One occasion overnight where a patient happened to wriggle out of bed to reposition herself, and once the alert button was pushed the staff told her "you got yourself down there; now you'll have to stay there". That does NOT signify as reliable care. Another of the staff eventually got her up. Would like to give 2 stars but that event made me do an "almost" 2 stars. This may have been just a one time lack of judgment.

If a healthcare facility cannot even maintain the exterior of the building then I don't have much faith in the type of care they will provide. Quite frankly I thought I was at the wrong address because it looks abandoned. The foliage is overgrown with weeds and there was garbage thrown alongside the building by the front door. Upon entering I found a very unwelcoming reception area and the woman working there seemed like she couldn't be bothered. It was at this point that I decided to continue my search.

Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options,mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Adrian, jackie and the other therapists have been above and beyond helpful and provide very personalized therapy. katie the social worker has been there the entire length of my loved ones stay and i believe shes been there for sometime and shes helpful and encouraging the floor staff will help with what you need and do care greatly many of the staff has remained the same here even with the challenges our society is facing. kristi in the buisness office always wanting and willing to over insight and help no matter what the same for the housekeepers who my loved one has formed freindships with over the years they do far more than their job duties but really do take the time to personally know your loved one. yes every place has its challenges but this place is the most personable and clean and caring than so many others. I feel comfortable there as well. I am so thankful for Chesterton Manor and its even nicer to see how hard they try to keep up the facility with newer touches such as flooring , painting and decor to keep up. My father went in on December 30, 2020 and you would think they would have had things like communication in check by then since loved ones couldnt visit due to Covid, but they didnt. It was me calling around trying to get answers and most didnt call back. I cant say enough bad things about the communication at this facility. The initial take-in was with a person (nurses aid) who clearly hated her job. So there I am giving my father to a horrible person and I cant go in to make sure he is ok. It's the worst feeling in the world!! In 6 weeks there was nothing done with his dead arm. Only physical therapy, walking, etc. No occupational therapy and when I would ask I got nothing. Here we are 5.5 months after the stroke and still no movement in his arm. He did have shoulder movement initially, but all was lost it would seem from lack of therapy. They put a "compression" glove on arm. I put quotes around it because the glove wasnt providing any type of compression at all. That was it for the arm. I got 1 update about his status early on and then I forced 1 or 2 more updates, but was told they dont usually do that. Yeah...overall anytype of nursing home is a crap shoot and this place is no different. It's newer and fancy, but that's about it. The facility doesnt matter much if the staff isnt up to par. It's all about the administrator/director here. If you cant direct your staff properly and set proper guidelines to be followed then you are failing.

I don't know if the staff is overwhelmed or just callous. Whoever is in charge should be ashamed. I hope their loved one experiences the same treatment.
