(Please don't shrink back in horror - these are people too.) I have done some work here, and it is hard, but I have encountered more frightening behaviours else where. The are courses for sex offenders, to make an intervention in their behaviour, though some may have ceased offending some time before. There are also courses for the partners of offenders, should they wish to remain in a relationship. Personally, I think this should be one to one, because it must be one of the worst pains in life to discover a partner has offended against a child. I admire most of the staff here - this is draining work. Tefferrals are usually made by Social Services. I know that in Poole the understanding of an offender was wrong, and it took a long long time to correct their premise. Long live this charity.

Children in Need is a fantastic charity which does so much for children who have problems in their…read morelives. I certainly think it is good to give to charity and i am impressed at what is achieved by this one. But at times I really wonder what priorities some governments have. While Europe is franticly raising money to give aid to poor countries, India sends rockets into space and develps nuclear science. Yet they have a vast part of their population who live hand to mouth, have unnecessary disease and who die young. I find this shocking to my core, having seen myself unneccessary poverty and disease. So please give to charity, but also petition our Government to do something to shame other countries to get their priorities right.

I grew up in a nearby town so have always loved this castle ruin, one of the finest in the country…read more Always a pleasure to visit for its majestic stature and wonderful views! As a new member to the National Trust the staff were very helpful with our questions and enquiries helping us resolve some issues. They were all friendly and polite throughout. The castle is stunning and makes for amazing photos, its a bit of a trek up the hill so be prepared but its always well worth the effort. Once up there you can see the steam train and the village all the way across to Poole and beyond, stunning views summer or winter. The castle inspired Enid Blyton for Kirran castle in the famous five books! If you want to enjoy views of and from a stunning castle setting this is the place for you, if you have been take another look it never fails to impress. If you have never been then the trip will be worthwhile, the town is pretty too and tourists fall in love with it instantly every time. The car parking is a fair distance from the castle but a pretty walk also. Continues to be A real favourite with me time after time!
