Joy has taken the time to get to know the kids' individual strengths and needs. The age range is from 2-5 and it is just one small class. My son is still not potty trained and they are completely fine with that, which you do not find at most preschools. It is affordable, which is amazing considering how many supplies they have and how many projects the kids participate in. They have a blog with tons of pictures and videos of the kids and my son loves to see this as much as I do. The Gan is a Jewish school and the morahs (teachers) educate the children about the history and values of the Jewish people. However, the children do not have to be Jewish to attend. It is an open, easy going place where the goal is to foster confidence, the importance of giving, and appreciating the many blessings they have. I will have my son continue at The Gan until kindergarten!

The environment and approach to the children at the Gan is so much more nurturing than what we experienced in the past and compared to other schools we toured. The design of the school is lovely, warm, and encourages a sense of play and exploration for the children. I also love that there is both an indoor and outdoor playground for the children so that inclement weather does not hinder their playground time. The general attitude and approach towards the children is what I appreciate the most though. The school director, classroom teacher, and teaching assistant (Tzivie, Katie, and Jillian) emphasize compassion, empathy and respect towards the children as well as encouraging them to employ those same traits upon one another. They really take the time to talk with the children and help them find learning experiences through their interactions with each other - both the positive and negative. Not to mention the incredible fun learning activities they do with the children, teaching them about advanced concepts in a way that is easy for the children to grasp and understand. And weekly photos and anecdotes are emailed to the parents, which I always look forward to. I really can't say enough positive things about this school.

This school has beyond exceeded all of our expectations. Each child is viewed as an individual and the teachers actively structure activities to encourage their innate abilities while thoughtfully supporting development in areas they may find more challenging. Their inquiry based approach to learning was new to us, but we truly believe that our daughter is a more curious, confident thinker as a result of her time here. She comes home from school inspired, happy and content, singing songs in Spanish about baby fish and planets and prattling on and on about the relationships she has forged with other students and her wonderful teachers. We are sad to see this experience come to a close for our kindergarten bound daughter, but fortunately we will have the chance to be part of this wonderful community again once our younger son turns 3. We enrolled our child here partially for the language immersion and close-proximity to work but mostly because of the awesome staff. The teachers are visibly excited to teach these young children; they are passionate and dedicated to nurturing young minds. They really focus on getting to know the kids and then base the educational programming on what the kids are interested in and what they need. There is also a very low child-to-staff ratio which will be hard to find elsewhere. I cannot recommend NJA enough!

Meg, the Director, has been so patient with our 4 year old who is very new to a school environment. My husband and I have even found ourselves saying, "What would Meg do right now?" if we're in a tough parenting moment. You can tell she truly cares about her students and respects each of their individual needs. For example, our son has some sensitivity to sensory stimulus. Meg and the teachers have been understanding of his needs and have gone to great lengths to work out ways to make his experience as comfortable as possible. His first week of school went better than we could ever have anticipated due to the outstanding care he received. There were lots of updates throughout the first few days to let us know how he was doing, and if he was struggling with something (or really missing home at certain times of the day) we'd work out a plan for the following day to help him through it. Each week the parents/caregivers receive a recap of how the week went for all the students. In it we read about what the children learned and discussed so we can expand on it at home and get a dialogue going. There are also cute photos attached so you can see the kids in action! The school itself is so lovely. So much thought and care has been put into the kinds of toys, art supplies, books and gym equipment that are provided for children. The backyard is also a child's wonderland! A mud station, trees to climb, chickens to run around with, a sand pit to play in and swings to hang from are there so the kids can be creative, move their bodies and have a blast! My husband and I really wanted to find a school where free play is top priority, inclusivity is embraced and social emotional tools are taught. We have definitely found it at PPP.

You won't see that at MetroKids! Everything is done with the children's best interests in mind. Because Joyful Noise pays higher than average wages and provides a positive work environment, teacher turnover rate is a lot lower than you'll find else in early childhood. Joyful Noise focuses on providing children with positive reinforcements and redirections. Children are taught the social skills they need for life, and are given tools to manage their strong emotions and peer conflicts. I highly recommend looking into ANY of the four Joyful Noise centers!

I am so deeply grateful for this program, it's hard to express fully. It has been incredibly positive for my children in so many ways - social/emotional skills, creativity, independence, learning, joy, bonding with teachers. Too many to name! My kids have loved it here and thrived. For our kids, this has been the best child care in the city. Yes, it is pricey, but it is on par with other high quality child care programs. I love that they provide healthy food, including lunch, so I don't have to pack it every day. No doubt, the first 6 months at the Fremont Center were a rough go (as stated in the disgruntled review posted here). There were some highly unusual circumstances that came up with a couple of the teachers and they had some difficulty finding replacements. This is partly due to the very high standards they have. We have NEVER had a bad teacher at CR. If someone doesn't meet their standards, they do not hesitate to let them go. I appreciate that. My older son still has relationships with some of his previous teachers. High turnover is pretty normal in the industry. CR's turnover rate has reduced dramatically since they instituted higher wages and better benefits for teachers. All of the staff at the Fremont Center are stellar. My son has personal relationships with the administrators (director and preschool specialist) there, in addition to his teachers. I can't imagine him anywhere else and I tell everyone I know what a great place it is. When my older son got to kindergarten he was far ahead of most of his peers in terms of social/emotional skills. All of the CR parents I have talked to say the same thing. When we have playdates at our house, the behavior of non-CR kids is noticeably different (more behavior issues). The thing the sold me the most on CR when I first walked in was the WAY they talk to the kids. It is so respectful, and this in turn teaches the kids so much - to have self worth, to feel respected and respect others, to navigate conflict successfully, etc. That is the thing I still value the most about CR. It has actually taught me how to talk to my kids. I am grateful for this program in so many ways.

Their philosophy of child led learning and socializing is a perfect fit for our child. The director and teachers are always available and are in regular communications with us about how we can best help our kid overcome problems, enhance his learning, and work through some of this big childhood emotions. We know our kid is growing fast, and when we can't be there, we are so glad that Childroots can be. They are not only helping our now 5 year old build skills for life, they are helping us be better parents.
