I've been a long time visitor to the Golden Nugget Lake Charles, usually making at least two trips…read morea year. I was somewhat disappointed this year. The positives: The rooms are always clean. The staff is always friendly. (I've read other reviews complaining of the rudeness of the front desk staff, but I've never experienced anything but professionalism.). The Casino Credit staff is amazing and always so friendly and accommodating. Same with the Casino Hosts; always very nice and professional. There are several good restaurants to choose from and, although they're touristy joints, the food is always good and the waiters are always first-rate. The negatives: Only half of the elevators were working at any one time and those that were working were in bad shape and dirty. And the swimming pool bar staff around the pool absolutely sucks...and they always have. Always. I've never been to that particular bar where the staff was anywhere near professional. Also, they were out of several premium liquor options and none of the frozen drink machines were working. Additionally, when entering the pool area, I asked for an extra towel. I was told that it's "policy" that each person is allowed only one pool towel. I let the attendant know that showed sh*tty service, especially for someone that was spending about $10k in their hotel and casino over two days. Not sure that I'll go back to the Golden Nugget now that the Horseshoe is opened up.

There was also a persistent sewage-like odor during my stay. I reached out to the hotel directly with documentation (photos/video) but did not receive a response, which is even more disappointing than the issues themselves. I would appreciate someone from management or corporate reaching out to address this.

The room: check in was incredibly easy and they have a kiosk for self-service. The room itself was clean, spacious, and had all the typical ammenties one would look for. I assume most people who stay at casino hotels don't aoend too much time in the room, but if one did want to do that then this is a great choice. The bed was nice and soft, pillows fluffy, and the bathroom was spacious. The gym was a typical hotel gym. There was an elliptical, bike, treadmill, and a bench with weights. I only used the treadmill, which seemed a bit old but did its job just fine. Downstairs you will find a Dunkin and pizza place. The Dunkin was perfect for a quick breakfast. The egg bites came out piping hot and were delicious. The latte was standard. The customer service was great. The pizza place is meh. Thick crust, thick layer if cheese, not many toppings. I would skip this next time. The casino itself was quiet but it was a lot of fun. I found a blackjack table and the dealer was super nice and taught me the rules. I had a great time.

    * Casino Only Review *…read more I know this is the biggest casino in Louisiana, but it is also by far the best! I live three hours away and will pass up a few other closer casinos to come to Coushatta. I'm a slots only player and really enjoy the variety they offer. I think their games are fun and they pay out decently. I don't ever feel like I just got my butt handed to me when I leave. I also really appreciate the free drinks they offer on the floor & thought it was really cool they have an Icee machine. I also like their alcoholic drink policy and the way you're able to order a drink at one machine, then move to another and still get your drink delivered to you. Their players card program is the best I've ever seen as far as comps and offers go. That's saying a lot as I've frequented casinos in Vegas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. This is my favorite place to play. I just wish I lived closer!

We were extremely disappointed to learn that RV park guests are no longer allowed access to the Dream Pool while hotel and chalet guests still are. As RV guests, we also pay to stay on the property and support the resort, so it's frustrating to feel like our business is no longer valued the same way. Unfortunately, this change has really taken away from the experience that kept us coming back year after year.

Not a horse, not a cow, not even a dusty saddle hangin' on a hook. It's a full-blown no-horse town, and somehow they're proud of it. But what it does have? Everything you'd find in a cowboy fever dream rolled into one building: A casino, a bar, a hotel, a truck stop, AND a convenience store -- all smushed together like somebody built it with scrap lumber and bad impulses. You walk in for a snack and next thing you know you're sittin' at a penny slot, holdin' a beer you don't remember ordering, wonderin' where your gas money went. And then... the bathroom. Cowboy, I walked into that stall and froze like I saw a rattlesnake wearin' boots. Right there in the wall was a random hole, just starin' at me. Not patched. Not explained. Not small enough to ignore. Just sittin' there like part of the experience. I didn't know whether to: * report it, * inspect it, * or get the hell out before someone on the other side blinked at me. Five stars for chaos. Five stars for entertainment. Five stars because any place bold enough to name itself Lucky Longhorn without a single livestock in sight deserves respect. If you want safety, go elsewhere. If you want a story... pull up, Cowboy.

I definitely love this casino and better than Sam's Town as they have much more machines there and layout is much better. They do not have any card games however unless I missed it. They do have a racetrack and you can go outside and see it. Rooms overall were nice, but the walls were paper thin. The issue was that we were next to people that had a lot of noise on the first night and were totally drunk and security had to come up and settle things down. Service was really friendly as they let us do late checkout. I hope next time we get to stay in a suite as in Sam's Town we get to stay in the suite. I probably had the most fun at this casino as they had a range of good games and I had some good wins and I probably came out a winner here. However, I wish I came out a winner throughout the trip. The only issue I have is the lack of machines to cash out the machines as during a busy night the line can get really long as I usually like to cash out the ticket. I did see a lot of people get jackpots, but I was not one of them, but I can see potential. They only had the 5 line version of the Ainsworth games, but I learned to play with the 5 lines and was not too bad. I did well on both the high and low volatile games and lasted quite a long time there. Unfortunately, I gave back most of my money as I was chasing the $10 dollar pinball as I really wanted to try for a jackpot. But I had fun though. It does get smokey and very crowded here. the slot machines are very close together and you can bump into people easy. The soda machines there are only 2 locations I know of. I definitely would come back here again.

I was vlogging and recording my own machine, and the front desk lady clearly told me it was fine to do so. But a few minutes later, three security guards surrounded me like I was doing something wrong. I felt completely racially profiled and embarrassed. To make things worse, when my mom tried to clear things up, the same lady who told us it was okay to record switched up her story and told my mom she "never said that." It was shocking and disrespectful. This was supposed to be a fun, relaxing birthday trip for my mom -- instead, it turned into a humiliating and uncomfortable experience. I didn't even finish my drink -- I left it sitting there and walked out. And as we left, security watched us like we were stealing. Delta Downs, do better. No one deserves to be treated this way. You've lost my business for good.

Air conditioning was mounted under windows and verrry noisy. Pillows were small for a king size bed. Wall recepticals loose and plugs falling out. Bathroom was a complete catastrophe, the shower had no light in it and had to shower by a light recessed in ceiling 5 feet away. Soap dispenser in shower didn't work probably empty! Had to shower with shampoo. Water temp was barely warm enough to shower. We ate at Roxy's diner in casino and the food was horrible. Wife was complaining of stomach issues. Fried fish was super salty and muddy tasting. Onion rings were under cooked and was just a mess of under cooked batter. Casino was like a ghost town and machines not paying at all. Overall experience was underwhelming by far. Probably will never return!
