If you want a lukewarm wet noodle who empathizes with all your baggage, Joe Bak is not your man. However, if you want a therapist with a penetrating intellect who makes well-timed interventions with well-crafted observations, you need look no further. My wife and I go to him together and we find him brilliant along several veins: (1) Suggesting effective strategies to resolve issues, (2) serving as a referee in our discussions during therapy, and (3) maintaining a low-key, non-threatening approach. He's been very flexible in scheduling appointments and we've had no billing or other admin issues. The "brusque" manner that Ann N. bemoans I find to be a thin veneer stretched over a very dry humor. If I have any complaint about Dr. Bak, it would have to be that he has a tendency to be a bit late to appointments (he runs between two offices - we see him at the one off of Dairy Ashford near I-10).

Sessions were sometimes tough and sometimes caused a lot of friction, much needed conversations that allowed my son to get to know himself, see action and result. Dr Solomon became one who cared; a confidante, when my son had little else. Dr Solomon holds a position of great regard to me and my son for getting to the tough things and drawing out of my son his own methods in coping, healing and growing into a young man.

We all have our stresses: Work, relationships, family, friends ... and you can't always turn to close friends and/or family because A) They're your stress triggers or B) They can't give you unbiased feedback. Especially my family. Opinions, opinions, opinions. Sometimes, you need a professional. Shana Clark is a licensed professional counselor, and she specializes in so many issues: relationships/couples counseling, anger management, career counseling, problem solving, drug/alcohol abuse, grief/loss, anxiety ... I like that she has a spiritual background, and she is one of the few in people in Houston who uses the Thought Field Therapy/Emotional Freedom Therapy (TFT/EFT) and Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) aka "tapping" to clear of any negative emotions, energy and thoughts. She's also very honest and doesn't "shrink" you ... she tells it like it is based on professional experience. I dig it.

In Dec 2016, I was going through an emotional meltdown after having 2 accidents back to back, a…read morebroken ankle, a boundary less life that was driving me knots, a sexual assault by my Father-In-law and deep seated emotional hurts from my childhood that constantly got me depressed. I had never seen a counselor/therapist before so I was very picky and did a lot of research. I wanted someone who shared the same faith with me and had experience handling the issues I was dealing with. I narrowed my search to Jamie and that was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. Right from my first meeting with Jamie, I felt very comfortable, zero judgement, I was free to bear my heart out to her and she diagnosed the root cause of my issues which was a life with no boundaries. I had the biggest light bulb moments I've ever had in my life during our sessions. I spent over a year with Jamie and each session was super refreshing. I looked forward to each session. She uncovered a lot of connections from my past that were affecting some of the decisions and choices I was making. It was mind-blowing.
