This applies ONLY to the new owner(s) (September 2018-on)--would have highly recommended this facility (where I have been a long term renter) previously. Absolutely NOT impressed with the way the new owner(s) is choosing to conduct business. Received an introduction letter in the mail today (11/26) that stated the business had changed hands and that, "the rental agreement/lease you signed will remain in effect. This change in ownership will not affect any of the terms." It also reiterated month's notice required to move out. Fair enough. Enclosed in the same envelope, I find another page titled, "Notice of Scheduled Rate Change" that detailed 44% rate hike for my unit that is effective as of January 1, 2019. Last time I checked, increasing the monthly fee is definitely a change to the terms that I signed with the previous owners. Also, per the new owner(s) reminder about the move-out requirements, I have only FOUR DAYS now to give him notice should I decide to take my business elsewhere (by December 1), or I will be stuck paying the increased rate. I called just to confirm that I hadn't read something incorrectly. Nope, that is exactly how it is. Apparently those notices, "went out later than planned," and it, "is what it is" -- very professional. While I understand the need to increase prices to account for added convenience features, there's a way to implement those changes without forcing your long term customers out. Putting out a notice and forcing people to respond in FOUR DAYS or be subject to a 44% increase? Not sure if this is pure inexperience or what, but that's a great way to clear out half your units. It would be so much easier to stay, but we'll likely take our business elsewhere. read more
