They showed us around their ranch, and introduced us to their Alpacas, which are the cutest animals. It is a very personal visit, because all the Alpacas have names and different personalities. We even got to see a newborn (3 hours old). I very much enjoyed our visit and learning about the Alpacas. There is a store on the ranch, and there was an Alpaca rug I really wish I would have bought. The owners could name each Alpaca that contributed to the sections of the rug. I did buy some socks that I am wearing right now. I LOVE these socks. They are so soft and warm. Go visit, and definitely stop in at their store.

They ask that you give them an approximate arrival time and call about 10 minutes before you arrive. You also need to follow the directions the host gives you to get to their place. We were heading southeast on Hwy 60. Jomax Road didn't show up on gps, but that's the road you should turn on going west and on to N 191 Rd and on to their property. Proprietor Sandi opened the gate when we arrived and told us where to park. After we got set up, Sandi, and her husband Chuck, showed us around the ranch, introduced us to their alpacas, which all have names (must have been more than 40). We were fortunate to see a newborn alpaca. It was only about an hour and a half old and could already walk. It knew instinctively that it should be getting some milk from its mom. Sandi and Chuck shared interesting information about alpacas and their ranch operation and took us in to their store. Their items include rugs, clothing items, and more. We bought some alpaca socks for the whole family. Alpaca wool is warmer than sheep's wool. It's hypoallergenic, anti microbial, breathes better, and wicks moisture better than sheep's wool. Can't wait to try them under my boots in the snow! We had a restful night's sleep; however, beware that you can hear traffic that's about a half mile away on the freeway, and a few long haul trains do go by in the distance as well. We have background noise apps on our phones and play wave noises which block out freeway noise. It has worked pretty well for us at quite a few places as long as the noise isn't too close. There is also a faint barnyard animal smell as you might expect. That didn't bother us at all, but it might be something to consider if that kind of thing bothers you. Definitely a fun and educational experience and stop!

Went to the annual Cave Creek Rodeo Days which is a 3 day rodeo that takes place at the Cave Creek…read moreMemorial Arena. They have many events, barrel racing, bronc riding, and bull riding to name a few. It's an official ProRodeo a part of the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association on the Turquoise Circuit, 20 rodeos on this circuit in the Southwest that you can go to with this just being one of them. I recommend going Friday or Saturday evening and purchasing your tickets early. I waited and bought my tickets two days in advance and only Sunday during the day was available. Also, come very early before the show starts because parking was full 5 minutes before the show began. :/ You can buy general admission or VIP packages on their website (Cavecreekrodeo.com). We were expecting bbq but that was only for VIP packages. We ended up having ice cream from a local Cave Creek ice cream shop having a stand. The other food was typical state fair food. Also, for restrooms they only have porta potties with santizer, no soap and water pumps. :( FYI No one is permitted to bring in large bags (large purses), or weapons.

Attending a vendor conference in the Phoenix-area, the last night of the conference was a private party on the Desert Foothills grounds. While Phoenix was suffering through an unseasonably cold winter, the amenities of Desert Foothills didn't dampen anyone's spirits in the slightest. From the retro, ranch-like "Welcome" sign, to the warm and welcoming firepits and patio heaters spread generously throughout the grounds, the venue had everything you could ask for in an open air space. Burros wearing cooler saddles entertained--and refreshed--the attendees, and clever miniature buckets containing everything you needed to make s'mores were nice touches. If you did get too cold, the barn area was very warm and toasty, with an impressive light display and plenty of room for dining, mingling, and a live musical performance (one that, with superior sound and speakers throughout the venue, you could hear clearly no matter where you were). Again, everything was top-notch and I'm jealous of anyone that hosts their event here in the future! In the end, I'm really disappointed that I don't live in the Phoenix area as I would love to host or attend more events here.

She really took the lead at rehearsal and made great suggestions for things we should do or try. Our wedding started 15mins later than expected but she was accommodating and helped keep my wife calm in a time of need. The view is to die for and the venue is breathtaking. It is a hidden gem at the moment but will be sold out every weekend soon. We couldn't have asked for anything more and were blown away with how everything was set up. Maggie was top notch and anyone looking to get married needs to get married here.

The thermostats were locked & she came & unlocked them but blamed us for this later! We rented this venue for a birthday party, and while the physical space is very pretty, I…read moreabsolutely would not recommend it. The venue manager, Lorena, is completely unprofessional, and the communication throughout the entire process was a nightmare. If you are considering booking this space, please be aware of the multiple red flags we experienced: Right from the start, Lorena canceled our first viewing appointment. Once we rescheduled and booked, communication via text became incredibly difficult. She would take days to respond, routinely failed to fully read messages, and would either ignore direct questions or respond with completely irrelevant answers. Getting a clear answer on when we could meet to pay our remaining balance was an exhausting process of constant follow-ups. During our initial visit, we were explicitly told multiple times that we could have a taquero set up inside the venue. However, when we arrived a month before the event to pay our final balance, Lorena abruptly changed her story, stating it wasn't allowed due to code issues. While code compliance is understandable, she should have contacted us to let us know about the changes sooner. Fortunately, our caterer was flexible enough to switch to a buffet style. We were told the venue would be open starting at 9:00 AM on the day of our event. When we arrived at 1:00 PM to set up, the building was locked. It took staff 30 minutes to arrive and open up, leaving us and our vendors waiting outside, which threw off our entire schedule. During setup, venue personnel constantly hovered and micromanaged us--complaining about the doors being open while we were actively unloading heavy items and restricting one of the vendors from using the VIP suite we had explicitly been told we could use for storage. Our contract required a $500 refundable deposit, which we paid in cash and were promised would be returned in cash. It ultimately took nearly two weeks of constant hounding to get our money back. When I went to retrieve it the Thursday after the event, Lorena claimed she didn't have the cash and promised the owner (Lupita) would Zelle it to me. After providing my information, Lorena would not respond to my texts for days, or sometimes would not respond at all. Fed up, I managed to track down the owner's number directly. When I spoke to Lupita on Friday, she informed me that she had actually given the deposit money to Lorena the day prior. Lorena had the money since Thursday and had not contacted me, even though she knew I had been asking for it for two weeks. The owner told me I could pick it up that day. When I finally went to pick up the deposit, Lorena was incredibly short with us and didn't even apologize. If I hadn't taken it upon myself to bypass management and contact the owner directly, I would probably still be waiting for my money. What should have been a celebratory experience was ruined by unnecessary stress and unprofessionalism. The venue itself is great for parties, but the venue manager/coordinator was horrible. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

We had such a phenomenal time, the experience couldn't have been any better. Joseph knew everything there is to know about the desert, the plants, and the wildlife. He was able to answer any question we had, while also providing additional information. He was very kind, patient, and supportive while we were learning how to horseback ride (we each had gone when we were kids, but hadn't been on a horse in more than a decade). He also helped us take photos and videos, so now it's very special to look back on our experience and see those photos and videos. The horses were absolutely beautiful and it really seems like Joseph takes wonderful care of them. We had the absolute best time and are so grateful for Joseph.
