We got the Brown sugar oat with walnut ice cream, I also really enjoyed the bitter caramel, which really was bitter but perfect for people who don't like too sweet of an ice cream. Quinn was the employee who helped us out, she was so sweet and accommodating! She gave us recommendations convinced us to get the marshmellow fluff which we are grateful we tried. Thank you Quinn!

When my boyfriend and I walked in, one of the employees was having a conversation with what looked like friends. I didn't mind at first because there were two other employees standing at the front, so I assumed one of them would help us. Instead, we stood there for several minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I understand if the other employees weren't assigned to the register, but what bothered me was that no one even took a second to say, "We'll be with you shortly." A simple acknowledgment goes a long way and would have made a big difference. The lack of customer service and communication made us feel ignored so we just ended up leaving and went some place else. As someone who has supported this business for a long time, it was disappointing. I hope management addresses this because good customer service is just as important as the product itself.

It starts by them using quality ingredients. They use Marianne's vanilla ice cream, and Valrhona chocolate (a French chocolate used by gourmet chefs). You can choose milk chocolate or dark. They have a bunch of options for what you can include in your bar, including chopped almonds, caramel, and marshmallow. My favorite is #4: dark chocolate with caramel and marshmallow. It is insanely good. After each bite I am thinking "oh my god this is good." Frankly I am glad it is in Santa Cruz (and not in my town) or I might be 50 lbs heavier. I just had one yesterday and the experience is still vivid. Oh, and their chocolates (which also use Valrhona chocolate) are also damn good. And if you like brownies they've got you covered too. The guys running this place could not be nicer, which makes this place a joy to visit. This is really an exceptional place to come to and we are lucky to have it in our area. I am now a regular almost every time I am in Santa Cruz (and I come here often).

A bit on the pricey side for sure, but holy cow was it delicious! My wife and I both had to be careful not to eat it all in one go. We wanted to spread out the joy of eating it. Incredible chocolate, local business, somewhat pricey. Definitely worth checking out!

This was my second visit and I decided I really needed to rereview it!…read more My first visit was during Covid. They were open but I think items were limited at the time and we were still masked up. My experience then was less than stellar but honestly, I think we were all still on edge. For this visit, we stopped in before heading home to pick up some pastries for a light breakfast. It was around 10 am and it was bustling. Clearly it is a popular spot but the line moved fast. We ordered ham and cheese croissants, an almond croissant, cinnamon roll with raisins (you can get them without as well) and an apricot pocket. Everything we tried was delicious and I mean DELICIOUS. The pastries were buttery and flaky and I am craving another almond croissant as I write this, lol. We didn't want to order any hot food since we were about to hit the road but they also sell breakfast sandwiches and burritos and it smelled heavenly in there. It is a little cramped with a few small tables but there is also a patio with a kind of wild garden which was very charming. I can 100% see this being a must stop for us whenever we visit Santa Cruz!

Got the chiffon marionberry and lemon curd at almost a whopping $5 a cupcake. The whole cakes in the display case looked nice, but the cupcakes sure did not. I was hesitant when I saw their raggedy appearance (I photographed the best side!), but was hopeful the taste would blow it out of the water so much I wouldn't care what it looked like. So, both cupcakes were light, but dry...the marionberry moreso than the lemon curd. The marionberry also had buttercream, which we both don't care for, which of course, is a personal preference. Glad we tried before we committed to a whole wedding cake.

My experience at Ferrell's Donuts on the evening of Sunday, August 2, 2026, around 8:25 PM was…read moreextremely disappointing. I spent $43.49 on donuts and even left a $5 tip, expecting at least courteous customer service. Instead, I was met with a rude, impatient, and dismissive cashier. From the moment we walked in, she was rushing us while we were still trying to decide what to order. Her attitude was cold, snooty, and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her simply by being customers. After paying, I immediately tried one of the old-fashioned donuts while still inside the store. It was stale. I politely returned to the counter and asked if I could exchange it for a fresh one. The cashier immediately said "No." She insisted the donut was fresh and claimed her boss wouldn't allow her to exchange it because she could lose her minimum-wage job. There was no apology, no effort to inspect the donut, no willingness to make things right, and absolutely no concern for customer satisfaction. Think about that for a moment. I had just spent $43.49, left a $5 tip, and they refused to replace one stale donut that I had purchased just moments earlier. The issue wasn't the value of a single donut--it was the complete lack of customer service. A business that won't stand behind the freshness of its own products and treats paying customers this way won't be getting my business again. The stale donut left a bad taste in my mouth. The customer service left an even worse one. I hope management reviews who was working the register on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 8:25 PM, because this interaction reflected very poorly on Ferrell's Donuts.
