Rouse's need to stop. Similar size shrimp are at the Westwego wharf for $5.50 per lb. not $21.99.

I frequently shop at most of these stores and I can honestly say that some of them are consistently unwelcoming. Most departments don't speak but they're always freshly stocked. The overall customer service here is unpredictable and everyone is immersed with work that they don't stop to ask if they can help, even after being in their dept. for a while....produce and bakery. I came here for the whole Strawberry Grouper priced @ $7.99 per lb., not bad but the fillet cut was $21.99 per lb. and not worth it to me. I can fillet my own fish. So I opted for the large Black Tip Shark fillet @ $4.99 per lb. - first time trying. The liquor department folks are happier and for good reason I suppose lol but it's like each store has its own personality based on its location; this location is just dismal to me but always stocked and neat. Oh and Krispy Kreme donuts are here! That's where the 3rd star come in. The buggy boys at the Algiers' store is friendly as well as most cashiers but again, floor staff are not helpful. The Stumpf, CBD and Airline stores are pretty hip and vibrant and has more people engagement skills than this one. The CBD Rouses is by far the absolute best and kind of reminds me of Whole Foods but the traffic...ugh!

Great grocery store. The bakery and meat/seafood market are absolutely amazing. Lots of local seafood options.

I usually love this store ! Almost always a one stop shop until this most recent time . I called and asked them to hold a gentilly berry cake for my mothers birthday and she loved the one from the recently closed down parrot Pete's , but upon cutting into the cake we were very disappointed. As you can see they had no berries in the inside except 4 blueberries . I wouldn't have paid 40$ for this cake if i knew that. I could've made a plain white cake by myself .

I love this store because there aren't a lot of places to get an assorted choice of cheeses or beer on the Westbank and this Rouse's has a wide selection of both. First of all, the cheese case is a thing of beauty. This ain't your mama's cheese case! They have so many different assorted and exotic types of cheeses. When you go here you better be prepared to take your time and come with some willpower, because whenever I go, it's all I can do to keep from filling my basket with different assortments of brie, gouda and munster. Seriously. If you can't get to a proper cheese shop, the Rouse's cheese case will hold you. Also, their beer selection is awesome. They have big bottles of Rogue, Magic Hat #9 and Runination ale. If you are in the mood to try something really different, they have something called "Vampire Blood". I've never tried it. It's a pale ale. I don't know. Rouse's also makes sushi rolls in store, which really aren't that bad. They are made fresh daily, and while they aren't as good at something you would get at a legitimate sushi restaurant, it gets the job done if you want to pick something up for a quick lunch.

This is my favorite grocery store on the westbank. I only wish they had one in Marrero. The main thing I come here for is beer. Keg beer to be exact. Many people don't know this but they can order you almost any kind of keg beer available. The only stipulation is if it is available on tap. So if you like Sessions beer and have had it at a bar, but it was in bottle only, well Rouses wont be able to get it either. If you had a Southern Pecan on tap at the Rusty Nail, then yes, Rouses can get it. I'll outline the most successful ordering procedure for keg beer. I wouldn't suggest calling. Best is in person. Walk to the customer service counter, also the liquor section. Tell them you want to order a keg. They can show you a list of available beers along with prices and the keg size. They can also rent you a tap if you don't have one. If your using a kegerator like I have, that isn't needed. If you haven't ordered from them before, you will have to place a refundable $50 deposit for the keg shell. The beer prices vary. For example , A 1/6 size keg (5.5 gallons) of Blue Moon is $75. A 1/2 keg (15.5 gallons) is $130. It will take roughly about 4 days to come in. When it does, they usually call you to let you know. If they haven't, you will have to call and double check. A second way to order, but only works if you know for sure what beer and your not worried about the price because you already know is to email the store director or liquor manager for this store (#38) I believe the names are Jeffery or Seth. If you try and do a bunch of back and forth emails though, it does take them some time to reply, so I advice going in person till you get the hang of it. I'm sure other Rouses offer this service, but this is my store of choice.

Overpriced poor quality produce. Selection of most products is hit or miss. Never enough cashiers.

I've used it for grocery pick up a few times. Convenient. So why 5 stars? 2 things about this location. In the Aftermath of Hurricane IDA, they were open FAST, within 5 days and had gas. This next observation might only be for this location but it stopped me in my tracks. The first time I went, we had to park in the lot next door and walk in. No problem (the lot was reserved for employee use only). As we were leaving our cart halted short of our destination, so we asked the security guard if we could grab an unlocked cart (our issue was remedied). It's what I saw that was the real eye opener, I witnessed a Walmart employee come bring the young man a plate of food. Whoa. That was cool. Then the second time I went, there were soooooo many employees rushing to stock the shelves and it happened again. Over the intercom this time. "Attention all visiting associates, there are refreshments in the break room " Walmart did you actually bring in people to help get us groceries on the shelves? Did your staff have the courtesy to take care of their staff and those supporting them? Wow! Double wow! The downside to these locations is that you have to watch your expiration dates like a hawk. There is alot of expired food on the shelves at these stores. Im not sure if they are the runoff for the larger locations. Just keep an eye out for the no goods when you are shopping at a smaller chain.

The experience of shopping in person is miserable, due to long lines, slow service, and a minimal number of self checkouts. Avoiding this with pickup orders isn't much better. I have waited multiple times for 40+ minutes with no service, and no answers to repeated calls to the store, to the point that I leave and cancel my order. I was recently denied when trying to return an item I ordered online so I had to mail it in instead. The Tchoup Walmart is an unfair embarrassment to the community it should ostensibly serve.

During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
