At scheduling time, the receptionist was very nice and worked with me to find a time that fits schedules well. I was scheduled with Michaela for a Halo face framing type situation and was greeted very kindly by her and everyone else at the front desk. They offer you water and other beverages there as you arrive. There is also local crafted jewelry in the sitting area to browse. Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I appreciate them for being so accommodating and ease of everything. Michaela is a great stylist and I would recommend booking with her anytime! I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I always prefer to handle these things privately, but I also believe in transparency, especially when your first experience as a client leaves you feeling dismissed.

Deciding to leave a bad review a few months after this happened because I shouldn't have been…read morebullied and intimidated by the owner to delete my original 1-star review. Asked for the picture attached. Got something completely different. Asked to have it fixed. They agreed. But then they cancelled my appointment to fix it and told me never to come back because they saw my 1-star review. I physically went and spoke to the owner, who raised his voice and belittled me for being in the military and not making enough money to pay another $300 to get it fixed. I eventually gave in and said I would delete the review so they'd fix it. It was fixed, but my hair felt dead, like dry hay. I had very healthy hair before. I fully expect the owner to comment on this and claim I am lying. I have nothing to lose so I'm telling my story again. Do not go here.
