You can not come here and not be inspired, encouraged and uplifted. There is a palpable grace that extends from every interaction. The rooms welcome you through the attention to detail and charming design. The meals are carefully planned and executed to convince you not to leave a morsel! The grounds have special nooks and plantings that adorn the architecture beautifully. The more you know- the more you want to know. The history/will from the builder and original owner highlight how grace has always been an intention with this property. Mr. Willis would be smiling down on the Cashells today.

We stayed two nights and found it quite relaxing and fun. It's a great jumping off place for exploring wineries, local dining, and historical sites, but equally good as a retreat location. We did a lot of reading on the grounds...hammocks, chairs, and benches abound. Details like coffee and tea anytime, filling and fancy breakfasts with choice ingredients, all homemade, and an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy made it a bespoke, boutique experience. As we sat listening to the early morning birds from our balcony, identifying all the trees we could spot, my husband said, "Worth every penny!" Agreed.

Make sure you get an email day of with a pin. We stayed in the violetta room. It was nice and we thought the bed and bedding was very comfortable. Parking is not included, so their website is a bit misleading on this. There is street parking that's free but it's 2-3 hours parking. No big deal but definitely misleading information from the hotel. Here's the thing. We would stay here again though. It's more like an airbnb than a hotel. There's no one working at the suites so there's no bells and whistles when it comes to service. But the suites were large, nice, clean and near all the things we wanted to do and see on Davis street. We would make sure we got a room w a steam shower next time (our suite had a nice large bathroom and shower but not a steam shower) and we would absolutely make sure we forced an email w our entrance pin out of them before we arrived.

The steam shower was amazing! Coffee in the room, ice in lobby, comfy bed, great TV channels, large room and large bathroom, and great gas fireplace easy to work. Love the town, boutique shopping, people are so nice, great restaurants, coffee shops and bakery. The staff are so nice and helpful but it is so easy to check in and out they are not needed. Can hardly wait to stay at the 249 again.

Our room was quiet, clean, and the amenities were just what we needed for the weekend getaway. Daniel--the manager--worked with me to surprise my wife with a bottle of sparkling wine that was chilled in the room and a vase of stunning fall flowers. The food at the inn was amazing, fresh, and I only wish we would have also eaten here Saturday night! We enjoyed breakfast both mornings and had dinner Sunday night. During breakfast, they have many choices (all included) and we chose to try the omelet, the sausage gravy, and the eggs Benedict. There were also choices for French toast, a farmers breakfast, and they had gluten free options as well when asked. For dinner, because it was on Sunday it was the supper series that gives a three course option with the main choices being fried chicken or pork bbq. The location of this inn is ideal--a short drive from Richmond, northern Virginia, or Charlottesville. This makes it an easy getaway from the hustle of the city, but also not a super long journey. The inn is also a short distance from many wineries and historical sites. We will be back!

When we got out she welcomed and thanked us for being there. Very Nice !!! That felt good. She and two others were placing flags out on the property for the holiday. Checking in with the front desk clerk was exactly the same welcome. I asked who was the nice lady outside, and she said that's our GM. I was like WOW !!! It was nice to meet someone in her position so kind, down to earth and appreciative. The GM's name is Katrina. The desk clerk was Krista. Both were super sweet. The evening desk clerk was Cheryl and guess what, the same. STELLAR Employee!!! The lobby was bright and clean with the 24 hr freshly made coffee machine. YES !! The elevator, hallways and room carpets could use a deep cleaning or replaced. Our room was CLEANED perfectly with very comfortable mattresses and pillows. Housekeeping really did a fantastic job in our room. Katrina, Krista and Cheryl recommended shopping spots, restaurants and information about the fireworks display. That was AMAZING. Parking lots downtown were filled with people having fun, like a family reunion. Beautiful!!! The breakfast was GOOD !!!! In the breakfast area there was a different lady Sat and Sunday. Both were friendly, walking to the tables asking if you needed anything and if everything was ok. Replenished the hot and cold food, while keeping that area and the seating areas clean. Ok, when leaving, we see Katrina, the GM, again. She asked how was our stay there, also if we enjoyed her town. She thanked us for staying and to please return. Katrina gave us hugs. Sooo sweet. GM's are not usually around and especially assisting the-employees. With Everyone loving their jobs, says a lot for the GM. Thank you Katrina!!!!!

The beds were comfortable and clean. Enough soft pillows that I didn't have to ask for more. Breakfast had a few good options. I did enjoy the sausage gravy and biscuits. Last week the manager called me…read moreand told me the price increased to $300/nite (up by more than $200/nite) because the time of my stay was now considered a special event weekend (due to the University of Virginia graduation). She offered to cancel my reservation or accept the new nightly fee. I had no choice but to accept the (RIPOFF!!!) new price as it was too late to find other accommodations (they didn't exist for many many miles around, more than 50 miles away). Upon checking in we we immediately greeted by a young woman who was clearly learning how to check people in, and by a female manager on duty. When we settled into the room we asked for two blankets because the air conditioning system was too cold on the floor for us and the beds just had a sheet and decorative cover and no blankets in the room. When we went to the lobby and asked for 2 blankets the manager said she'd only give us one. We reminded her we had two beds not one. She pretended to go to look for 1 more blanket in a store room but returned saying they didn't have any more blankets. The hot water didn't work at all, so no shower or bath possible and there was a spider and numerous ants in the room, at least 3 of which crawled on the me during the night and my clothes (gross but not detrimental). The "free" breakfast was typical garbage low quality hotel food - scrambled eggs from a package, greasy sausage and bacon, pancakes. Not food I'd ever eat. Overall I don't recommend this establishment at all.
