Went to get my nails done with my friend for the first time since having my child (10 weeks postpartum) and I wanted a slate blue and thought that's what I picked out but when they were putting it on, it looked more bright blue. I tried to address it twice during the first coat but was told it was the correct number to color. I hoped that it would look more slate blue as it continued but it just continued to look worse. So I asked them to remove it, which they did. They were booked understandably and could not fit me in for a new color but did charge me fully for what turned out to be a waste of time for me. So I left with no nail polish on and paying them full price leaving me frustrated. Cue hormonal tears and rage. My husband called cuz I was a mess when I got home and they told him I had just changed my mind on what color I wanted. This is my first time here and I absolutely love it! I'm not the type to leave a review but the customer service, to the time and care put into my fill-in and pedicure deserves it. Tuan did a phenomenal job on my hands and feet! I have no complaints whatsoever. Moving forward I will make a reservation first since I'm pretty sure I got lucky walking in. The basic pedicure I received included cleaning up my cuticles, cutting down my nails, the foot file, pumice stone, a scrub, lotion and a warm towel wrap up. And not in that particular order. If you're looking for a nail salon in the Harrisonburg area, I definitely recommend giving it a try! I love everything about this place. I'll be back when it's time to return. read more

Harrisonburg has a limited selection of nail salons, but this is one of the good ones! The reviews on here don't do this place justice at all. The place is spotless and very well decorated. I got a gel manicure and pedicure today with my mom and we are beyond pleased with the service. Michael was my technician and he did a great job and was very polite the whole time. I write this because I was a licensed cosmetologist for 35 years (hair & nails) and the nail service businesses we have now are unacceptable! I was referred to Rubi nails, so I decided to try, as I have not been able to find a nail salon that does good and proper artificial nails. I scheduled an appointment with Rubi nails and informed the girl on the phone I wanted "dipped" nails. Now, we all know when a new set of dipped nails are applied the nail tech removes the old nails and applies a new set. First, the man who did my nails did not speak a word of English, so each time I mentioned what I wanted or how I liked my nails another person had to come over and translate to him. Second, when he removed my nails I ask to have tips put on to make my nails longer. The owner gave me a hard time, as she said, I didn't schedule this and this would take too long. I informed her this was my first appointment and I was unaware I had to mention it. The man then placed "white" tips on my nails. I informed him that I didn't want the white, I would like clear. He kept touching my nail and "No." and continued. On completion of my nails they were large, too wide, white and had bumps on several nails. My nails were horrible! I was so frustrated, I said nothing to avoid confrontation. When I paid at the counter, wanting to be nice, I informed the girl that I didn't like my nails and I didn't want the man to do my nails again. I informed her that the salon was referred to me and the girl who referred me had beautiful nails. I said, I will book an appointment one more time, and I wanted one of the girls to do them. She booked me 3 weeks out. She charged me $65.00 Well, today was my appointment, which I scheduled 3 weeks ago. I live approximately 1 hour away, and while traveling RT. 81 was backed up with trucks. So, I called Rubi nails to inform them I may be a few minutes late. When I spoke to the receptionist and informed her I was on my way and I would be about 10 minutes late, she informed me my appointment had been cancelled. She said, she tried calling me; however, I never received a call or message with the cancellation information. I told her I booked the appointment 3 weeks ago and I lived an hour away. She continued to say, she tried calling me. She then said, "is this your phone number...?" and repeated the number. It was not my phone number. However, I had given her my phone number when I booked the appointment. She asked me to hold on as she was going to talk to her boss. After waiting on hold for a good while we were disconnected. The receptionist called me back within 5 minutes and ask me, "so what is your phone number?" Are you joking!!! I informed you minutes ago you had the wrong phone number, but now you're calling me back on the correct phone number, and instead of apologizing, fitting me in or asking to reschedule you ask me my real phone number! I was shocked! I told her to forget it and I would place a review on their page. What has happened with customer service? Nail services have become a NIGHTMARE!! It is so difficult to find a CLEAN, SANITARY salon! Where are the cosmetology health inspections, where is OSHA? How are these salons getting away with unsanitary procedures? I obtained a toenail fungus from another salon and now fear to have another pedicure. Does anyone know of any nail businesses that are sanitary, clean and can be polite, courteous and speak English, instead of pointing me to sit down! It's disrespectful to speak another language when your clients don't speak the language. Why not speak English, so everyone can understand? Chatting in your language when no one can understand you is down right RUDE!!!! And for those who will say, I am judging or being rude to say this...don't say you haven't thought or want to say it yourself. I respect every nationality and welcome all, but for those who want to benefit in this country, do business and have no respect of others, take payments and "rush" to do unsatisfying work can pick-up and leave! read more

I should have known not to come to this place from the start.. from the moment I called to make an appointment it sounded like the person who answered was at home, with her children screaming into the phone. The nail salon was very beautiful inside, and in the end my nails look good.. but they do not give you a foot or leg massage other than just rubbing the lotion on for 20 seconds, if you want pressure they stated that is an additional charge. When my friend asked how much it is to do one with a massage she was told it would be 65$. The lady did not get nail polish on the sides of my toe nails so I had to ask her to paint my full nails... twice. My friend did not get a massage either and they did not use anything to get the dead skin off so she was left with skin flaking off her feet. read more

I really wanted to love RUBI nails because of how nice and clean it was upon entering this nail salon! I got an acrylic fill with gel polish back in the beginning of September. Within a week, 2 of my nails completely fell off with no force and other nails were lifting. This is not typical for me as I take good care of my nails and I have never once had a nail fall off within a week of getting them done. I texted the salon and explained the situation and asked who my next appointment would be with because I wanted to try a different tech as I really liked their salon. They apologized and said the owner would do my nails the next time I came in. On the day of my appointment they texted me and said that since my original set was not done at their salon, I would need to have my set of nails removed and reapplied. I asked how much this would be and the total with removal was upwards of $70. I told them I did not have the money for that and decided to go to a different salon. I have since had the same set of nails (it is now the end of October) and I have had no issues with them falling off or lifting prematurely. I was extremely disappointed because I really wanted to love RUBI, but it seemed like they were just trying to make more money in the end. read more
