Probably the worst experience I have ever had at a doctor's office. My appointment was for 10 AM and I got there at 9:45 AM. I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours without ever being seen by a doctor. This office has not one but two lobbies. There is a main lobby outside and then a secondary lobby inside the office. The main lobby gives the impression that the wait times are reasonable because you only see a few people, but once they move you into the second lobby it becomes obvious how many patients are actually packed in and how unrealistic the scheduling is. You think you are closer to being seen, but instead you are just waiting longer in an unbearably freezing cold hallway. The worst part of it all was the blatant favoritism. Patients who came in well after me were taken back to see the doctor while I sat there and waited. It was not just one patient, it happened multiple times. Watching people get called in while I was still sitting there for nearly two hours was infuriating. There is no fairness, no respect, and no sense of order in how patients are seen. It makes you feel invisible and completely disregarded. Going to the doctor should not take all day. People have lives, jobs, and responsibilities. I don't mind waiting 20 or 30 minutes, but almost two hours is unacceptable. The office clearly has a scheduling problem, and favoritism only makes it worse. If they know how many patients they are booking, they should schedule in a way that actually gives the doctor enough time with each patient, not play favorites with whoever they choose. At the end of the day, I was not able to get any care because of the insufferably long wait. I have a job to get back to. My time is valuable and I will not put up with this kind of blatantly disrespectful treatment. This practice needs to fix how it schedules and treats people, or patients will continue to walk away unhappy. Now looking at the other reviews on here, this is not the first time this has happened. Dr. Ana Garcia is fantastic. Despite a very busy schedule she takes her time to listen and truly cares about her patients. Today my son and I were seeing by Dr. Ayala and I appreciate his direct approach and at the same time very professional and friendly. The office staff has improved in their customer service skills. Today, despite a very busy and packed office, I noticed the office manager walking around and making sure everything was running smoothly. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone because of the staff. The assistants are inexperienced. I went in with extremely high blood pressure and they told me I was fine, even though I knew it was high. When Dr. Iraida checked it again, it was still high. Then I went back another day with stomach problems and asked for a vomit bag because I felt unwell, and I don't understand how a health office doesn't have vomit bags for emergencies like mine. But the issue is the treatment I received as an assistant seeking a solution. It seems the solution is to vomit on the floor. They didn't react at any point. Then I went to see the director, Teresa Góngora, and in her office, I asked her for the trash to vomit in. She grabbed me by the arm and took me out of the office. I told her I felt sick and needed to breathe because of the discomfort, and she still took me out. I told her that if I had frightened her, I could go to her office for a moment to get an injection, but she wouldn't let me. Today, she doesn't know if I left feeling okay or not. She showed no humanity, much less professionalism. The staff is not good. With phone calls, they leave you waiting for a long time and don't give you an explanation. It's like there's no attention to the patients. I don't recommend anyone go there. read more

Terrible place, looks more like las islas canarias, appointment for 1 pm and 2;30 hrs later not yet seen ?? extremely ineficient place, and extremelly disrespectful with people that have a job, from Dr Ana, to not understand that you can not be with some patients for an hour and a half when the lobby is full of people !! after almost 3 hrs me and my wife stand up and left. My son is an emergency doctor and sees 60 people in a shift!!!! scam of a place were you came to see dr ayala and the front desk lady sells you the dr and the other non doctors but nurse assistants?? no wonder gringos have left miami. will find another more responsible place. im giving 1 star because i dont have a zero choice. read more

This place not only was the worst place to be seen, but the nurses were very rude. They only spoke in Spanish and when they got your vitals they got you in a room with other people watching and made you step on the scale and take your vitals in front of other patients. I waited for 3 hours to be seen, all I wanted was a referral to see a podiatrist. The nurses were very rude and the Dr barely spent any time with me. Never again. Currently sitting on their 2nd lobby waiting to be attended. So far they've only done my weight and blood pressure. Rest assure this is 2-3 hour wait. This is my second time at this location. I like the Doctor Aguilar but don't enjoy the 2-3 wait. So if you do end selecting this place be aware of the longgggggg wait. Don't worry about getting an early appointment or showing up early. Came here to get a new doctor since my pcp had retired. I've never been treated so unprofessionally at a doctors office I needed a simple physical assessment signed off by a doctor and they refused to do it because " Insurance doesn't cover it." As soon as you walk in you might not get seen within the next 5 minutes, but no matter what doctors office you go to there's always a wait time. At least here they try to accommodate everyone. I've been to offices that I show up early to my appointment but I don't get seen before because that's not my appointment time. The doctors are very kind and it is usually an in and out if you don't have a serious concern, of course the length of the appoint varies by person and situation. There's also a pharmacy right down the street. The office is also convenient because they do labs and X-rays inside and saves you the trip of going elsewhere. Doctors shouldn't release information over the phone do to HIPPA laws. So I understand that they don't tell me my results over the phone. Better be safe than sorry no? lso where they weigh and take your blood pressure machine seems to have been moved because it's off to a side now. I feel that after so many years of being in the field they're able to determine what's wrong with a simple explanation and diagnose you quickly and correctly. Which might be why some people say they don't listen. You can also reach a doctor directly after hours if needed when you call the office and that seems like an upside. Don't got an appointment? No problem! Got an appointment? HUGE PROBLEM! I've had 10+ visits to this office and so I can confirm for all new patients that YOU WILL BE WAITING FOR HOURS!! But if you think that once you're called you are in the clear then boy are you in for a treat! For even after the agonizing 3 hours you spend in the wait room, you now are granted the luxury of waiting another 30 minutes in "VIP Waiting Room" in the back. So at this point you may be wondering what is wrong with me that I've returned 10+ times, right? WELL JUST THAT! I've gone over 10 times to this office to FIGURE OUT what is the cause of a reoccurring abnormal pain/discomfort to treat it and lord and behold NO ONE KNOWS. Mind you I tolerate pain well, so for me to basically be desperate for an answer or cure is due to the stress and pain i was under which is why I didn't logically think before continuing on this exciting journey at "Ruben Ayala, MD". The best part is that the first three times I went, even though I specifically stated the physician I want to see, I some how managed to be seen by a different doctor each visit. But wait there's more! All three doctors ordered me to do blood work, for a total of three times in less than a month! Mind you the first one is understandable as it is standard protocol in helping your doctor properly diagnosing you. But the fact that the other two were unable to access my Blood work results via their system and/or physical patient files BLOWS MY MIND! But more likely than not they just simply didn't bother to check either, so now I'm stuck with the pleasure of paying a doctor visit + blood work bill THREE TIMES OVER!!!! And the kicker? After waiting HOURS each visit they take only five minutes or less to see you and basically tell you "We'll see you in a week to see your blood results to better assess your case." So I go for the follow up right, wait the 3+ hours, see the doctor, etc., and I'm told that I SHOULD GO SEE A SPECIALIST and pretty much handed another bill for the visit! It's crazy to think how much of a SCAM this office is rather than an actual doctor's office. Well to summarize the other times I went, I had to heart concern and wanted to make sure everything was okay for peace of mind. Well you know the drill: 1st visit - do blood work, 2nd visit - see a specialist. So the third visit comes around and I go through the usual torture, and finally see the in-house specialist. Just to clarify to everyone, seeing a physician is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than a specialist! So I see this cardiologist and after asking me a series of questions he comes to the conclusion that I, and I quote, "Don't have any heart issues because of the simple fact that you're young". This the cherry on top! For him to ignorantly say that to me when there are NBA player younger than me and in better shape, dropping dead further validates my belief that this doctor's office is a Thieves Den. After basically calling him out on this, he says "Well if you would like to have peace of mind, you could schedule an appointment with my secretary for a visit at my office for further testing." Further Testing? I asked him why couldn't he just test me right then and there, I mean only five minutes had passed meaning I had at most another 25 to spare for tests!? Well his response was probably the reason behind why I'm writing this review. He said "You have to schedule another visit at my office because that's where I have all my equipment to run the test, of which we don't have here." So once again I am stuck, actually no I was ROBBED with no answers, only another appointment to get mugged again. Personally I came to the conclusion that if it were a heart issue, I'd probably pass in the waiting room and be preserved there since the temp. is lower than that of any morgue. SO if the message wasn't clear, my recommendation is that NO ONE SHOULD EVER COME TO THIS OFFICE AS LIFE WAS MEANT TO BE LIVED WITHOUT EVER EXPERIENCING A DOCTOR'S VISIT AT RUBEN AYALA, MD!!!!!! (Exception to Lawyers as this is a LAND MINE of potential 100k+ lawsuits ripe for picking.) read more

Had a terrible experience at this office with Teresa Gongora whom I believed was a doctor but is actually a nurse practitioner. Never spoke or saw a single doctor and Teresa was an absolute nightmare. This woman spoke about my sexuality unprovoked because I guess she believed I appeared gay?? No idea. And informed me of how lucky I was I lived in this country being as I am a bisexual female. Red flag #1. She then began speaking about politics unprovoked once again, stating how all young people in this country are democrats and how we will learn how harmful and detrimental it is to be democrat, red flag #2. I was there for my annual and completed some lab work which they never called back about. I called the office asking if the doctor would call me to review the labs and received a call a few hours later. This 2 minute call consisted of the lady who called me stating that my labs were all normal when in reality there were some abnormalities. I questioned her about this and her response was "oh that's completely normal, you're a girl and you're having sex right?" And that concluded the phone call; she dismissed my concerns and didn't give me any explanation or methods to correct the abnormal result. Lastly I received a $114 bill for what they referred to as an "office visit" which was the 2 minute phone call. I called the office stating I refused to pay the bill when I never even spoke to a doctor, the phone call was 2 minutes long, and everything was "normal." The next day I receive a call from Teresa Gongora and all she could say, in Spanish while I was clearly speaking to her in English, was that she was sorry that I didn't think the 2 minute phone call constituted as a visit and there was nothing she could "services had to be paid" this place is incredibly unprofessional and I've tried contacting the billing dept, they leave me on hold for half an hour and hang up on me, the office staff is even less helpful I tried asking them for the billing dept phone number and they didn't have it. I am extremely disappointed and upset with this experience, would not recommend visiting this practice to even my worst enemy read more

Worst. Place. Ever. Would give 0 stars if possible! First off, it seems that none of the actual medical providers speak English well enough. I am fully bilingual but prefer to discuss medical issues in English. The PA I saw immediately spoke to me in Spanish & even made a comment about her trying to help me in spite of the language barrier (I.e. she knew I would be more comfortable speaking English but was unable to do the same). Next, I had a question a few days later and left a message. In English. Someone did call me back, asked me to explain the situation again & promised to call me the nect day. That was a full week ago. Lastly, I called with the name of a specialist to get an authorization from my insurance (abt 3 wks before appt with said specialist). I was told it would not be a problem but 2 days before the appt, my specialist called to tell me that they hadn't received the authorization. I called Dr Ayala's office again and was told, again, that it wouldn't be a problem. When I got to my appt, guess what? No authorization. Turns out they can only refer you to a limited list of specialists but failed to mention that. There 1 specialist that could see me had a 6 week wait. I am immediately updating my insurance & will never go to this third-rate dr again. Just awful. read more

This place deserves ZERO stars. Awful experience. The first two times I went in as a new patient and waited over an hour and a half to be seen. I couldn't wait that long because I had work so I always had to leave. I really dislike doctor offices that collect their copay before the actual service. I think that is why their staff or doctors don't try as hard because they already collected their fees (think about when tip is already included on your bill and you get half ass service). The wait time is what kills me. An hour and a half to two hours maybe even more of a wait just to have a five minute consultation. Probably more of the doctors fault for lack of urgency. The lady over the phone told me to get there at 7:30AM, it's currently 9AM as I write this review and I have still yet to be seen. This office is really the reason I why I hate going to doctors and avoid it at all cost. Find somewhere else to go and do not waste your time. read more

Dr Ayala treated my mother for years before her passing. Both Dr Ayala and his staff were always very attentive to her needs. Meanwhile, I started seeing Dr Ayala as well and continue to see him as he monitors my health conditions. His staff is very receptive and timely in responding to calls and prescription refills. His office is usually full but that's the way it is these days. I highly recommend Dr Ayala as he is very responsive and stays abreast of new medicines and technology. read more

Dr.Ayala has been my primary doctor for about 5 years now and I can honestly say he is one of the best doctors out there. He explains everything very thoroughly. All of the nurses are very respectful and nice. They try to help you as much as they can. I'm very happy with this medical office it's not like any other. They are very respectful and helpful. Dr.Ayala is an amazing doctor and if you have any emergency or question he's the one that answers the phone when you call the office after hours. I really love that and it's really helpful. I love this office! Came in because I have been coughing for a few days n having back pain and as soon as I walk in the people r so nice n it felt like I knew this people for many years. Took a little to see dr. Ayala but while waiting talking to other patients and staff members it was not that bad, time flew by. Once inside the process was fast and comfortable. I'm writing this review as I sit here an hour and a half waiting for my appointment (I was scheduled as the first patient) and I can say after years of being a patient, I am NEVER coming back to this office. I have been a patient first of Ruben Ayala and then of Teresa Gongora. I truly think she is the only reason I've kept coming back. She is the only doctor in this office that genuinely cares about her patients and listens to understand. However, I have had my share of terrible experiences in this office. Every. Single. Time. I know I will be waiting approximately 2-3 hours every appt. - even for results (which they refuse to tell you over the phone that everything is ok!) I learned that I need to be the first appointment of the day, but even then I know I'm going to wait minimum an hour. I've decided enough is enough, this office is close to my house but I will drive an hour to be seen by a better PCP office. Let's not forget the rude office staff, literally every single one of them has an attitude problem and looks at you like you're stupid. They can never get anything right and I honestly feel very bad for all the old little people that come here and have to wait so long to be seen by their doctors. You've been warned! read more

This is really the worst pcp office I have ever been to. I wish I could give it below zero stars. No one speaks English and when they leave you a message on your voicemail, it's in Spanish. When you call the office, their answering greeting is in Spanish, prompting you in Spanish. They answer the office phone in Spanish and when you respond in English, they continue to speak to you in Spanish. When you tell them you don't speak Spanish, their English is horrible including the Doctors. They have you waiting for 2 hours and then they tell you the Doctor left or when you show up to your appointment, they tell you the Doctor is not in the office and then you have no other choice than to see another Doctor if available, or you see a nurse practitioner. The staff is very rude, no professionalism at all. They don't show you that they care about the patients. They make you feel as if you have to be thankful that you're going to that office. They are not the only healthcare pcp office in Miami. I will be returning to my last pcp, a little far for me since I moved but I rather drive the extra miles. read more

Terrible place, showed up as a first time patient since I needed a PCP, was waiting for 2 hours to be seen and nothing, just walked out! The place is a factory, and from what i saw, if you get along with the nurses they skip you ahead of other people! Just the worst experience at a doctor office ever! This place is the reason Urgent Cares are so successful! I walked out, because do I really want a PCP like this?
