Customer support told me that the rooftop tent I purchased needed to be shipped to a location with a freight dock. After calling a day later in making my purchase they tell me that's completely untrue and that they do deliver residentially when before I was told they didn't. I asked if they could change my shipping address and they won't and just made a big inconvenience out of something that I feel could've been easily fixed. I feel like customer support should be a little better than this in the end of the day. I just need to drive an extra 20 to 40 minutes. Complaint: I purchased a powered tonneau cover from Rough Country for approximately $2,500. The package arrived with no visible damage to the exterior; however, upon opening the box, I discovered that the cover plate was damaged. Because the packaging was intact, it is clear the item was shipped in a damaged condition and was not properly inspected prior to being packaged. I immediately contacted Rough Country and provided photos of the damage. I was told on Friday that I would receive a follow-up on Monday regarding a replacement part or a replacement unit. I called them about their Hard Roll-up Bed Cover for my 2011 Ram 1500. They offer theirs for $749.95 with Lowest Price Guarantee written right under their price. I called to let them know that Amazon has Rough Country's same cover for $567.46. I wasn't looking for a price match but I would think they would offer some type of discount. I was looking to add a tailgate assist immediately after discovering this is not an option on the 2025 Ford Mavericks even with the top of the line packages. It's not that it's a heavy tailgate but it is something that if dropped from it's closed position unexpectedly it could cause some issues if you're not paying attention and if you do survive the fall it can't be good for the tailgate or the truck bed. When I started my search I didn't realize how many different brands were on the market I'm sure the number of manufacturers is much less, but none the less there are lots. So after looking at so many and reading the reviews I noticed a majority of them fell short of my expectations and frankly a lot of them were pieces of mass produced junk represented by many sellers that I couldn't even pronounce their names who have storefronts on the most famous online seller, then I found Rough Country and made in the USA - so I bought it!!! I only installed it a few days ago but there's no doubt it's a quality product and should last a long time although I do realize it's a cylinder and the best still have a limited number of cycles - it came well packaged, the parts have a clean finish. I really like the smooth operation and the time it takes to go from fully closed to fully open, some other brands are said to be extremely slow or lack the quality. Extremely poor customer service experience with Rough Country. Returns require submitting an application and waiting 48 hours just to get a response/return label. Their live chat support was curt and dismissive. When I called, the first representative hung up on me without warning mid-call. When I called back to report this, the second representative refused to help, saying 'I don't want to hear it,' and told me the previous rep had already described my 'attitude' to him -- meaning reps are discussing customers negatively with each other before even hearing their side. I never raised my voice or was abusive on either call. Between the return process and this treatment, I can't recommend this company. If you buy from them, be prepared for a difficult experience if anything goes wrong. read more

Ok, I had heard on multiple Jeep forums that RC products were bad. After several weeks of attempting to get sales/tech support I still can't comment on their products because I haven't been able to get all accessories needed to make my installation complete. Let's start at the beginning. I have a RC 3.5 inch lift for my ZJ jeep. I started the installation by putting the rear parts on first. In the process of doing that I decided to replace the rear upper control arms. I call RC and order the arms. Did not know that I needed to also order the brake line mounting bracket because there are no footnotes or anything that alludes to you the customer to get this item(s). Only found this out after I'm in the installation process. So I call them and explain what I need. Ok for $21 and some change we will send you the parts we should have sent you to begin with. So they to their credit send out the bracket via FEDEX. Only problem is they sent one bracket not two as needed. Now I would've thought that the sales folks would've known that each side of these upper arms both need a bracket. But I'm just a nugget customer. So I call them back and explain that I need two of these non catalog listed, no footnote items. Now the guy I talked to this time was very apologetic and helpful and again sent the remaining mystery bracket to me via FEDEX. So I now believe I have all the parts and will proceed to finish the installation. I'm just disappointed in the lack of knowledge of the sales/tech personnel. My experience with this company's customer service was extremely poor. I placed an order on November 21, 2025. The product was backordered and initially expected to ship on November 26. I received no proactive updates when the shipment date of 11/26 passed. I had to reach out to the company for information. The direct response I received regarding the delay was unhelpful and vague: 'I'm not sure about further delays. Less than 30 days after my purchase, the product went on sale. When I inquired about a price match/difference refund, I was told (verbatim), "sorry but can no do a refund on this'" This demonstrates a significant failure in both order management communication and post-sale customer support policies. read more

Shipping was a nightmare. Parts were order on 5/29/26 expected delivery 6/2/26. On 6/2/26 received email saying out of stock. Expected to ship on 6/11/26 then it was pushed back again to 6/15/26. My truck is sitting on a lift completely useless and I can get answers from them as to when I should expect them. They just keep pushing back the shipping date. Running boards I ordered the AC2 white and amber running boards about 2 months ago. They worked great for a week then the drivers side stopped working. Call customer service and was told to check connectionsbecause they have had issues with this product. After doing so they send a replacement part to fix the problem. It worked for about 1 hrs then stopped working again. contacted customer service again and they sent out a whole new unit . Finally got it put on. and now waiting to see if it is going to work . After everything being said and done I spent more money and time uninstalling and reinstalling this product than what I paid for it .. almost double the cost . When asking cus service if the could help with the cost of out of pocket money spent on their malfunctioning product. I was told they could do is offer me a discount on future products. Good afternoon, This has been the worst delivery experience we've had with Rough Country. My driver has been onsite for over 6 hours, waiting for someone to open the gate just to drop an empty trailer and get loaded. The facility scheduled this delivery, yet no staff has been on-site for hours, and there has been no communication or assistance provided. This trip only paid $300, but it has already cost us more than that amount in diesel and driver pay. The driver's entire 10-hour clock has been used waiting on a simple drop, and now the load will have to be returned to Memphis, TN because there is still no one available to open the gate. Please advise immediately on how you plan to compensate for: Detention time Return mileage Driver on-duty time lost Operational costs incurred due to facility negligence This situation is unacceptable and needs immediate resolution. Thought they were good, product made it on time originally (bought some side steps for my jeep). But a few years down the line it's rusting from the inside out and when I mention it to them it's all "that's a finish issue and it's only covered for a year" even though it lists limited lifetime warranty. So they may be good at delivering products, but they do not support them afterwards. The emailing with their support was ridiculous as well. Me: "I noticed some rust on my side steps so removed them to sand the rust off and repaint them, when I did I poured out a pile of rusted metal from the inside". Them: "It's a finish issue and that is only covered for a year" Me: "it's not the finish, the paint on the outside looks fine except for the rust spots I'm cleaning up, it was the inside that was rusting away" Them: "it's a finish issue - since you noticed rust and didn't do anything to remove/maintain it, it's not covered" Me: "I took off the steps and sanded off the rust and repainted them, exactly how much more to 'Remove/Maintain' them should I have done? Rough Country Rolling Tonneau - Design Defect "Unfortunately we have no way to control expansion / contraction with weather change" Response above received from RC when inquiring how to overcome expansion / contraction of the rolling tonneau cover and maintain security via the latching bolts and latch bracket. The cover expands substantially and moves the latch bolt laterally preventing it from engaging under the latch bracket. The top also has small ribs in the aluminum - these ribs contact the top of the latch bracket when out of adjustment, leaving the corner of the tonneau sticking up off the bed side rail. read more

We purchased steps for our new Rubicon and the site said it fit. When we got the steps we discovered Jeep added a safety bar on both sides to prevent the tire from entering the cab when in an accident. I realize jeep changing the design on some Jeeps is not a RC problem but their lack of care was. The eprson contacted was a customer service person named Bronson. On the call he was very dismissive and you could tell he just really didn't think I knew what I was talking about despite me having exact facts about the added support along with the part number and photos. Finally he told me to email the photos and once I did that I got an email back saying "You will have to remove that to install the rails". Just remove the safety support .. no concern for safety or that the site was telling the customers this fits when it does not. It was not until i emailed back letting him know how his lack of concern was dissappointing did he offer a return. Purchased a number of products from rough country based on their claims and their warranty and that they stand behind their product. Had a fender flare bracket fail after going through a car wash with normal brushes. Reached out for some support and was told it would be $59 dollars for a new bracket fastener. When asked about warranty they immediately denied it. I asked to have a copy of the warranty info and zero information has been forwarded . I asked for an email to the CEO or owner to advise about the craftsmanship of their hardware and I have been ignored and told to call the 800 number. It is clear Rough county does not stand behind their products, wants to gouge the consumer for over 25% of the purchase price of the item ($300) for a single bracket. Shameful at best. read more

They guarantee 100% fit but when I received them and installed them, there were gaps all over the slots where the lights were installed. I called them for a resolution and they said that they could only sent me another set of the same brackets. Vertex lifted coils. I have had these for three years now and about 25,000 miles and they are garbage. They are leaking oil and squeek terribly. The squeeking started about a year and a half in and have progressively gotten worse. The worse part is Rough Country's Customer service. I have tried contacting them and submitted everything they asked for and can't get a clear response from them. Now they will not respond whatsoever. If you want a product that last and Customer service that will help when you it doesn't, find a different company. read more

I emailed customer service and they told me to try to adjust the tension (that's all the email said "try to adjust the tension spring", (wasn't apologetic, didn't give me instructions on how to adjust the tension spring)). I emailed them again to ask how to adjust the tension spring but haven't got a response. I called but got put on hold until I hung up.
