As we got off the freeway, she looked up and there was a coffee shop right down the street. He stopped in here for a quick bite. The two barista is helping us were incredibly helpful and patient since we had to read everything on the menu. I also loved how their store was set up and they sold local arts and crafts from the community! I love the community aspect here in Santa Cruz County! Perhaps she misread the menu, but she thought "egg stacker" was a sandwich because it was under the "bagel sandwich "category. But under the description, it does not say there's any bread. Lol, which is better for us since we're trying to be gluten-free for the day. I had an ice green tea and a salmon egg which was delicious and filling perfectly made egg with the right amount of capers and seasoning for each bite to have enough flavor on it. The green tea was perfect since it was 92°! I can't wait till we get to the beach! I was sad. They didn't have any nitro coffee, but I will definitely come back to try more pastries since it seems like they were out but then again we got there about 30 minutes before they closed. Lol.

They also have whipped cream which I enjoy when I wanna have a little cheap day and they had such cute art and tables to sit at to enjoy your drinks or pastries. I love a place that makes seasonal drinks and that are friendly and happy to serve you. They have a lot of options for things to buy whether it's dessert or a breakfast pastry. The location is super random. It's like on the side of like a bus stop area, but the coffee is so good and I can't wait till I'm in the area again to order more and actually sit and enjoy it when I don't have to rush to a meeting. Everyone was super nice and friendly and had a great morning vibes.

The cozy atmosphere and charming details make it a perfect spot to slow down and savor something special. The cinnamon vanilla croissant is a standout--perfectly flaky on the outside, soft and buttery inside, with just the right balance of warm spice and sweetness. It's indulgent without being heavy and pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee. The tarte provençale is equally impressive, featuring a crisp, delicate crust topped with savory, well-seasoned vegetables that taste fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Whether you're stopping in for a pastry or a light meal, this bakery delivers authentic flavors and undeniable charm. It's a must-visit for anyone in Scotts Valley who appreciates classic French baking done right.

I had to rip it and then couldn't really chew it either. All the pastries looked too over baked and I figured it was just what happened that day. This time was the same but I ordered a Kouign Aman because it's a favorite and I thought I'd just rip it apart if necessary. I was asked if I wanted it reheated, yes please, but the result? All the sweet buttery goodness ended up on the bottom and hardened. I flipped it over, gently peeled back the paper and broke it up cause I paid $7.00 for it and I was not giving up(and $6.00 for the latte). It took work and strong teeth but the mission was accomplished. They have a wide selection of other types of food so I may return and give it another go with a non pastry item. The latte was great and the ambience is nice. I am still scratching my head about the dark, crunchy and almost burnt treatment these pastries receive. What am I missing?

It's a chain. It's basic. The black coffee was drinkable-ish. The bagel sandwich was really good…read more But I will likely never go back. Bagel sandwich 3.5/5 stars, coffee 0/5 stars. When I tell you my friend's coffee was bad, it was bad enough I would tell you to go get burnt bean water from a major national coffee chain before getting it here... and the whole coffee interaction was so very bizarre... She ordered a latte with soy. When they brought it to her, they handed it to her in a way the lid popped off and when she attempted to take it from them to sip the coffee, as it was overfull, so she could put the lid on, the guy pulled it back away from her as she's saying "it's fine" and takes it back out of her hand, walks back to the kitchen sink, and dumps out a good inch at the top before putting the lid back on and bringing it back to her. It was really weird to insist on taking it out of her hand and super odd choice to try to solve an ill-fitting lid by dumping out part of the drink she paid for. The way he took it from her weirded us out. It was not helpful and friendly, it was insistent and domineering. We immediately wanted to get out of there and get to the car... and the lid pops off again and again, every time she picks it up. The worst part is that afterward she noticed white dry powdery crud settled at the bottom, not mixed in. No clue what it was, but our best guess was they use some sort of powdered soy milk and they didn't mix it in correctly. TL;DR - Get your coffee anywhere else.

I got a sesame bagel with lox, cream cheese, and green onions. I would have preferred a bit more toasted, but now I know what to specify next time! Though it is a small space, everything is clean, the service is quick and friendly, and it has great lighting with all the windows. I would have loved to stay and work, but unfortunately they have very limited indoor seating because of the space. Excited to return and try more offerings!

The menu is available online and they take same day orders via phone. Pickup was a little hectic as there were a lot of people in the bakery. I waited in line for a ticket and then waited for my number to be called, but found out that I could have just walked to the end of the bakery to pickup at the counter in the corner. I would probably add a sign to make it a little more obvious for those new to the bakery, nonetheless the pastries were amazing and nothing else matters. Everything was sweet but balanced with acidity or nuttiness. Great mix of textures and the crust does not fall apart even after a whole day in the fridge and being manhandled into cut portions. I'd highly recommend this place for out-of-towners, as those that live there already know it's the best.
