Before we entrusted The Dog House with our dogs, we first came and checked the place out. They have 4 main indoor dog areas. One for large breed dogs, one for medium, one for puppies, and one for senior dogs (they may also have an area for small breeds? I know they take dogs of all sizes). They have separate stall kennels for night time as well as crates if your dog is a jumper (ie: would jump over the stall wall). They also have a grassy outdoor area for the dogs to run around outside (with real grass, not fake turf that can be found other places). The indoor areas are mostly cement floor and cinder block walls with a wooden gate for going in and out. The senior dog area is the exception. Catering to older dogs who would rather be comfortable and sleep, more than play, they have dog beds and soft, comfy couches for them to lounge on. They arranged for us to bring the dogs for a half a day, so they could test them in the sleeping areas (decide if the stall or crate would be better), and see which area would be best for them during daytime social hours. They don't charge for this and I love that they place dogs individually, based on personality and temperament, not merely size. For example, Scout (our Irish Setter), is large. She is by all accounts a large breed dog. However, her temperament is super mild and she does't really have an alpha bone in her body (I've seen her go belly up submissive for small poodles). They opted to put her in with the medium dogs, which was awesome as it kept her with Boomer, who is her very best friend, and allowed her to play with dogs who are a little more her style when it comes to romping. The dogs play as much as they're up for all day indoors and every hour or so outside. Their prices are reasonable (given the level of care) and the dogs are always supervised during play. At night, they only have to go 6 or so hours before someone is there to let them out in the morning (mine go longer at home!). We decided to have them stay. They cared for them for 4 nights and we couldn't be happier. Our dogs came home happy, healthy, and exhausted from all the play. I will definitely use them any other time we are needing overnight care. I also will likely partake in their daytime daycare on occasions when I know, due to our schedules, that our dogs won't get much exercise/play time. Get to it!

I replied that Stella is an affypoo and is naturally very thin. When I went to pick our dog up, Amanda the registered owner told me our dog was way too skinny and needed to be checked out by a vet. I replied that Stella is regularly checked out by a vet and Amanda told me " I would get a new vet!" I then replied we had multiple vets as we travel " Amanda repeated that it was not normal and I replied again that " our vets said she's a healthy weight and she eats when she wants to and is a very active dog." After this, Andrew told me they had to shave her more because fur was matted and I explained we knew this as she lives on a boat in the summer. He then quoted a price that was way more than quoted and more than we've ever paid. I left upset that this business kept telling me my dog was too thin. I understand about caring for animals and concern, but this was overboard and rude. We happened to have an annual vet check up the next week and asked to speak privately to the owner. My partner said we had just been to the vet and Stella was healthy and we had the papers. My partner explained that after the appointment, I left the boutique very upset. Then, instead of apologizing they both become rude and dismissive. If this was my business, I would apologize and assure the customer that a mistake was made and thank them for bringing vet visit records and caring.

Dr. Wethered and Dr. Lieske are the only veterinarians I've ever trusted!…read more Dr. Lieske caught an abnormality in my cat's heart at the first appointment and referred me to a wonderful specialist. I had no idea that my cat was lethargic since she was always that way and no other vets had caught this. Now my kitty is on her heart medication and loves to play! Dr. Wethered performed an emergency procedure on my dog that not many vets here would have been comfortable performing. Unfortunately, we discovered tumors on multiple vital organs, but this procedure gave me and my boy an extra day together to do all of his favorite things. The team was so sympathetic while walking me through all the options (not that my situation had many) and supported me when I had to make the hardest decision of my life. Prior to this, both Dr. Wethered and Dr. Lieske performed a very successful double leg surgery on my dog. When I first adopted him, he struggled to get up, winced when laying down or sitting, limped, and his legs crossed when he walked. The doctors helped me make a treatment plan that lead to my dog making a full recovery without incurring any unnecessary costs. My dog and I had so many wonderful adventures with his new legs! The doctors and their team have been so caring and have an abundance of knowledge and skill. I will never trust any other vet with my fur babies.
