If you love fashion, and shoes in particular, then you need to make a pilgrimage to the Kurt Geiger…read morestore in the Princes Square shopping centre. Yes, there is a Kurt Geiger concession in Fraser's across the road - but it's not quite as good as having a dedicated shop, is it? And this isn't just any shop, either. It's gorgeous! The shoes obviously take centre stage (though it's better if you don't bother to look too closely at the prices...) It's great to have a taste of real high-fashion footwear on the high street. Plus, if, like me, you do have a bit of difficulty justifying their prices - make a trip here during sale periods when the prices are far more attractive on even their most expensive shoes.

Hello my name is Lisa and I am a footwear snob. This is why I buy my shoes from Kurt Gieger. There…read moreis nothing I hate more than poor quality shoes and I think there is a fine line between quirkily fashionable and just plain tacky. For me Kurt Gieger comes under the quirkily fashionable bracket and the likes of Dune can sometimes be dangerously close to being tacky (yet still expensive!). In the line of work I'm in I know how to spot a good shoe and Kurt Gieger ticks all the boxes for me, especially with their own KG brand. The heels tend to be solid and are often wooden stacked, rather than plastic, making them much more durable. They also tend to be leather on the inside and out and leather is more comfortable and absorbs sweat (ewwwww) better than other materials meaning your shoes shouldn't end up smelly (double ewwwwww). However what I like best about KG shoes is that they normally have a padded insole which makes even the highest of high heels feel so much comfier and more wearable. The Princes Square Kurt Gieger store is usually quite quiet and this can make you feel a little bit under the spotlight as the staff ask you if you are ok at least 10 times. In saying that though, if you do need any help it means you get their undivided attention!

Step back.... and boogie. OK, after struggling to get the little one some proper winter boots for a while now (hey Clarks! yeah, you heard!) the mother unit (mine that is) dragged the other mother unit (that's the wife that is) the small child (one she found in the street.... i jest) and me (a body double... i was in the pub) into this joint. Well good peepholes of Yelpland, may you cover the moon in bananas, lather a goat in shepherds pie and call me Aunty Mayble...kids shoes are fricken expensive! OK, so beyond the 'ooh, what was the noise? Ah, thats the sound of my new flat screen tv not being bought, delivered and watched' eye watering prices, this is actually a fine kiddie shoe merchant. In fact, over all this place is quite high on the 'well to do' scale, illustrated by the names of some of the other kids in the store... 'Tilly? Sadly, my feet are too small to fit any of the shoes here and no matter how many shoe inserts I buy they still don't fit. Most shoes are around £60+ and they also do bags and belts which are quite pricey too. I did manage to find a beautiful waist belt for only £12 once though. The shop is very small and can get very busy which then becomes quite chaotic as there are shoe sizes flying in every direction from eager shoe fanatics. There's also a 50-50 split between the male and female shoes which is nice. I always go in for a browse, especially when it comes to sale time in the hope that I can find something that fits. Please Dune, start making smaller sizes! Although, maybe it's a good thing for my purse that I can't fit anything here.

Anyway, the staff were on me straight away, I seem to sense a hint of sales target. The poor souls, they were ever so helpful, and ran back and forth to get me sizes and colours. I felt so guilty, and definitely a little obliged to buy buy buy, which I didn't particularly want to do necessarily. Long story short, I left with a pair of boots that were on the sale for £70! Oh my god, I have to say these are probably some of my more recent and mose expensive purchases on footwear, excluding my ski boots. I am just glad they were boots, and not a strappy sandal, at least I feel as though I got more for my money.
