I went there often as a child and really enjoyed the excitement of the park, great place to bring kids and the whole family. The hungry kitten says: Visit Blackgang while you can, large parts of it have been lost to the cliffs due to erosion over time, is very exciting to look over the cliffs and see remains of old exhibits.

Awful. What sort of a city seeks to destroy any vestiges of…read morecommunity by putting of the most monstrous retail parks smack in the middle of its historic centre? Welcome to Southampton, a city that worships the car, ignores any architectural continuity and has a by-law that fat men must wear hooped earings and must not wear shirts once the thermometer hits 80f. It is also the city that has come up with The Quays; a building of outwardly interesting architectural merit, but messes it up but putting it between medieval battlements and a pyramid-shaped hotel. Las Vegas for pikies. Anyway, on with the review. When you get inside, you realise that they have an impressive diving pool, with a clever movable floor, a nice lanes pool covered by a beautiful wooden roof. But there's no natural light. It's stuffy. It echos off every surface. Awful. Did I mention they also play techno in the baby pool? Loud techno. I couldn't hear my 9 mnth old's sweet gurgles for the Utah Saints. Anyway, the baby pool. We went early on a Sunday. One the locals told me it was quiet. I reckon it was 40 metres square and had about 40 parents in it. And 40 babies. I think I was the only man in that pool who didn't have a tattoo. I swear some of the toddlers even had them. Finally, what amuses me about this is the concept. For example, I knew there was a pool in the centre of Southampon, so I called directory enquiries and asked for pools in Southampon. Nothing. Swimming baths? Nothing. Health clubs? sorry no. However if I'd have phoned and asked for 'The Quays 'Eddie Read' Swimming & Diving Complex ' I might have got their number. You can see the council meeting now. Let's put up striking building with bad ventilation and no natural light and no room inside. Let's charge £4.30 for a half hour swim, more than even central london prices. However, we'll brand it cleverly. That'll get the punters in. That'll create the wow factor our city so desparately needs. To it's credit the changing was clean and fresh and the lockers were free. But overall a real pity.

If you return within one week of purchasing your ticket, you can come back for only 1 pound! We were lucky enough to be here during their Halloween festivities, which they did an amazing job of decorating the grounds and putting on a fun trail for the kids that included arts and crafts! Our 4 year old loved this! Even on non-holidays, they have a fun sheet for your child to fill out as they walk around and bring back for a surprise. You are so up close and personal to the animals here. I have never been that close to a lion before! The white lions are stunning. We love that all of the animals have names and signs with their pictures and facts about them. By the time you leave there you feel as if you know the animals on a personal level! All of the animals seem to be well taken care of, happy, and content. We were able to watch the lions and the tigers being fed and listened to the talks. Super informative, and so awesome watching the big cats search for their food. The sanctuary is well laid out with plenty of paths to take around the space. The gift shop has tons of goodies, the vegan cafe was good, decent price, clean, and there's a space for kids to play and read. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Next time we come to the Isle of Wight, we will definitely be returning!

MARRIOT NO LONGER OWN THIS HOTEL…read more This hotel is a disaster. Checked in no problem. Walked to my room this was the trail of destruction with breakfast tray still in the corridor at 7.30pm. Went to get dinner. Told they had just seated a table of 14 and there would be a very long wait could i order at the bar. Get to the bar to be told starters pizza pasta or salads only. Order chick wings which came with crudites but dirty celery. Report going into environmental health on Monday. Breakfast not available till 8 am. Bacon cold. Hash browns cold everything else barely warm. Again report going into food safety agency on Monday. Avoid the food on site. Decor dated and worn out carpets. In short. A nasty place to stay. Report submitted to Environmental Health as follows The photos taken of the problems I encountered can be downloaded on the following we transfer link https://we.tl/t-bBGYFpvYxt 1 Is a health and safety issue for guests of the hotel 2 Food Safety issues for Guests of the hotel 2 instances Issue 1 - Glasses left in a corridor I checked into the hotel early evening at about 7.30 pm no problem checking in - however when I got to the corridor my room 443 was on - a series of Bar glasses were left in the corridor which fallen on would cause a significant safety risk to the person falling on them - it appeared that they had been there most of the day since housekeeping had been round ? Also left on the corridor was a breakfast tray which has jam marmalade etc. on it which also led me to believe the detritus had been on the corridor for some time Risk - Older guests who could not see the glasses due to poor eye sight could have slipped tripped and fell and had severe lacerations Issue 2 - Evening meal served with dirt on it I went past the bar glasses and dirty dishes and went to the restaurant to be told that they had "just seated 14 guests" and there would be significant delay in serving food I would be best to go to the bar and order there - I did to be told only starters, pizza and pasta available. I order chicken wings with crudités and a mixed meat pizza. The chicken wings arrived but the crudités still had dirt on the celery see photo attached. Risk unwashed / uncleaned salad could infect someone with bad food poisoning Issue 3 - Cold / not well reheated food - meat items breakfast I had paid for breakfast the night before and went down to eat - waited 30 mins for the restaurant to open - 730 am - 8 am. Then helped myself to the breakfast buffet - the bacon served was cold the bacon was folded over the thin bit of the rasher underneath as if it had come out of the fridge and not been warmed through but left under the warming lights , the hash brown potatoes cold, the sausages luke warm, the beans, eggs, mushrooms also luke warm - I think this is contrary to food safety in the UK as all meat should reheated to a specific temperature 75 degrees Celsius? before served? Risk - under heated food could also lead to food poisoning from bacteria.

The amusement arcade is not a pleasant place, not an whole…read moredays fun in one like the advert says. The majority of the arcade machines go wrong when you put your money in them, the coins go missing or get stuck. Sometimes when you win eg £10.00, it might pay you 9 x £1 coins and 1 x 10p piece (so you are out of pocket) I can only imagine some of the staff who fill the machines mis-fill them. When the machines go wrong it is not easy to get help or assistance being the majority of staff spend most of the time standing outside the pier smoking. There is only 1 change desk open, if they are counting up, they close the desk and you have to go back when they have finished counting. The same desk also takes bookings for the crazy golf so you have to wait quite a while to be seen, so if the machine you are playing as gone wrong you have a long wait for assistance. When you finally see someone they say they will send someone along to fix the machine but you end up waiting ages, no apologies when they finally arrive. (Customer service skills are poor and too be honest always have been) Many of the machines reels are out of line so when you win they don't always payout and if you inform the staff they say the reels are out of synch, so you don't get your wiinnings or all the money you have put in them (not a fair system), only 1 winner them! The Monopoly machines top centre game reels are totally out of synch, so when you get the game you have no idea how much you are winning. The Double Decker party game machine very top centre game reels go wrong so the party ends early. The 2p & 10p pushers have hardly any prizes on them, and I have seen employees move items back that are close to the edge so players have to start from scratch which costs them more money (not fair at all). Many of the machines are dirty. I am not too sure if they ever clean them. Unlike some seaside arcades, the pier charges customers £1.75 to withdraw cash, even though you are spending the money in their business. I am surprised the owners let the staff get away with it, from what I see when on the pier it's the owners son doing the majority of the work. Whilst the staff are standing outside smoking they could be repairing machines or assisting customers and filling up empty change machines which are mostly empty on a daily basis. A lesson for the future, remember it's the customers who are are paying your wages, employees seem to forget that.
