Miss Sandy told my daughter she wouldn't be good at something like that and compared her to another girl in the class that she felt was great for this team . My daughter was a micro preemie at birth and has some issues with her motor skills . Lizabeth, the manager, got back to us with a quote within a few days via email and got us on the schedule quickly. Kristen was our instructor and she was awesome! She was super nice and personable and definitely made it easy for us as beginners with no rhythm. Lol We pretty much told her that neither of us dance and we wanted to learn some basics so we don't look like complete idiots on our wedding day! We started our first lesson with hand and arm positions and the basic box steps (5, 6, 7, 8...*quick, quick, slow*) and we built upon that with side steps, turning, "the cuddle" move and some other moves in the following 3 sessions. She watched each of us closely and told us what we were doing wrong or right and took turns with each of us til we got the feel for it. Each session was roughly 45 minutes long and she wrote down notes of what we covered after each session so that we all knew where we left off during the next visit. During our last session, Kristen had us try all of the moves we learned to go along with the beat of the music and it was tough! We sure had a lot of fun though! Thank you, Kristen! On our wedding day, we dance pretty well and noone fell, so that's a win in my book! I even got my own pair of pointe shoes. I loved to dance. I did lyrical, ballet, tap, and jazz. But, when I did get older I had some bad experiences with getting yelled at. Yea, I wasn't Misty Copeland, but I also wasn't a someone with no strength and flexibility. I was told these were corrections and I wasn't to cry over them because I was getting help. I had some days where I'd be corrected with simple words, and not be humiliated in front of the class. One time my teacher said she didn't give a shit about the dance she was choreographing and said she was looking at me. Mind you I was on a week long vacation in Washington DC. I cried in the dressing room while my friends comforted me. My little sister also went to this dance studio and experienced just about everything I had. The good and the bad. I don't want to make this too long, so I'll just say a few more things. I quit in 2021 and my sister quit in 2022. I feel so much more anxiety free now and so does my sister. every time I had to go I just got a heap of anxiety in my stomach. Needless to say, the studio is really nice. if you want to sign up, I'm sure you won't regret and you'll make a lot of good friends. I just wanted to share my part.

Starting out I was confused with the flow of things but overtime I learned the ropes. My main gripe with ATB is that they're very much competition orientated. I really just want my girls to enjoy dance and gymnastics recreationally. I also do not want my young girls dressing in the dance recital outfits and wearing the unnecessary make up. Miss Mo and Miss Rachel have been great instructors who provide a positive and fun learning environment.
