You could spend 10 minutes or an hour here enjoying this historical site. They have a lot of souvenirs to purchase and they'll stamp your Route 66 passport too. Note: you must use stairs to visit the top (in)side of the barn. There's also air conditioned rest rooms.

The lower level has a charming, rural museum feel with exhibits and memorabilia that share some of the history of the barn and the area. Then head upstairs--the upper level is completely different. It opens into a huge entertainment space beneath an absolutely stunning wooden dome. The construction of the roof is incredible, with the beams creating this beautiful pattern overhead. It was easily my favorite part of the visit and a fantastic place for photography. This isn't a stop where you just snap a picture from the road and leave. Give yourself some time to explore both levels and appreciate the architecture. Definitely worth adding to a Route 66 road trip through Oklahoma!

Our captain Marcus had a great sense of humor and had historical knowledge about Bricktown that we never would have known. I definitely recommend finding a seat under the tarp, it was comfortable there. The sun was beating down pretty hard and I think I would have gotten a sunburn if I hadn't of been under the shaded seats. The whole process from getting the tickets to getting off the boat was very smooth and easy. We paid $15 for a 45 min. Boat ride. Worth every penny! You can also bring your drinks aboard, which is nice.

Our driver, David, was awesome we were laughing the entire time. It's a quick 30-45 minute water cruise on a man‑made canal that's only about 3-4 feet deep, so you definitely have to go in with the right mindset and make the best of it. Our taxi wasn't too crowded, and since we had time to kill, it ended up being a perfect, easy outing. Trying to avoid a crowded ride is definitely recommended. The ride doesn't stop, not that seen! You do get a great idea of all the places available for a Bar visit... or food! We parked at Bass Pro

Centennial Land Run Monument -- An Impressive Piece of Oklahoma History…read more Even with Oklahoma temperatures flirting with all-time highs, I wasn't going to let the heat stop me from visiting the Centennial Land Run Monument! And I'm glad I didn't. This is a fantastic tribute to Oklahoma and the historic Land Run of 1889. The sheer size and detail of the bronze sculptures are impressive. Horses, wagons, riders and families are captured in motion, giving you a real sense of the excitement and chaos that must have surrounded that day. The monument features 45 larger-than-life bronze figures created by Oklahoma artist Paul Moore, and seeing them up close gives you a much better appreciation for the scale and craftsmanship involved. (Visit Oklahoma City) There was one advantage to visiting during the brutal Oklahoma heat -- hardly anyone else was there! I practically had the monument to myself and was able to walk around, take my time and get some really great photos without crowds. It's outdoors, open year-round and completely free, making this an easy stop if you're visiting Bricktown or exploring Oklahoma City. (Visit Oklahoma City) A beautiful piece of artwork, an interesting piece of Oklahoma history, and absolutely worth seeing. Five stars from me!

The whole installation commemorates the Land Run of 1889, when settlers surged into the Unassigned Lands to stake homesteads in what would become Oklahoma Territory. The scale of the installation here is enormous, with dozens of figures charging forward. Horses stretched mid-stride, wagons tilting, every dace carved with urgency. One has clearly fallen in their haste. It really does tell the tale. We had the place mostly to ourselves which made it easy to slow and take in the detail. The only interruption was a family who decided the clearly posted "no climbing" sign was more of a suggestion than a rule and that's why we can't have nice things. Grrr! But even that didn't take away from the artistry. Paul Moore spent more than twenty years bringing this to life and the result is one of the largest bronze sculpture installations in the world, honoring the settlers who raced out on April 22, 1889.
