They have an updated nice playground with soft footing underground. There is tennis courts as well and a walking area that is paved. The negative for me was that I didn't realize it was backed up to an elementary school. So when I brought my 19 month old grandson, all of a sudden the school day was over and a flood of children came to the park. I expect that this is probably a daily experience around that time of 3:15 PM. So it was a little bit overwhelming with so many kids flooding the playground and the grassy areas. I would say it would be a good park to go to prior to that time.

Any given summer, parents of schooled kiddos begin racking their brains for any possible way to run their kids ragged in hopes of getting them to go to bed before their way-later-than-the-schoolyear bedtime. That's where Bluejacket pool comes in! Out of all the Overland Park pools, this one seems to be the sweet spot of central location, perfect shape (keep an eye on those kids from anywhere in the facility!), entertainment options (read: slide, diving boards, basketball hoop), seating, and shade. That last one being of utmost importance for us weekday desk-jockey types. Yes, by that I mean pale. Okay, I said it. There's plenty of parking, good shower rooms with provided soap, plenty of seating (in-shade and in-sun), zero-entry, kiddie pool, and all the other above-mentioned features. We love that it kind of fits in between the standard, rectangle lap pool and the all-out mini-waterpark approach. The latter of which is guaranteed to be jam-packed no matter the day of the week. Here, there's always a good amount of room to practice your strokes or soak up some rays! Last but not least, we've always experienced it to be extremely clean and well-stocked with lifeguards!

Did that and stopped at the booth/hut. Staff stared at me until I rolled down my window to let them know I had up close parking. Was waved to a little lot super close to the booth that was farther away than the regular parking. It was nice for getting out but people who parked in the regular lot were closer and got to the front faster than we did. Getting into park. We were standing at the Fast Lane desk, waiting for the park to open. Divided and conquered to send one person in to ask about them, person inside said they would do fast passes. Got out of line, went inside they said "No I am coming outside." Got fast pass and headed for the Riptide Raceway. Fast pass not needed as there was no line. Lifeguard at the top was so nice. Giving us tips, was nice when my kid let go of the mat and they had to call for a lifeguard to go down the slide to get it out. This ride uses a foam mat with plastic handles in the front. Rode Aruba Tuba. It drops you off into Coconut Cove which is the kiddie pool (3 feet deep everywhere except where the ride drops you off) this pool was closed as they were doing lifeguard drills. Staff was pretty rude about not allowing you in the pool. Seems they should have finished with training/drills prior to open but what do I know. This ride has 2 person tube or single tube. Typhoon was closed. Sad as it was my favorite ride when I was a kid and I wanted my kid to experience it. Used fast pass for Hurricane falls. We were the only ones in fast pass lane and we got on super quick. Ride was meh. One at Hurricane Harbor in STL was more fun. This ride needs multiple people working it. The poor lifeguard had to walk out of the pool, grab the raft from the lift, bring it to the pool, hold it steady, load passengers, help them push off, then repeat. Ride operations would have been improved by 2 lifeguards. Did all 3 slides on Shark's revenge. The purple one is completely enclosed, dark and has glowy lights. These are tube rides where you can ride a 2 person tube or a single tube. I rode 1 of 3 of Predator's plunge. Red was closed and I rode orange. Allegedly yellow is "slower." These are the slides where you stand on a ledge, they close the plexiglass cover (like a coffin) there is a robotic countdown then you are dropped down. This is a body slide vs using a tube or raft. Kidlet spent lots of time in the wave pool and checked out Captain Kidd's even though some of the slides on there were closed. We skipped: Caribbean Cooler, Crocodile Island, Flamingo Beach club (21+) and splash island. Did not purchase food or snacks. Tried to use our Icee plan. Staff refused to help us. Said we had to go to guest services. Guest services stated staff lied and they can help us and to go back, tell them or look for a supervisor. I chose to go to a different area to get an icee and had no issues. We had 2 icees while there. Pina colada for me and cherry for kidlet. The lockers here were much better (they could be kept open until you were ready to close it) although the locker we had was located in a row with a huge puddle. I was surprised they did not send someone over to sweep/squeegee the water away. They had one water bottle refilling station on the men's restroom but it did not work. The person at the icee hut let me fill my water bottle there. We made it longer at this park than HHSTL (5 hours vs 2). It was fun to revisit a park from my youth and take my kid. If in the area again I would go back, even though this park will no longer be on my Six flags pass as they were purchased and are under the management of Enchanted parks now. Lots of room for improvement with guest interactions but was an enjoyable day.

The room was spacious and easily accommodated our family of five. And when we weren't able to check in on time, they immediately and preemptively gave us free laser tag and mini golf passes for our whole stay. That is great customer service. Finally, this is a nice location, with close proximity to groceries and an outlet mall. On the negative, the hotel is really showing its age. Our faucet didn't work properly, our microwave had to be replaced, and our door needed to be slammed closed and pulled open hard. It's noisy too; our neighbors upstairs were not conducive to our sleep, as we heard their every step. Oh, and we did not know this until our third day, but you have to *ask* for housekeeping. I expect more when paying $350/night. As I said at the top, GWL is mixed. Not sure I'd come back, but fine for a one-time trip.

When we arrived on…read moreSunday, we opted to do mobile check in however, we needed to wait in line to speak to the front desk to grab our wolf passes and add an additional car for parking. During check in time the lobby was hectic and there is only two elevators on property, which meant a lot of waiting around with the luggage. Once we arrived in our room, our top deadbolt lock was broken on the door. I used the app to report it and maintenance did come within an hour to fix it. The rooms were fine, clean. We didn't hear anyone during our sleep which was nice. The upstairs lot got hot so we did have to keep the AC running pretty regularly throughout the night. We booked the private cabana for about $400 and honestly we all agreed we would pay for it again. It was nice to have a private area and was perfect for my 2 year old to chill out when she needed. The cabana included 4 unlimited drink cups, two branded towels to keep, pizza, wings, cheese bread and two additional travel cups. We did have a server there too if we wanted to order more items. My kids loved the waterpark, however one slide was off for one of the days that we were there. There was plenty of staff and lifeguards around. The downside is that the waterpark doesn't open until 10am. It would be nice if they opened the waterpark earlier, or had earlier hours for hotel guests and then opened to the public at 10. We did the wolf passes, and my son loved the MagiQuest. The wands that are included are pretty basic, but they do have upgraded wands that you can purchase that light up and have fun toppers. Pricing is between $20-$30 per wand. Wolf passes included an ice cream - the shop was very slow and out of a lot of options. The ice cream machine was down so we could only order hard ice cream and those options were quickly gone. We got the candy cup (included), honestly I was impressed with the amount of candy the kids got. This was self served. The laser tag game was fun, and lasted about 5-7 minutes. Kids under the age of 7 must have a parent with them in the laser tag arena. The arcade is open 24/7. They had some fun games that my kids enjoyed. With the Wolf passes you get three games to play so it goes quick. We looked at reloading on a card but the cheapest option was $20, which wasn't worth it for our family. Build a bear that was included in the package was a brown or white bear, again pretty basic. No worries, because they have plenty of other options you can purchase at a cost. The downside is that I had to go ask employee where we find the bears included, they weren't set out, so of course by the time the employee helped us my kids had scouted out other "more fun or colorful" options. Towards the end of our stay, one out of the two elevators was down. Which caused a lot of backup in the hallways. Overall my kids 2 and 5 year old loved their stay. I wish there were more things to do in the morning. Quiet hours are between 11pm-7am. I was hoping we could walk around and do MagiQuest when we woke up but it doesn't start until 9am. Pool, laser tag and mini golf doesn't open until 10am. I am surprised for a place designed for kids there wasn't more options for earlier activities.

June 2026- DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE HANDICAPPED and want to ride coasters…read more So here is my June 2026 review...and I can't wait to update this in a few years. This park has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see what the Enchanted people do to/for it. There were a lot of rides down, like a lot a lot. Someone in the parking lot warned us as they were coming out and we were going in that "more than half the park is closed" and he wasn't wrong, but not being locals these were the two days on our road trip that we could come to this park. A bunch were down for the two days we were there with nothing to indicate they were going to open...Others had opened and closed a few times over the two days. There are walking paths that would have made life on this forty-something year old easier that were blocked off for the train tracks. (I imagine on years when they were better staffed they had someone at these spots to open and close the gates as needed for the train.) These spots would have saved a good amount of time, and some energy. It frustrating to see where you need to get to, but you have to walk pretty far out of the way...and in at least on spot down a steep hill and back up it so you go under the train to get there. The few restrooms I went in seemed clean enough...pretty good actually for an amusement park. The staff I encountered seemed nice enough....but should realize that if someone is getting an ADA pass because they don't get along with stairs, maybe let those people know it's going to be a rough day and elevators may as well not exist in this park. Really, there should be staff at the ride entrances for all of the rides. They should be able to tell you where the ada entrance to the ride is located. (The entrance to the ada isn't always obvious. It's often the exit to the ride, but if you've never done a ride before then you don't know where you're going to come out.) If there was a staff member at the entrance to each ride they could let you know that either the elevator doesn't work, or that you need staff to help you with the elevators? I'm not even sure if all of the elevators needed staff/ a key to operate, or if every one was just broken, but since you couldn't find an employee outside of the stations there was no one to ask, so either you're not riding or stuck figuring out the stairs. (Thank god for my husband and his patience) Long story short, they need to get their act together concerning ada/ride accessibility. They need to staff the park better.

Proceeded to ride Zambezi Zinger and Viking Voyager with fast pass. Got into the FP line for Mamba. Proceeded to watch the employee let everyone in the non fast lane in before us. Comes over to tell us we have the wrong color wristband on. I explain this is what we were given and we have already ridden rides with it. They say supervisor will not allow us to ride, we have to get new updated bands. Trek back to the photo booth at the end of Mamba to get new bands, trek back up. This was one of the better rides in the park and a favorite from when I was a kid. Rides we rode and thoughts: 1. Cyclone Sam's- no fast pass but can hold a lot of people. Appreciated the a/c 2. Flying dutchman. Only rode since there was no line and appreciated the breeze 3. Fury of the Nile-was closed at the beginning of the day, opened. Appreciated it had fast pass. Please get the poor employees who work down there some shade. I felt so sorry for them. 4. Le Taxi Tour-says on their website has fast pass. it does not. Can take a while since families will have 10 different cars so every person in the family can "drive" 5. Mamba-see above 6. Patriot-had fast pass. Best ride there 7. Prowler-had fast pass. Pretty rough 8. Spinning dragons- has fast pass but you have to buy it? Band you buy for the day does not include it. LAME 9. Timberwolf - on their website says it is on fast pass but they do not have fast pass. ride closed while we were in line. Sad as this ride was around from when I was a kid and I wanted my kid to ride it. 10. Viking Voyager-had FP, used it, didn't need it. Was different than I remember it as a kid. Didn't get wet. 11. Zambezi Zinger-different than when I was kid. It was a good ride. Rides that were closed: 1. Skyliner- this is a ferris wheel 2. Steel Hawk-swings 3. Zulu-closed, one of my favorite rides when I was younger. 4. Scrambler-why is this on Fast pass? it was closed 5. Sea Dragon Rides we skipped cause we like the thrill rides: 1. Autobahn 2. Bamboozler- I wanted to ride for memories, kidlet said no, too similar to ride where we live 3. Detonator-it is so small. Like why is the tower so tall but the ride only goes up a small height? Ride similar to this where I live is 100 feet taller 4. Fjord Fairlane 5. Mustang Runner-on FP 6. Nordic Chaser Kidlet tried to get an icee but it took over 30 minutes because people kept cutting them in line. Found another icee place and got an icee. Kidlet said person working there was basically giving them to everyone for free. Did not eat at this park. Had up close parking and when I told the person they sent me to the same lot everyone else is parking in. Was sad that a place that held such fond memories from when I was a kid, was so unpleasant to visit as an adult. I don't live any where near here so will not be returning.

This is the first time I've been back in probably four years. We tried out there twilight hours for the pool, which are from 6 PM to 8 PM. It seems to be the least busiest and also it's not blazing sun, and there's more chairs to choose from with umbrellas at that time. I brought my 12 year-old granddaughter, my eight-year-old granddaughter and my six-year-old granddaughter. They had a great time in the pool, but there were several things they were disappointed by. They wanted to go down the lazy river in one of the Floaties and even though there weren't that many people they did not have very many Floaties to use. Also, they had the slide closed down that you go down with on the Floaties. They did have a good amount of lifeguards who are paying attention. I think the one negative it seemed like there were no adults on the premises, it was all teenagers. Now I will say that the teens were doing their job and we're not messing around and very attentive. But I do believe they need an adult to handle unruly people or people trying to sneak in to the pool without paying. There was a line to get in at the 6 PM twilight hours. And everyone was waiting patiently, but there was only one teenage boy at the checkout. There were three adult women in their 20s, who clearly went around the line and snuck in the side door and were bold about it. I do believe that the young man saw them and just didn't want to deal with them. When I got up to the cash register to pay, he was friendly and he asked if I was a resident of Shawnee and I said yes, and he asked to see my drivers license which I have no problem with. I think that's a good thing but it's still irritating that he knew they had snuck in and did nothing about it. I paid by Apple Pay and then I got one lifejacket for the smaller granddaughter and the other granddaughter who is a brought her own. I found a seat easily and watched the kids enjoy the water. The pool seemed clean and fresh. The bathrooms were another matter, the women's bathroom was a mess, and I tried to put my purse in a variety of lockers on the outside that did not work. I finally found one that worked with my lock that I brought so that I could swim. I enjoyed the pool as well and most people behaved themselves. There will always be some kids that they need to blow the whistle on about rules that need to be obeyed for the safety of others. And the last comment I have was, I was sitting in a chair by the lazy river, watching the grandkids go by and there were what appeared to be older teens. There were two girls and one boy. The girl punched the boy and proceeded to call him racial slurs in a negative connotation, (she was the same race). She kept hitting him and he did not hit her back and he just tried to hold her wrist to prevent it. The lifeguard clearly saw what was going on and did not blow the whistle or say "Hey, stop that or you're going to have to leave. " He clearly just turned his back on it and did not want to deal with it. The other girl was embarrassed and saw everyone looking, and she de-escalate the situation. So that was concerning to me because what if it was a larger crowd that got into an altercation around all of the children that were there. I absolutely know that the lifeguards could not handle the situation and they would have to leave their posts which then leaves the swimmers at risk. They need to definitely have an adult or several on the premises, particularly a security guard to make people think twice about their actions.

I showed my ID for Shawnee residence proof and then paid. I got one life jacket for one child. We got there around 11 AM and I believe they open at 10:30 AM. Unfortunately, all of the chairs that had umbrellas were taken by that time. The only reason I give it a four star is because they don't have enough chairs or umbrellas. Everything was clean and in good working order and they had a nice set up for the smaller kids. This pool is primarily for kids 12 and under or maybe even 10 and under. I did have a 12-year-old with me and she prefers the other Shawnee pool which is for older kids, but she still had fun. The lifeguards were excellent. They were always on point watching the small children and never strayed from that. They were actually much better than the larger pool and Shawnee that I went to several weeks ago. The only thing I didn't quite understand was that there was an area roped off for "swimming lessons" but I think it was really parents trying to teach their kids to swim, not any professional instructor. I was bringing my two year-old grandson into that pole and the life guard told me I couldn't do it because it was swimming lessons and it ends at 12:30. So maybe it was because he did not have a floaty on and I was holding him and that's why he didn't allow it because like I said it was just parents teaching their kids. So we just got out and enjoy the rest of the other area. In the future, I would go more around 2 PM or 3 PM. I do believe this pool closes at 6 PM which is about two hours earlier than the main pool. I didn't take photos because there were kids in every area and I don't feel comfortable taking photos of children that are in their bathing suits. So the only photo I've included is one of my grandchildren on a chair taking a break.

For a person like myself who is big on cleanliness the bathroom would be 4/10 as I can only think about how many people got back in the pool after not being able to wash their hands after using the bathroom. Also, seating was limited. There were lots of people just using chairs to store their items while in the water. So for people who had babies that needed to sit and feed them etc that was limited. Having lockers for families that just need to put their items away would help with seating. Some people say in the little grad area with towels Overall very fun place !
