ONF also offers a CSA membership. My review is for the market and greenhouse in Franklin Park, which is open year-round on certain days of the week. ONF raises animals and grows produce, and it also networks with other farms and food businesses. I visited this market and greenhouse on a weekend. Plenty of free parking spaces were available. I saw an assortment of foods such as vegetables, steaks, breads, cheeses, pastas, ice creams, chocolates, etcetera. Many foods were from other businesses such as Alla Famiglia, Cherry Valley Organics, Coyne Family Farm, Lettuce Ladies, Swopes Honey, L&K Bundt Shop, Twin Brook Dairy, and many others. The greenhouse and the barn contained many dozens of plants, including annuals, perennials, and shrubs. I purchased two pies. The cashier promptly rang up my purchase, and she wished me a good day. The store charged me a 2.9% convenience fee for using a credit card.

From December to February, they are open on the third Saturday of the month from 9:30 AM to noon. They are located in the parking lot of St. James Church. This year was my first time attending this farmers market. Vendors had set up tents and were selling vegetables, meats, fishes, eggs, breads, pastas, kombucha, olive oils, sauces, honeys, jams and jellies, prepared foods (e.g., pierogies, quiches, Greek foods, tamales and empanadas, snow-cones), alcohol, flowers, ceramic dishes, etcetera. My husband and I purchased a few items of food from two vendors. We could not do all of our grocery shopping here, but this farmers market was a decent size. The vendors and the other customers were very friendly. My husband and I felt happy to try new products and to support small, local farms and restaurants.

I'm not sure what possessed me to ingest it... maybe it was the strange videos advertising it on the screens where the elote was pumping in and out of the ramen container and causing it to overflow. We like jam and we purchased several different kinds. What they call "jam" is not jam. At best it's jelly and it is so gelatinous it's terrible. It's much like jello but much more stiff. The taste is not all that good. They need to try it themselves and get a new supplier. Some of the "staff" is friendly others so so. The store has the nice country store feel and look. That is very nice. If your mainly going for vegetables, they are good quality but very limited on selection.

Twin Hills Farm is a small family-owned farm that opened in 2015. They raise animals and grow…read moreproduce, and they sell their eggs, meats, and some produce to the public. The family feeds their hens a 100% organic soy-free feed and gives them access to open pastures for 365 days per year. They feed their berkshire pigs a 100% organic soy-free feed and put them on pasture year-round. They feed their belted galloway cattle 100% grass and hay on open pastures. They do not administer any hormones or antibiotics to their animals. So far, I have purchased this farm's chicken eggs, ham, chuck roast, and rump roast. I made the purchases through the website Market Wagon. My husband, dog, and I greatly enjoyed the freshness and flavors of all of these foods. Examples of this farm's other foods are steaks, ribs, ground beef, hotdogs, sausage, kielbasa, green peppers, and banana peppers. I feel happy that this family takes such excellent care of their animals and that their foods are such a high quality, so I will continue to buy their foods in the future.

Turner's Dairy Ok so…read moreyou already grabbed Permanti brothers and Vincent's Pizza What's left? Turner's Dairy products. Pretty much anything made by Turner's dairy. I thought that maybe I was biased or maybe my taste buds where programed from elementary school to enjoy Turner's milk. From the lunch line, to school field trips, if you grew up in Pittsburgh, then you consumed your share of Turner's. I had a few goals on my trip but the most interesting was my desire to be a Turner's connoisseur. You would think that I was sampling fine wine here. I needed to settle this mental debate: Is Turner's really as good as my taste buds recounted, or was i just a kid who was loving chocolate milk at the time. Note that from this point forward I will refer to this point forward I will be spelling it chocolate, but in my mind I will be reading it as the Brad Pitt flick 'Shock-o-lotte." This odd obsession was held tight in my mind as a clandestine mission. A quick product local search revealed brown gold at a convince store within a half mile of my hotel. It was however, the hotel snack shop where i found my first turner's product. A bottle of regular single serve iced tea with its half scripted "T" and its pin stripe advertising beckoning me. Ah the pinstripes. Like the New York Yankees of diary and iced tea products. I had been hoping for cartons but this would have to do. I purchased a few bottles and took them to my room. I offered some to my girlfriend, a 'Pure Leaf' lover who initially did not like the first swig. After no other beverages as an option, she finished the bottle and became instantly addicted consuming a large about of Turner's for the remainder of the trip. The local proprietor turned out to be a gold mine of products. The iced tea was available in Peach, raspberry, lemon, southern style available in your choice of cartons, bottles and small pint sized portions each one proving just as delicious as the prior. From here I moved in the chocolate milk line. I was unable to get my hands on the pin stripped boxes. I located whole milk chocolate milk in a bottle which I shared with my two sons. After a 20 year hiatus, my taste buds once again marveled at the taste. I began to wonder if i had enjoyed the milk more because it was whole milk as opposed to 2%, but I was able to confirm my convictions when i found a bottle of 2% chocolate milk. Let's swing back to the iced teas for a minute. The bottles were only 99 cents and the cartons 50 cents apiece which i found surprising. So drink up. I didn't pay much attention to the price of the chocolate milk, but it's liquid crack... kinda, so get your fix. You may also find it odd and interesting (I prefer the term eccentric when referring to my odd ball behaviors) that I previously emailed Turner's though their Facebook page to ask for unfilled cartons so that I could display them in my Pittsburgh Sports room back home. Perhaps they thought I was a bit off, i was able to secure two cartons, which i poked holes in the bottom letting the liquid drain out. The cartons are now part of my Pittsburgh sports room. This is not so far-fetched when you consider that Andy Worhol (Pittsbrugh Native) made a series of pop art Brillo box displays.

It coated my tongue and stomach with a creamy, mildly spicy goodness. My long-gone maternal grandfather reportedly made his own from scratch and would caramelize each serving via a red hot fire poker. Pap-Pap was medieval and insane like that. I never tried his, but hopefully it tasted like Marburger egg nog. It lived up to the years of hype put forth from Bob Logue, a retired area late-night radio host who was on KDKA 1020 AM for many years. I want to put it in an ice cream maker, if I ever get one. I wanted to try the hot poker thing myself with your egg nog last night but got chased out of my girlfriend's brother's house with a fire extinguisher. Someday, someday...
