Bay Street subway station is located on the northside of Bloor street west and west of Bay street…read more Bay station some entrances attached to buildings like 80 and 110 Bloor West but there's also one on Cumberland and one on east side of Belair south of Cumberland and the other is on the west side of Bay also south of Cumberland. This is a basically your stop for Yorkville between Bay and Avenue road. As far as proximity the two business interchange stations flank Bay station to the east and west (St. George, Bloor-Yonge) and they're not that far from one another. I had to actually use Bay station the other night as it's probably my least used station in the core. Both line 1 on the University or Yonge lines wasn't stopping at either Bloor station (St. George or Bloor-Yonge) due to a police investigation around 11pm on May 24th, 2019. Inconvenient right? It's a bit of a walk from Wellesley to Bay station but it had to be done. The only bus route connecting to this station is a transfer required board which is route 6 (Bay). The top of the route starts at Dupont and Davenport not that far from Casa Loma in fact it's not far from Dupont station. The route travels south along Davenport to Bay and south on Bay all the way to Queens Quay before turning left (east) where it eventually loops around at Lower Sherbourne by the FedEx downtown depot. On the Belair Street side entrance just next door is a business called DECIEM The Abnormal Beauty Company. They want you to know that their business is NOT BAY. Their signage kind of looks like Bay station but is not Bay. I guess they had so many people walk in by accident that they not play on that. Funny...

Ah, Unionville GO station. A decade ago, I took the GO train to and from downtown Toronto for work…read more Unionville is a stop along the Stouffville line. Milliken station is slightly closer to my home than Unionville. However, if I end up missing the last train for the evening, my next best bet would be to take the GO bus, which stops at Unionville station. Buses run all the time. Trains don't run on weekends. The parking lot gets extremely busy at rush hour. It's interesting seeing folks drive in like maniacs, park, and run like their lives depended on catching the train. It's both amusing and stressful. The parking lot is one of the larger ones for a GO station in the area. I rarely got a seat on the train during rush hour when I boarded here. I only got a seat when it was March Break and thought I had won the lottery. I also learned how to stand up and sleep on the train. It's a skill that I am still proud of to this day. This station has a cute building where you can purchase tickets. There are also washrooms. This location is ideal. It's by Kennedy and highway 407. So, if you need someone to pick you up, it's pretty easy to find this station. There's more retail development around the area since I was a GO commuter. I would estimate a five-minute drive, at most, from this station to the local plaza to eat and shop. You can walk it, but I wouldn't recommend it on a snowy day like today! (432)

Since…read morethere is technically only one visible exit for each parking lot, some people run for their lives to get out of the parking lot as fast as possible to avoid the exit parking traffic. It is actually very stressful getting in and out of trying to pick someone up during rush hours. It will take a good 10 mins+ to just get out. You need all lot of patience as there are quite a few rude drivers out there. They really need extra stop signs for incoming traffic and extra exits. Whomever designed this place didn't think clearly with just one visible exit !! The go office is closed over the weekend so no washrooms are available. I could be wrong but I don't see a reload machine anywhere. You can buy a ticket , check, your balance or tap but no reload machine. There are two machine tickets booths - one near by the bus stops and one very the office that are self serve. Convenient but slow. Run for your lives!!

I grew up in the Beaches. Main Street subway station is near and dear to my heart, as it was also…read morethe closest station that I used often. Did you know that it's the only TTC subway station with the type of street in its official name? Kennedy Road station? Nope. Bay Street station? Nooo. Main Street is special. Street was added to avoid calling it Main station, as in the main (primary) station in Toronto. It's funny. I grew up calling it Main station. This subway station is considered a hub, meaning that it has at least two different modes of transportation. It has always had the 506 Carlton streetcar. It also has a number of bus routes. My mom and I took the 506 streetcar to get to the Chinatown at Broadview and Gerrard Street East. It was cool doing grocery shopping on a Sunday, which was an exception back in the day. Most stores were closed. I also went to Chinese school in the neighbourhood and took Chinese classes in the summer on Leslie Street, just south of Gerrard. I have a lot of memories commuting on this route. Main 64 was the bus that I took the most to get me down to Queen Street East. I'd then walk a few blocks to get home. This route used to be split into two: southbound to Queen and northbound to Eastdale. I can still hear my mom reminding me, "Look carefully and make sure you're taking the bus southbound!" Of course, on the rare occasion that we hopped on the wrong bus, you simply continued sitting there until the bus returned you to the station. It would then go southbound. The downside is taking this bus on Sundays. It was super slow and I imagine that things haven't changed. I passed by this station on a Sunday and did not see the Main 64 bus. Figures! I believe that my odd interest with numbers and bus routes started at this station. When you are waiting for your bus to arrive at the platform, there's nothing better to do than to figure out what bus routes do. The lineup of bus routes hasn't changed since I was in high school: - 20 Cliffside - 23 Dawes - 62 Mortimer - 64 Main - 87 Cosburn - 113 Danforth - 135 Gerrard The last two routes were introduced during my high school years. It's nice that they are still alive and running. The pale yellow background when you're waiting for the subway to come hasn't changed. I have memories of meeting friends to head downtown. My friend boarded at Kennedy, so I suggested that we meet by or in the first car going westbound. It worked well. Ah, memories! This station has an elevator for accessibility needs. It's also helpful if you've got a large rolling suitcase that you are moving between the GO station nearby and this TTC station. (55)

I went to see it for the last time on its last day of operation, which was yesterday, November 30, 2024. The station feels the same. I rode the train on the Bloor-Danforth line (it's line 2 these days) from Chester heading eastbound. Even though I don't take the TTC often, my commuter habits and instincts haven't changed. I remembered that the platform at this station is in the centre for both eastbound and westbound trains. It truly felt like time stood still. The signage is the same. Gone are the payphones. Everything else looked the same. I headed downstairs to the bus terminal. It felt the same, but eerie. Most businesses have closed for good, except for Cafe on the Go and Bakery on the Go. I have always liked getting a snack before hopping on public transit. The patties and sausage rolls looked so good from these businesses. What was new to me was the next vehicle information. It was helpful knowing when the next bus was arriving. Yes, the bus terminal is dated. I liked the concept of seeing flashing lights on the At the Platform sign. You could keep warm in the terminal. Once you saw the lights flashing, you headed down the stairs to board your bus. Two buses that I took during my teen years were the following: - Warden 68. It heads north of St. Clair. I took it to get my written driver's licence. Across from that building was a Sears outlet. Both are long gone. - Markham 102. I boarded it with friends to eventually hit Markham Road and Kingston Road. My best friend's dad would pick us up and drive us to their home to hang out. I like that there is a distinction made with Warden 68 (it takes you north of St. Clair to Markham and back down to Warden station) and Warden 69 (it's runs south of St. Clair and back up to Warden station). Main Street station had the most confusing set of buses for Main 64. One was northbound and the other was southbound. Both were 64. It was and still is easy to board the wrong bus if you aren't paying attention. There are Presto turnstiles to tap and pay for your fare entering the station. I also saw a Presto self-serve reload kiosk. Since I was in the subway, I didn't need to use it. As a teen, I'd arrive at Warden and walk across the north parking lot to get to Warden Woods Mall. I was a mall kid and liked this one. It changed to become Warden Power Centre when I left the GTA and returned a few years later before it was demolished. It's now housing. I noticed that there's a south lot. As a teen, parking lots didn't mean much to be. They do now as an adult who drives and needs parking. I look forward to seeing what the new bus terminal looks like. Hopefully, it will be done on time in two years. I'm glad that I got to see everything and relive fond memories before it's rubble. Warden Station opened in May 1968, and admittedly, over these past few years (especially these past few months), the need for a renovation had become more apparent -- yet the Spirit of that Station remained, as a terminus for us Scarberians to use and enjoy (well, sort of). The retailers who graced that Station provided ride-weary travellers with hot coffee, tea, samosas, bagels and other goodies, while waiting for their respective buses. And the clothing store and luggage shop, along with the Gateway place, all added to the overall Warden Station experience. My family and I moved to Scarborough in 1970, and as a car-free family, we used Warden Station regularly. At that time the station was still in its infancy, so it was a "lovely" terminus place to visit (It was the end of Line 2 at that time)! Of course, as a child my perspective was quite different than it is today -- yet the warm-and-fuzzy memories shall remain with me, forever, such as the many times I waited by the panoramic-style windows overlooking St. Clair Avenue East, with my Dad ... Back when Scarborough was a very different place! I visited Warden Station last Saturday (January 4th) for the last time, taking a few photos for "posterity" sake. Fare Thee Well, Warden Station! The New Warden Station shall provide greater accessibility for all commuters, with two elevators.

The newest station on line 1 north of the Wilson Yards and currently the most northern station on…read morethe Spadina side of line 1 also the terminus station on the west side as well. The previous terminus (Wilson) has the multiple parking lots and much more parking since it was the previous end of the line just on the other side of the 401 at the much busy Yorkdale complex. Downsview station located at the south east corner of Allen and Sheppard is where Sheppard makes that dramatic detour around the Downsview airport runway near Chesswood. This station does have a north side entrance as well as a kiss and ride pickup area with actual parking spots instead of a rotary type hub like Finch or Kipling. Access to the parking and drop off area is accessible at the access road just east of Allen on the south side of Sheppard and access to just the parking lot is also available on the east side of Allen south of Sheppard. The parking lot at Downsview seems rather small but with room to grow if needed. Now that Downsview will no longer be the terminus station for this leg of line 1 after the extension to Vaughan is complete it's yet to be determined if more parking is even required. The station is has a large surface area for buses on both sides of the bus depot. The bus depot services quite a few bus routes from here: 84 Sheppard West begins west of Sheppard station (at Yonge) along Sheppard and crosses at Allen while remains on Sheppard to Weston road where it loops back around at Bradstock and Rivalda before heading back east. 101 Downsview Park is a very short route that simply goes around the Sheppard hump turns left on John Drury to Carl Hall road into the park. 104 Faywood runs between Downsview and Wilson stations. It takes a route from Wilson from Ansford to Faywood which turns into Wilmington north of Sheppard to Finch Ave, goes west to Dufferin and then turns to Kennard and down to Wilson Heights and then back to Sheppard to Downview station. 105 Dufferin North runs into Vaughan and requires additional fare when north of Steeles avenue. This route runs north on Dufferin and loops at Confederation parkway and then east on Rutherford road before turning back south again. 106 York University runs west along the Sheppard hump and then north on Sentinel road to York University main campus in a clockwise direction meeting The Pond road at six o'clock and Ian Macdonald before turning back to Sentinel going south. 107 Keele North has many variants but for the most part the 107C is the main route which makes its way west along the Sheppard hump through the industrial area near Tuscan Gate toe Keele and then north as far as Teston road in Vaughan. Same as the 105 additional fare is required north of Steeles avenue. 108 Downsview main run 108B runs west on the Sheppard hump to Arleta avenue and up Driftwood north of Finch to Strong Court and then briefly along Jane street before turning right back onto Driftwood again before heading south bound. 117 Alness runs up Allen/Dufferin to a dedicated bus roadway that runs parallel and north of Finch Ave to Alness up to Steeles and bakc down Dufferin. This route around the roadway and Alness runs clockwise before 3pm and counter clockwise after 3pm. As for the train platform it's long and wide with an arched roof. The trains on line 1 of course are wider than the Bloor/Danforth line 2 but the design of this station lends to more space and feels much more open than a majority of the older stations in the TTC system.

This is probably the nicest subway station in Toronto. At least it will be for a couple years until…read morethey add the York U extension. The ceilings are high, the decor is modern, and there is tons of space. Even when the station is packed you still feel like you have room to breathe. The convenience store here is an actual store that you can walk into, unlike the counter style stores at most stations.

There has been ongoing construction in the area for over a decade, but now it's very easier to navigate inside the station and in/our of the station. The station is wheelchair accessible and has elevators and ramps, making it easy for everyone to access the platforms. There are designated waiting areas and accessible washroom. The station is conveniently it's connected to shops, restaurants, food court and grocery stores. The TTC staff are on-site, available to answer commuters questions.
