I was disappointed that the location in Gaithersburg wasnt trained yet to do tragus piercing, but luckily we headed to the Bethesda location where I had an amazing experience. Maria was really knowledgeable, helpful, and Def joked around with us. She made me feel really comfortable and took good care of me. Parking in Bethesda is always a pain, but i was able to get parking in the garage across the street, which was convenient. I did have to pay, which I did using parkmobile. When we walked in, we were greeted and had to fill out some stuff, which was no biggie. She helped me pick out the perfect earring , which I still love. She gave good after care instructions, and I will be going back for the 30 day check in. My first time using Rowan was for my 9th piercing. I highly recommend this location for needle piercings because of the jewelry selection and the expertise of the Nurses. Thanks to Nurse JoJo! Had a great experience at Rowan! I made an appointment, walked in, and was immediately escorted to the jewelry selection. I was between two options and my piercer was so patient. Once I made my selection we walked to a piercing room and got started. My piercer, Amber, was incredible! She showed me options for placements, gave me the pros and cons of each placement, and remained patient as I went back and forth between the options. The piercing was a little spicy, but not intolerable. I can definitely see myself coming back for more. I think the price for the service is very reasonable, but the jewelry price is on the more expensive side. I thought about getting multiple piercings, but chose to just get one based on the price of the jewelry alone. I could see myself coming back in the future because the experience was so enjoyable. Definitely better than any experience I have had in a tattoo shop! They also give you quality aftercare instructions and spray. read more

We had a great experience for one of my kiddos. Love that you can choose how you want your piercing (device or needle) and that it's done by nurses! They had a good selection of earrings, great sterilization process, and kind staff. There was an adorable little girl ahead of us that cried when her ears were pierced but then was so proud and talking to everyone in the store about how it doesn't hurt. There is basically no waiting area though, and while having an open area to do the piercings can be beneficial for some kiddos, it made one of my kiddos actually more scared the longer she waited and watched. We had appointments but because they took some walk-ins the longer wait made my one kiddo decide against it. We will still go back, but just a word of warning to definitely not get there early, especially on a high traffic day. read more

1.17.25 I was looking for a shop to get my cartilage pierced and came across this shop which had high reviews on Google and the piercings are done by licensed nurses. I scheduled my appointment online. I had to wait about five minutes from my scheduled appointment time and then one of the two nurses, Myrna, came to the front and greeted me after helping a customer. She helped me decide on earrings then brought me to the back. I liked that she sanitized the chair and counter. She changed her gloves frequently, which I appreciated since I am a germaphobe. She asked where I wanted to get my ears pierced, then used a pen to mark the placement. She made me feel very comfortable by letting me know when she was about to pierce and telling me to breathe in and out. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would thankfully. When we were done, she gave me a pamphlet and went over the post-care instructions. Myrna was knowledgeable, professional, and very personable. She was very easy to talk to and made my experience enjoyable. The total for my three piercings and earrings cost $527. A bit expensive to me however, the jewelry is high quality, they have good sanitation standards, and I like that they are licensed nurses. I highly recommend this shop and Myrna! P.S. The Elm Street parking garage is across the street and the first two hours are free. Be sure to note your parking space number and go to the pay station prior to walking out of the garage. If you don't, you could end up getting a citation. I did not know this and hope I do not receive a surprise in the mail. read more

The reception went great. The person who helped me to view the products and make a selection was patient and very helpful. She offered to change my earrings for me which was much appreciated. The selection was somewhat limited for the type of earrings I was looking for. There are some styles that are only available in the shop and not online. I won't be returning. The piercer had to redo my daughter's piercing and made an inappropriate comment about my older daughter's clothing before she bailed on the rest of her appointment. The pricing is also shocking. Charging $98 for an earring advertised in store as 14k gold when it's actually on a titanium post feels misleading at best. On top of that, customers are prompted to tip 15-20% on top of the price of jewelry as opposed to for thier actual job of piercing. I left $50 and she didn't say thank you and seemed disappointed. I took my 7 month old daughter here to get her ears pierced. We couldn't have had a better experience. The nurse was so friendly and experienced and helped both me and my daughter feel at ease. My daughter cried of course but she quickly recovered and started playing happily again. The actual piercing is clean, the hole is tiny, and there is adequate space for the ear lobe to breathe. I don't see any swelling or redness and my daughter hasnt even noticed anything is on her ears. I was so worried about this experience but Rowan gave me nothing to worry about. read more

We took my niece, who is 6 to get her ears pierced. What a great experience! They had a variety of earrings for the newly pierced. The staff took the time to reassure her and make sure it was what she wanted. They were patient and caring. I got my second ear piercings done at this location and was initially very satisfied with the experience. The nurse who did the piercing was incredibly kind, the space was noticeably clean compared to other piercing shops I've visited, and the jewelry selection was great. However, a few weeks later, one of the earrings became embedded in my ear. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, possibly an error on my part, but I called the shop to ask if they could help before going to urgent care. They told me to come in the same day, which I appreciated. When I arrived, one of the nurses who assisted with removing the embedded earring was extremely rude and condescending. I didn't catch her name, but she was a white woman with black hair. Despite the situation being painful and relatively common with new piercings, she treated me as if I were an inconvenience--placing blame on me, raising her voice, and showing little empathy. I was genuinely shocked, not just as a paying customer, but because her behavior was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. Although they were able to resolve the problem, that one interaction has left a bad impression. Due to the lack of compassion during a painful experience, I don't plan to return. read more
