Indeed it wasn't, and the name of this stadium was born. Along with baby Jesus. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - well it's the home team of my sister-in-law, so a lot of her family are huge fans. For this reason, I've been to this stadium as recently as about 8 months ago when I was hanging out with the lovely family. I love the walk up to this stadium... in a tight little Soton neighborhood... past all the Chip Shops. And then you go through the turnstiles, and bam. It's one of my fave stadiums to visit. I've only been maybe 3 or 4 times, and 2011 was the very first time. They had a home game on the same day as one of my concerts, so I was able to have 2 awesome experiences in one day in Southampton. I've been to virtually every significant stadium in the UK & US, due to a lifelong obsession with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born and raised in England, I followed Oxford United (my hometown team) to many stadiums all over the country at away games, and later followed Liverpool (my fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from personal experience at these stadiums from multiple visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited these stadiums then, also. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in the UK for 3 months, I visited all of the stadiums as I travelled around the country. I have pictures of many of them which I will post in future. Also, when I'm back in the UK I plan to take more pictures, and add more stadiums too! So watch this space! *** return to regular review *** So it's one of the better stadiums in the UK. It's virtually brand new and spiffy and clean and has a great atmosphere for one of the great provincial teams of the UK down on the south coast. It's got some nice chippies near it. It can hold 32k people and is the largest stadium in the South of England outside London. It is a bowl with a roof which keeps the rain away and keeps the noise inside, so it really has everything going for it.

Generally hosts all the fireworks for events and celebrations for Southampton and the parties for any major new cruise ships leaving or entering Southampton waters, its an ideal place to take photos of the large cruise ships coming in! There are some great views of the new super huge cruise ships, as they come all the way past into the Mayflower Terminal. Also host the Southampton Boat Show in September. Easily accessible from West Quay Road along the front in Southampton, first exit after Town Quay heading towards Millbrook before you get to De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel.

For adults, there's lots of reasonably priced car parking which you can extend if you're there longer than you expected (happens to us a lot!) and pay for with your debit card which is very handy. The succession of boats and container ships passing by never ceases to fascinate both me and my son, but unfortunately the ice cream kiosk next to the park also fascinates him and any refusal to buy one usually results in complete meltdown - for this reason, I can only bring myself to give this place 4 stars, but it really is excellent and well worth a visit.

Other World Escapes

Other World Escape is a new escape room that has just opened up in Southampton (July 2017)…read more The owner was very welcoming and made the whole experience at the escape room a pleasurable one. At present there is just one room to play the Mayan Temple with future ones opening soon. SPOILER ALERT The room gives you a fully immersive experience with just 60 minutes to crack the codes / puzzles to win. The story is about a mystery within the Mayan temple, the Gods and the Elixir of life which has to be found before the Syndicate finds you. As soon as we stepped through the doors to the room me and my husband were hit immediately by the smell of chocolate as this was one of the items being exported. There are many clues to be read, puzzles to crack, codes to be unlocked and many padlocks to unlock giving this room a vast range of challenges and fun to be had. The diary that is found later in the room helps with solving the codes to unlock some of the padlocks and this is basically your lifeline. In the second and final room there was once again many codes and locks to crack open but this time there were several physical skill set puzzles to be had which made us feel we were in The Crystal Maze. I won't give too much away but they are all so unique and I have never seen anything else like it used in any other escape rooms I have done. Near the end if you are doing well one of your team has to sacrifice themselves to the gods who will you sacrifice to escape the temple and win the game? A very unique escape room with smells, temperature change and so many various challenges to crack. Highly recommend to anyone.
