Queen Bee: chickpea patty
Donna D.

Mmm I 've found another burger joint to crush on. Royal Stacks. Royal Stacks where do I begin? Heard stories of the busy times and how one can wait half an hour for one of their legendary burgers. But I rocked up on a Sunday lunchtime, and it was quiet as anything. Sat down and took a gander at their menu, ah what to choose? I went with the Queen Bee a chickpea burger. A Red Velvet milkshake met me and my table first, and it was delicious. Creamy and sweet in just the right doses, topped with whipped cream and gold powdery flakes. I didn't know what that was, but no matter- it was gold! Shortly thereafter, the burgers came, all wrapped up in their protective paper. What delight. The chickpea patty was not dry at all, the bun was soft and fluffy. The lettuce and special sauce was a throwback to McDonald's Big Mac. It was delicious. Perfect sized to hold with two hands, and tasty to the very last bite. Gems are tater tots! Do you know how excited I got to see these American treasures on a tray? It was like a school lunch for me from years ago. Gotta check out their cool burger on the wall in the back, the lights go over it and it easily can keep one distracted while waiting for your food. With so much reminiscing and throwbacks, plus a good burger and a killer milkshake; I left Royal Stacks thinking of how good everything was and trying to plan out my next burger craving.

Winner, winner, burger dinner! Really great food and well worth the 20 minute walk. My husband and I got the stack burger and shared fries and gems. The burgers were cooked to perfection and the fries and gems had the perfect amount of crunch. Many of the locals suggested my hubby and I check out Royal Stacks because we're American and we are so GLAD we did. It gave us a sense oh home and reminded us of Shake Shack. Keep up the good work Royal Stacks!

Burger, cheese chips and a nice beer.

Was looking for a nice and easy old fashioned burger you can eat while holding it. No fancy patch cutlery just you, your hands and a nice juicy burger! And oh boy did Royal stacks deliver! The bun was soft, the meat was cooked to perfection and the overall taste of the burger was amazing. Paired with the fries drenched in cheese and an amazing IPA that the guy behind the counter Recommended this was one helle of a meal! 10/10 would go back

After nearly 20mins walking from Federation Square, I suffered from hunger pangs Crazy high-calorie food rescued me. I like the cheese chips, it is salty. Ummmm...burger is also good, but i think it may be better if using less sauce.

I love this place. My favorite was "The King." it was a delicious burger with a macaroni and cheese croquette. Also the sauce on it was really good. This was definitely the most memorable burger of my life. And it's halal (if you ask for it)! I also had the chicken sandwich, which I didn't enjoy as much but was still good. It was a very filling sandwich, though I wasn't a huge fan of the slaw on it. It was too sweet. They call tater tots "potato gems," which personally I think gives tater tots the respect they deserve. However they were a bit too salty and the cheese on it was not good. It was more of a nacho cheese and I think a white queso would have been much better. Service was amazing and the girls who took my order were really sweet. If I'm back in Melbourne, I'm definitely coming back!

Really good burger, worth the ride over to check it out. The cheesy gems were the bomb.

The Royal Stack single stack burger was really tasty. Although I like my patties still pink the flavour was really good and the pattie was juicy. The special sauce, cheese and pickles were of good quality and the lettuce was really fressshh. I also had the potato gems, which were crunchy and delish although I felt I could have been given a little more (in their defence I should have bought the large). Refillable cups of soft drink are available and my boyfriend got a Snickers milkshake which tasted just like the real thing. Service at this particular restaurant was also on point and I would return if I lived in Melb.

As someone that has added hours to US travel plans just to gorge myself at several In-N-Outs, and who has probably spent too many hours debating the virtues of their deliciously simple burgers Vs Shake Shack's (it's close, but In-N-Out for mine) I was pretty excited to see we have a local burger place that's closely modeled on these pop up in the CBD. Verdict? Solid. Not a game-changer, or anything mind-blowing, but a nice enough burger. Decor was pretty cool as you enter, though that fades the deeper you move into the place, and down the back ends up being actually quite drab. Maybe it's a work in progress, burgers included. Will pop in again if nearby (especially in a few months time to see how they settle in) but probably wouldn't rush back. It's no In-N-Out, but then again what is?

Royal Stacks has a great fit out. Its large, its in a great Collins street location, the staff are cool, the music is awesome and I like the TV screens that have different sports or music shows playing. That's just about where it ends for me there... The food by no means gave me a wow. I found it to be quite ordinary actually. I guess these days the burger competition is tough business but I really think Royal Stacks could up their game as it was such a shame we were left disappointed.

The concept here look simple. The menu is on the board behind the cashier, once you ordered, they will give you a buzzer which obviously buzz when your order is ready and you will go back to the cashier to pick up your order. We came on a Friday night around 9pm and the place was still buzzing with people all biting into burgers. There are a bunch of burgers to choose from, both my friend and I chose the Ms Elizabeth, which is the 1 patty with truffle mayo an a small fries to share. These are small skinny fries which I love. The burgers are delicious, my friend thought the bun was a little sweet for her liking but I enjoyed mine. The bun was light and fluffy, the patty was seasoned and the mayo delicious. One thing I don't love about this place is that as you enter the joint, the place smells greasy which probably better ventilation could help. Will definitely be back to try the other burgers and I am also very curious about the frozen custard.

Yum yum. It's an Australian imitation of Shake Shack! Great little set up with some excellent beers on tap, you place your order at the counter and in only a short time you will be eating some delicious burger goodness. Not a great option if you're vegetarian. And the prices are not great - it's pretty expensive for fast food. But it's worth it for the Mac and cheese croquettes. Delicious.

The Saint, Double Stack with added bacon, cheese gems & fries!

First night in Melbourne and we decided to try this new burger place out which is close to were we are staying (how convenient) hehe. It's pretty spacious inside and staff are extremely friendly. The menu is good/simple and not over the top. With 8 burgers to choose from plus sides and frozen custard!!!! OH MY GOD!! I had the Double Stack with added bacon and my partner had The Saint, for sides we had cheese gems and small fries. I'm going to call it as I see it and say that they were probably the best tasting burgers I have had in a long time. I loved that the burgers are half wrapped so it can catch any of the sauces instead of running down our hands. I just couldn't get over how good these burgers tasted. Dennis explained to us how the beef patties are organic and they make them in house, which is fantastic. After we had munched down our burgers we were feeling pretty damn full but then we were given 2 frozen custards and 2 concrete mixers! Ummm peanut butter frozen custard is the bomb! Nothing like I have ever tasted before, even tasted better than the salted caramel (I never saw this day coming). But will definitely return before we head back home, thats for sure. Thank you to Dennis for looking after us that night, it was a nice welcome back to Melbourne :)

Royal Stacks is a new fast food chain that will be popping up all over Melbourne. Burgers are priced between $8.50 and $13.50 and the standard of these burgers is outstanding. I am a sucker for the Mac n Cheese in a burger so the king burger was right up my ally and by far my pick of the royals. I also love potato gems and guess what, Royal Stacks serve with mean batch with melted cheese smothered over the top, YES! Also coming out of the royal stacks family are 7 Apples Gelato, it's always good to treat yourself with a chocolate custard goodie after a double Mac n Cheese burger. Royal Stacks is soon to be one of Melbourne's favourite burger joints so make sure you add them to your list and give them a shot, you wont be disappointed.

Good burgers. A bit pricey for the quantity but at least not oily as their competitors!

One of the best burger places in Melbourne. Been twice now and liked it more than the first. We'll be back again.

Very great burgers, the same as Shake Shack in US. It's a little bit pricy, and if you're on diet don't go there :)
