uses organic, home-made, natural ingredients in all of the facials that she has on offer. With my sensitive facial skin, I can seldom be talked into bleaching during a facial. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Ruby's mango bleach was gentle and did not leave my skin tingling. This is a testament to the lack of harsh chemicals in Ruby's products. The studio's massage techniques are sure to leave you coming back for more :). I also want to review Ruby's oil, which has been a life-saver for my weather-worn and brittle hair. The oil combines multiple natural ingredients that rejuvenate and repair the hair follicles. Using her oil the night before I wash off my hair leaves it looking smooth and lustrous. I have always found Ruby to be a very positive person who believes in giving back to society. All of this makes working with her a fun and pleasant experience. More power to you, Ruby! read more
