WARNING--BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ROYAL LOCATION YESTERDAY!! We are Royal Club members, and very much like the Transit Road in Williamsville and Union Road in Cheektowaga locations. I've Yelped them both very favorably, and roll through very frequently, both my husband's car and mine. Yesterday we were in the area of this Royal, and pulled in for an impromptu wash. There was a bit of a line, about maybe six or seven cars waiting, but it was moving along fine. When we got up to the entrance of the wash, the staff was packing us all onto the conveyor belt really, really snug, basically bumper-to-bumper. My husband and I both thought this unusual and uncomfortable, compared to the other Royals we frequent. And that spidey-sense that something was wrong proved to be true!! When we got to the end of the wash, there was a very large pickup truck in front of us, and instead of rolling out of the wash as usual, HE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS!! My husband and I were SHOCKED!! He rocked backwards, and all my husband could do was break to not be pushed into him by the conveyor belt, with no room to back up since we were completely sandwiched up next to the car behind us!! The pickup truck just kept rocking backwards, as the conveyor belt rollers went under his tires!! The pickup truck seemingly gave zero effs that he was causing a potentially hugely damaging pile-up!! The employees also failed to do anything immediately. As soon as the line stopped moving, they should have stopped the belt!! Then it happened, the pickup truck nudged the front of my husband's car!! Finally, after at least a minute, an employee came, and seemed to be signaling the truck driver to shift into drive and pull out of the wash. The worker still didn't stop the conveyor, nor indicate to the truck to pull over, since he just caused damage!! It seemed like the pickup truck driver was clueless on how to exit a wash, and just never took their truck out of neutral to actually drive away!! When we pulled out of the wash, my husband was of course LIVID!! He immediately pulled over into the vacuum area, expecting the pickup to pullover as well. BUT NOPE, THE PICKUP JUST DROVE AWAY!! PEOPLE!! UGH!! THE WORST!! We were bracing for even worse, as the littlest brush on a vehicle seems to cause more damage than it feels like it should ... BUT LUCKILY only my husband's license plate was smooshed. The cars behind us all pulled into the vacuum area too, and everyone was commiserating about the pickup truck that caused the whole debacle. Luckily nobody had any damage, beyond my husband's plate. The Royal staff didn't come over to address the issue at all!! It seemed to definitely be the pickup truck driver's fault, BUT I place some blame on the Royal staff for packing us onto the conveyor belt so razor-thin-closely!! And not stopping the belt as soon as there was an issue!! At our usual Royals, I don't think we're ever packed in quite so closely, where if something like this were to happen, there is at least a half-car-length of space between vehicles in the wash. PLUS at our usual Royals, if it is ever busy, there is a guy stationed at the end of the wash to make sure people are driving away correctly. This Royal had three or four guys in the front of the wash, and NOBODY watching the end of the line. The bad pickup truck driver, but more so the irresponsible staff are both reason enough for us to steer clear of this Royal location now. DRIVER BEWARE!! :-( read more
