They did do the roto-rooter thing, but also changed the line from the wall valve to the toilet. After they left, we discovered there was a leak at the valve. It took an act of congress to get them to return (they said some leaking was customary!). When they arrived, they said it was a problem with the valve. They did not explain why the valve was not leaking when they arrived, and then was leaking after they connected another line to it. They refused to solve the problem. I had to call a plumber at my own expense, who simply tightened the connection (3 minutes) and solved the problem. I should not have had to pay a separate plumber to fix a problem caused by Roto-Rooter. Unacceptable. read more

A 2"x3" pumice stone got stuck in the toilet. Paul from Roto-Rooter used a heavy auger to break up the stone. It had been there for 4 days and Paul said such stones would soften in water. I guess it did. The price was much less than 3 other companies would have charged (they had dispatch fees). Thank you Paul. read more

They disrespectfully allow their ugly beaten-up trucks to be parked in residential neighborhoods shamelessly advertising their company while neighbors have to stare at that awful eye sore! I pay taxes for a wide street and scenic views and ROTO ROOTER has ruined that for me with that UGLY van I have to look at every day. We have a 1950s house with a 1950s plumbing system. When sewage starting backing up into the driveway after a recent snowstorm, we also found out that our driveway drainage system isn't actually one--the prior owner had avoided putting in drainage by jury-rigging a line into our sewer clean-out, and it'd probably been backing up with leaves, etc for a long time. I requested service online on a holiday and Roto-Rooter was really fast to respond. All of the techs were patient with our old house and labyrinthine plumbing system. Thank you to Jimmy, who came out first (holiday afternoon) and helped me look for the clean-out, digging around in our yard for an hour free of charge. Then Jason came and figured out that our drainage pipe actually was a clean-out. Still no charge yet. Ruben followed up with another visit the same day--really nice and helpful guy. Estimate at this point was over $500 for the work, which sucked but seemed fair in my past experience with plumbers, considering the crappy system and years of backup we were dealing with. Finally, early the next day Paul and Cisco showed up, were here for an efficient hour, and got us all squared away for significantly under estimate. Thank you so much to all of you guys--you were quick, knowledgeable, honest, and professional. Will definitely be using ABQ Roto-Rooter again (hopefully not too soon). read more

Had a great experience with this provider. They were on site within minutes not hours. Took care of the problem and fixed. It was so season that they don't up charge any fees up to 10pm. Our water heater started leaking one night this week. I called Roto Rooter first thing the next day. Within 2 hours they were at our house assessing the work needed and got the work done by the afternoon. We have a big heater that was a challenge to move. They put 3 guys on the job and got it done. That were very knowledgeable and friendly workers. We felt like they had our best interest in mind. They were not cheap but well worth the cost with the quality of service they provided and their promptness. I will use them again. read more

You would think that any service provider with the right tools and knowledge could fix sewer problems; however, oftentimes the missing ingredient is a dedicated professional. Working within Roto Rooter, DAVID GARCIA is the magic that made it all work. After accepting a contract to sell my home, multiple major plumbing issues came to light and I needed to get them all resolved asap. I couldn't even get other companies to call me back! David arrived the same day as my original request, assessed the situation and gave me the expected cost and timeline. While the cost was insane, the job was all done and completed not just on time, but early. David handled every detail -- the city permits, talking with the impacted elementary school, even setting up/taking down roadblocks when the city didn't show. He really went the extra mile. And, he even did this without necessitating after-hours (i.e., $$$$$$) work! One poignant example of his dedication was when the street cut asphalt was poured and needed to cool... despite the orange barrels and "road closed" signs, people kept driving thru, so David stayed late and parked his van at the site and protected the spot from 4-7pm like a mother hen brooding on eggs. Also, when a sub-contractor (for the venting) didn't show, David took on the job himself and completed it fabulously! As if all that wasn't enough, David went above and beyond to advise me on how to navigate the claim process with the authorities. Truly, my only complaint is the very high cost which I think reflects Roto Rooter's business model more than David's skill, dedication and ability. Why am I writing the review? Sure, they can clear a drain. Sure they will call you to make sure your going to be at the location. Will the technician show up at the assigned time window? Nope. I'm a small buisiness and don't live there and don't have a backup. I have 1 sink and it was clogged. I also have a schedule. This company doesn't respect the clients time. I was the first call of the day and when I asked the tech what happened about why he was an hour late he said he had to get parts. First of all, my call didn't require parts. And secondly, when I called the office the had no explanation about why he wasn't on time. The tech had no apologies Or cares for being late. And of course this isn't the first time. I was willing to give this company another chance for acting the same way the first time I used the about 18 months ago. I was desperate this time and I knew they would do the drain clearing job. They answer the phone 24 hrs a day so I guess that's how they get you. To be fair, why should he care? This is a franchise. Why would he care about customer service? I signed up for the protective plan to use every week if I needed. Last month when I needed service the Mrg. called me and complained about how many times I used the service the previous year. I was refused service for the clogged sewer line because I never requested a camera inspection. I never received a quote to repair the line in question and was told I had to replace the entire line for over $8000.00. Had to do some trenchless work for a line that ran under our bedroom. Older home with addition and "orangeburg" pipe. Got 3 quotes and did 3 interviews, read reviews and went with Ed and his team at Roto-Rooter. Very responsive, on time for each day with communications in advance, this turned into a 3 day job and they cleaned up each day. Can't say enough positives about Ed and the team facing multiple obstacles and working past them. End story - we have a new drain and no damage to my bedroom! On 2 different occasions, one of their men came out to see why the toilet was not passing solids through. Both men did a halfhearted push of their snake and stated there was nothing wrong and left. The toilet continues to not pass any solids. read more

We got a same-day appointment at 2:00 on a Monday when our other plumber cancelled our 10:00am appointment at the last minute. Marco came and was here for a couple of hours. The cost was somewhere in the $240 range. Snaked the drain and stuck around until we were confident it had been cleared. I understand that this is a bit pricier than other plumbers, but I'm not sure other plumbers deliver - I JUST had this snaked out by another company, who was in and out in a few minutes. Roto-rooter said they'll probably have to come out again because I live on the river and it's just roots, roots, roots here! BUT, part of their cost is a one-year guarantee! I was very clear as to what I needed and my situation and they said no problem we can send out some, when they arrived the first person was friendly, the second gentleman who arrived was rude and stated we never do that kind of work and we won't, we can not help you with that problem then tried to give me an estimate for work I did not need done, I would not recommend them for any type of work ever due to this experience. read more

I don't know where to start. First, it doesn't matter if you set up an appointment online because you have to talk to them on the phone anyway, they don't trust their website. Second, I had something set up for 12-4 pm, right? at NINE AM somebody's banging down my door expecting me to get out of bed after three hours of sleep and they just won't stop banging and calling. I set the 12-4 time because I am NOT up at 9. They had no reasonable expectation of me even being home but now thanks to them I'm on three hours of sleep and who knows if they'll actually be back within the *agreed-upon time*. It doesn't even matter if they can fix the problem at this point or how reasonable their pricing is, they've been such a pain to work with since yesterday that I would pay twice as much just to find someone whose website works and who shows up sometime *inside the scheduled window*, and when you don't answer the door three hours early they don't keep banging it down like the daggone Gestapo. I don't know if the dispatcher reset the time incorrectly from what I chose online or what even after we discussed it out loud on the phone, but this just can't happen. I gotta work too, guys, and I need sleep to do it. So I guess the takeaway here is that neither their website nor calling works. Maybe I'm lucky they even got the day right, I don't know. All I know is I have a toilet that doesn't work and I need someone RELIABLE to fix it. This won't be found here. read more

I am sorry to say this was worst experience ever. We have been having trouble with both toilets over flowing. The guy came out and listened to our problems. Then flushed both toilets said everything looks good. So why over flowing?! He said may we r using too much toilet paper or our poop is to dense n maybe eat more salads! OMG did I really hear this? He adjusted float so it would let in less water when flushed. Here's the kicker: I counted them n he said 6 times we should replace both toilets n they sell them n even gave me quotes on prices. We used this company twice for a leak. Both times, the leak returned within a couple of months outside of the warranty--the most recent being 4 months past the warranty. The work was $2200 each time and they would not work under the warranty! We were also told by our new plumber that the work was definitely below par! Beware of this company! This company in Albuquerque has the worst customer service and they are priced way too high. They would not set up an appointment with me and were very rude and vindictive. The ladies working are not professional at all. We set up an E-appointment and no one called me back after one day. We never received a call from the manager when we asked to deal with him after and bad call with the receptionist/sales person. A bsurd customer service. I called because their web site says they are a dealer for a product called Root X (to kill roots in a drain line). Asked if they sold Root X to the public. I was told that they did. They gave me instructions on how to find them and I told them I would drive down from the heights to buy some. When I arrived at the address - no signs - went in the wrong business and wandered around another building until a man told me they were upstairs. Went up and was advised that they do not sell Root X to the public - they have to apply the product! Ridiculous. Avoid. read more

We encountered a backed up shower and tub on a Sunday. We contacted the Rio Rancho number and within one hour a service technician was at our door. Manuel was very professional and kept us informed of what he was doing every step of the way. We also had the pleasure of working with Mike when he came to the house on the same day and used a camera to look at our lines for additional problems or issues. I experienced the best service with Roto Rooter. I was happy with my free estimate. They got the work done quick!

They said that they would come in a two hour window in the morning. They said that they could not give an hourly rate over the phone and would have to a free quote on arrival. They did not show up during the 2 hour window. When I called, they said it would be another hour. I called 2.5 hours later when no one had shown up and they said someone would be there soon. The plumber showed up a total of 5hours after I expected service. He walked in, looked at the drain and told me that it would be $230/hour. TLC Plumbing told me over the phone that they charge $95/hour. I told the plumber that and he said he understood. I don't see how they think that they are worth essentially 2.5 times the hourly rate of their competitor. My guess is, they make you wait all day and by the time they get there, you are so fed up and tired of dealing with the issue most people just pay the extra to be done with it. Do yourself a favor and call TLC or someone else right off the bat. read more
