For the last year, I have been searching for the right company to help me with my family's situation. We had real estate properties that went underwater and we let them go through foreclosure. After the foreclosure we began to get collection notices and court documents. We thought it was fake because these debts would disappear with the foreclosure and Roundleaf showed us that this was actually called "recourse debt" and in some instances they would be able to sue you and collect on the debt. I met with Richard and signed up for help in September 2016. I had all the debts of a failed business fall onto me and my credit was plummeting. My credit had always been in the mid 700's prior to the disastrous business venture, but was down in the mid 500's. I wasn't concerned as much with the credit score as I was with getting settlements for the debts. Richard set up a plan to reach settlements with each of 5 creditors: A business loan, a personal line of credit and 2 credit cards totaling $29,682. At this point, I had no income and was living off savings and my parents. The nice thing is, during the settlement period while Richard negotiated with creditors, I stopped paying them, so I was off the depressing treadmill of pouring money into a bottomless pits of debt. One by one, Roundleaf reached settlements with the creditors; overall I paid 40% of the original debt, giving me a savings of $16,788. They got the creditors off my back and bought me time to develop some income. I haven't re-checked my credit score yet, but now I am debt-free and have a tutorial on how to improve the credit score. As other's have mentioned on Yelp, the process can be frustrating and annoying; There have been some new-hires at Roundleaf that need some polish, and they have a new semi-automated system for tracking accounts that is in beta and still has kinks. If this was a restaurant I might have given them 3-4 stars. However, if you are in a position of needing Roundleaf's services, you are already frustrated and probably scared and the MAIN thing you need to know is if this is a trustworthy company that will do what it says it will do....so that is why I gave them 5 stars!! I have discussed all the "annoyances" with Richard and am willing to put them aside for the long-term prize of being debt-free! (Debt Consolidation) He has all skills needed for negotiation. I can detail them all out but all I'm going to say is that if you want someone to talk for you, he could do it. He keeps his professionalism and he is nice, However I did notice frustration over time and defensive behavior. I don't think he likes interruptions on top of someone who ends up knowing how debts work and decides to only work on one side of the marriage debt. Willing to get to know you a little bit to help you, although at a business standpoint, companies want to know your "long term goals" to try and get you to come back later on. My estimate was lower then I thought possible, which is great to hear, but as mentioned it is only estimation. he has made it before any communication with the companies were done, so you may end up paying more then expected or if they decide to jack the price up for their services. Overall, If you want the help with your finances they are a good candidate and given the chance they will stand by your side. IF your not easily offended by someone who will try to hide being defensive, may become a bit pushy even when stated they aren't and know exactly how much you will be forking out. read more

I just completed the program at Roundleaf 6 months ahead of the time projected to settle my remaining balances! I had three outstanding balances and saved over 75%. If I had even attempted to try and pay in full it would've taken a lot longer. From the time I signed up, to completion, I think it was about a year and a half. Usually, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Not in this case. On 4/28/2011, we agreed to have RoundLeaf negotiate with the lender on our behalf. We paid a deposit of $2133.86. On 6/28/2011, we received a settlement offer from our lender GMAC. GMAC was willing to settle for $13,000 (we owed GMAC $105,741.62). Total paid = $2133.86 (initial deposit) + $13,000 (GMAC's settlement offer) + $7495.04 (settlement completion fee from RoundLeaf) = $22,628.90. We paid 22.6k to settle 105.7 k. You can do the math to see how much we save. When we first heard of the settlement offer, we were stunned and in disbelieve. We called GMAC several times to confirm we did indeed have an offer (which they did confirm). Overall experience, Richard from RoundLeaf has been very professional. I was in deep trouble with a HELOC that was left over from a foreclosure. The loan was no longer secured against the property and they were in thier rights to sue, garnish my wages..ect.
