They're quite booked up so definitely book in advance, and they have a cats only grooming day on Tuesdays. I took my cat in at the scheduled time and they were ready for him on the dot. Easy paperwork, and they told me it'd be about an hour before I get a callback when he'd be ready. My cat doesn't even like it when I pick him up, but the team knew exactly what their doing and I can tell my cat was so happy and chill after getting a bath, brush, and nail clipped. He also smelled so good! Was very happy for my first ever experience taking my cat to a groomer, so I would definitely come back here in the future and recommend this place to my friends in the area.

We recently had to put our elderly dog to sleep. He had been with us for nearly 13 years and it was…read morean incredibly difficult decision. We had only recently switched vets, and so we had only seen the wonderful group of people at VCG a few times. Despite not knowing us well, they made time for us (with no notice); they did not rush us, they showed us genuine kindness. Oliver's overall health had been declining but manageable for a long time, but sadly throughout the night of March 4, there was a series of events that made it clear to us that we had reached the end of his time with us. We called VCG to explain, and they took us immediately. They listened compassionately, and despite not knowing us as well as our previous vet, they believed us and understood that we knew our boy better than anyone. They explained our options, patiently and without judgement. They provided a room with a couch and treats; we could take as much time as we needed to say goodbye to our family member. This was obviously a devastating event. However, the kindness that the staff of VCG showed us in giving Oliver a dignified and peaceful death meant the world to us. I'm tearing up thinking about it. After it was over, we were encouraged to sit with him, pet him and talk to him for as long as we like. They sent us home with a paw print and a patch of his fur in a little box (they had written "Oliver" in the sand). When we picked up his ashes a few days later, they gave us a second paw print for other members of the family as well as a "certificate" of cremation and a nameplate. VCG also provided resources to help us simplify the explanation for our 4 year old child. Today, unexpectedly, we got a card in the mail (pics below) The time they devoted to this detail was profoundly moving, and it meant the world to our family. Oliver was our first pet, and this is my first experience with a death like this. We had 13 years with this sweet soul; and the most heartbreaking thing was imagining that he might be forgotten. So receiving this card was exactly what I needed. I cannot thank the doctors and the rest of the staff at VCG Williamsburg enough. They were there for Ollie, and for us, when we needed them. These people will always hold a special place in my heart. Obviously, I highly recommend this group for all of your pet-care needs. They're great at what they do, and they care. What more can you ask for?

The reason I'm sadly having to give one star is due to the front desk person, Donna. After some kind of mix up with the appointment times, she started harassing me. She was extremely confrontational and hostile for someone at a vet office. To diffuse the situation, I explained that I'm only there to get help for my dog. I've been having trouble taking care of her lately because I have cancer, and I really need help. Donna continued being hostile, just laughed at me and said "right, maybe I have cancer too haha" - she actually ridiculed and mocked me. This is the type of people you have at a vet clinic?? I have no words for this experience. A huge shame since it seems the real vet staff seem lovely. Addendum: Someone replied to my review, *completely ignoring* the fact that their front desk person Donna insulted and ridiculed me for saying I needed help with my dog due to cancer. You literally ignored this? I've owned dogs for over 20 years and I've never had an experience at a vet clinic like this before.

Our husky has separation anxiety, but he returns more calm after each visit. We are able to keep check on him if he is boarding overnight, and any questions that we have are promptly answered by the staff. Absolutely the worst dog groomer I've ever used in NYC…read more My dog has been professionally groomed once a month for the past 8 years, and any competent groomer knows what a Lhasa Apso haircut should look like. I sent multiple reference photos and clearly said do not shave him. Lhasa Apsos have a double coat, and shaving it can permanently damage the texture. Guess what they did? They shaved my dog. Then they actually tried to argue that he looked like the photos I sent. In what universe? My dog has always had a round face, and they shaved his face down. The owner did call to apologize, but even then she wouldn't admit the haircut looked nothing like the reference photos. Now I'm stuck hoping his coat grows back properly. Shaving a Lhasa Apso changes the coat texture, which leads to matting as it grows back, not to mention it makes him vulnerable to overheating, sun damage, and skin irritation. Any experienced groomer knows this. Beyond that, the place smells terrible. There's no one at the front desk, and you don't get to see where they take your dog or how clean (or dirty) the grooming area actually is. I completely regret bringing my dog here. I only tried this place because we just moved to the neighborhood and our usual groomer is farther away. Lesson learned -- the Uber ride to the Upper East Side is worth it, because this never would have happened at Canine Styles. I will not be coming back.
