Following some discussion, Grayson looked over what she had to work with and made me smile. With the mess I gave her, I couldn't be happier. Many thanks for it.

Southern Roots had great reviews and they didn't disappoint. I had my hair colored by Amy and she was wonderful! She really knows her stuff and I felt really comfortable trusting her with my hair. I've been to many salons in the past where my hair did not come out the way I wanted (cut or colored). I was seriously SO surprised at the wonderful work Amy did. I have naturally black hair, and wanted to add a cool toned ashy blonde balayage. My hair turned out AMAZING. Went home and my husband was surprised, but absolutely loved it. Highly recommend!

Edited to add more info after the owner's response: I am out $300+ and my hair looks awful. I…read morerespect that your stylists get paid by commission, but in this case, no commission is deserved outside of the generous tip I left. I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I always prefer to handle these things privately, but I also believe in transparency, especially when your first experience as a client leaves you feeling dismissed.

I wanted it trimmed all the way around to my collar bone, NO A-line. He left the underside an inch longer than the top layer on the sides, left side an inch shorter than the right. It's been over two months, it will take another 3 months to get it back to where I wanted it. It will still be multiple layers. Brittany saw my hair & that I was upset, I wasn't charged & she offered to fix it if I came back. There is no way this was a one off for this guy. The manager should have realized he didn't know what he was doing & never allowed him to cut anyone's hair. He said he had been doing this for 21 years. I cannot recommend Ashley Spanier at The Boulevard Hair Co enough- you will NOT be disappointed. The salon itself is beautiful, stylish, and clean. I am not easy to please when it comes to hair. Most of my reviews on here are probably hair related…read morein some way, but I'm happy to announce that my search for a hair salon in Jacksonville, NC has finally come to an end. I would give this a 4.5 star rating for the following reasons: Isabelle was my stylist and instantly I recognized she knew what she was doing. She didn't have to explain everything she was doing and she didn't keep talking about her skills, she simply went to work. We looked at magazines to get a color scheme, and I explained what bothered me about my last haircut- and she handled the rest. I always am eager to see if a stylist can blow dry my hair smooth and straight without the assistance of a flat iron- which can be tricky with my wacky hair texture- and Isabelle delivered. Near the end, her next client showed up and yet she didn't rush through our appointment. The woman waiting (who had very long, thick curly hair) even said, "Take your time. I'd rather wait for her than let anyone else touch my hair" which was comforting. I know a hair cut can be hit or miss depending on what you're looking for and how well a stylist can execute the look. While my haircut isn't ideal (mostly due to the fact that my previous hair cut really botched my hair), I can tell the skill set is there for future cuts and colors. And price wise, I thought it was very reasonable. I got a full-head of highlights and lowlights, toner, cut and style and it came to 170.00. I've paid more than that in JAX for partial highlights and a cut. I know it's still a lot of money, but in the end, a good haircut can be worth every penny. Also, I wanted to say I went to their location at 413 Western Blvd,. I'm not sure if they moved or have two locations, but I cannot comment on the Country Club address location. The phone number listed here is the one I called.
