I took my mother to see Dr. Stephen Stache February 15, 2023 because she fell out of bed and her right hip hurt and there was a bump also. Dr. Stephen Stache is arrogant, aggressive and argumentative man. My mom asked him 3 times to look at her hip and he dismissed her saying "Don't bother I have the X-Ray right here it is Gluteal Tendinitis." He gave her a pill for pain and recommended physical therapy 3 times a week for 4 weeks and should go away in a year. It was SARCOMA CANCER GROWING ON HER HIP!! If he just looked at her leg and sent us to the right doctors maybe she would still be here. My beautiful mother passed January 8, 2026 at 9:56pm. She was so beautiful, successful, smart and had many talents I'm so heartbroken. Please stay away from this doctor he doesn't know what he's doing please get a second opinion. My mother would complain about hip pain and I would just say Dr. Stache said it's Gluteal Tendinitis and should go away in a year. It was SARCOMA CANCER GROWING AND IT SPREAD TO HER LUNG! Saw podiatrist at Rothman Orthopedics in Bryn Mawr. The appointment was rushed. It was about 5 minutes. Found out her advice was totally wrong when I went elsewhere. I also had a similar experience at Rothman a few years back. Also the staff was not helpful. All of these reviews here say something when you see their low score. read more

Came to get spine injection with Dr s. No parking nearby. Had to walk with pain for 10 minutes and the front desk won't let me have a seat to fill out their paperwork or show me the area to get the injection. Asked many times and they were busy watching YouTube on their phone. read more

We went back the next day to meet with the surgeon, but instead were met with another doctor who said the surgeon was "on call" and who then tried to tell the same things we already knew. She then looked at me like I was stupid for expecting an answer from her as to if my son needed surgery or not. The same answer we had been trying to get for some time. She finally went and found the surgeon, who came in and said "So we are on the same page, someone told you that you needed a surgeon to tell you if surgery was required or not?" YES! He finally looked at the MRI and told us that no surgery was needed. I also heard back from Reviews@rothmanortho.com who asked for more info and promised to look into it. I provided what she asked for, then waited several days for her to say, "If you need my assistance in the future please let me know." No answers, no explanations, no apologies, no "We will not bill you for the unnecessary visit.", nothing. read more

I can't really say if the doctors are good or bad because the appt process is so bad. I made an online appt but never got a confirmation text or email. I tried to call to see if the appt was made but could not get through. I just assumed there was no appt. The morning of the appt, I get an email to sign up for the patient portal. By then it's too late to go to the appt. So I guess I missed it. I tried to call and after a few tries, asked for the offered call back. It's been two hours. No call back. Horrible scheduling/customer service. I also noticed the appt was scheduled for 10 minutes. That's it? No wonder they don't care If you miss it. read more

Surgery and post surgery was great! Then I used the Rothman inhouse rehab which I do not recommend. It seemed they were interested in progressing slowly to keep the rehab going as long as possible. And the bills had lots of services broken out for my visit. Like going to see a doctor for an annual physical and getting billed separately for each aspect of the physical looked in right ear $100, looked in left ear $100 etc. I have excellent medical, had a $20 copay for each rehab visit and got bills for additional $30 for each visit. I stopped going in February, felt my rehab was always way ahead of them after the second visit. And I got another invoice today, April 2 for another $30. I plan to call the office tomorrow to complain. read more

Dr. Asif Ilyas is a hand surgeon at Rothman. He is also the consulting hand surgeon to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Eagle's completed his Fellowship as a Harvard fellow in Boston. Not only is he brilliant, he is also very personable and kind. Highly recommend him. read more

I've been battling a knee condition for over 3 years. Dr.Rubenstein listens and is very informative. I receive what's called Invisco. It's similar to oiling the knee but not like a Cortisone shot. I'm about to get my third round of injections. Definitely better than any other treatment I've been provided but I still experience severe pain most of the time. A very good doctor who explains things is helpful. I recommend Rothman Orthopedics. Don't attempt to deal with their billing department that needs some cleanup although they finally addressed my issue after 5+ attempts to contact them. Manager Maria was great handling it after complaint. The Dr. Is the primary reason I rate them highly. read more

My review is solely based on the physical therapy services rather than physician practices. I was encouraged to see a certified hand specialist for ongoing carpal tunnel like symptoms by one of the doctors from Rothman. As Rothman has a physical therapy department, it was easy to streamline acquiring the services I needed. The receptionist was courteous and assisted me through the registration process. After registration, my appointment sadly went downhill. Upon entering the back area where therapy is held, my therapist was rather indifferent. She was more concerned with speaking to another client who she was familiar with than properly assessing my case. Throughout the course of my visit, she continously told me to "stop playing video games" and "video games are not good for you". She proceeded to inform me about her son's career change which she disapproved of. Funny enough, the cause of my hand issues were not of the thing she was reprimanding me for. She barely looked or touched my hands throughout the visit. Moreover, she placed weighted heat pads on my hands without any heat. Those were placed with incredibly old and tattered towels which made me uncomfortable given the current climate. While I was strapped in, she went about chitchatting with collegues and speaking ill of one of them in front of patients. I felt increasingly uncomfortable as I saw her wipe down a medical bed surface with another old tattered towel and not disposing of it. Once I was done with the non-heated pads, she came back and informed me to purchase my own medicinal oil supplies and to bring it in for her to use. I'm sorry but I am paying for your services and you can't even provide me with the required resources you need to perform your job effectively? Needless to say I am not going back and would advise those in need of physical therapy to look elsewhere. read more

Little by little, Rothman becomes just like every other big healthcare company. You can't call and make an appointment at lunchtime because everybody takes lunch at exactly the same time. You can't make an appointment after 5 o'clock because they're closed. I understand this with a small office, but this is a major corporation at this point. Everything is computerized, but they don't have a waitlist for someone to pick up an appointment if another patient cancels. It seems like we have all the inconveniences of a big healthcare company and none of the benefits. Way to go Rothman!! read more

I saw Dr. Charles Langman in the K o P office and my first visit was great. He was knowledgeable and empathetic; no problems. Second visit,-he was rude, condescending, impatient and downright mean spirited. I have NEVER been spoken to or treated like this before by ANY doctor. I have a broken ankle, and been in significant pain for 3 weeks. I called the office to explain this, and asked to make an appointment prior to the suggested 6 week visit. I wanted to be assured that I was healing and on the right path to recovery., and had not reinjured it. They were kind and said they would make that appointment with X-ray and consult. No problem! But, that did not turn out to be the case. Dr. Langman walked into the room and was annoyed to see me and his first statement was,' why are you here, and what do you want? I told you to come back in 6 weeks, not now!" I explained my angst, and he continued in an angry and demeaning manner. He became increasingly argumentative throughout the visit. I expected way more from an institution like Rothman. I am now in search of a new doctor. If you can walk, walk away; if you can run, RUN! read more

Dr. Denny is a great doctor for sports medicine advice. He advised me on my knee and has given great advice to help with my recovery to running again. The place is very clean, and efficient. I never have to wait long upon arrival and they have all the necessary equipment for tests/X-rays. The only reason why this place loses a star on this review is because the parking situation is very frustrating. You have to pay for parking in the garage or for valet. The garage fills up quickly with the hospital being nearby and the valet is always crowded. I waited for over 30 minutes for getting my car to leave. If the parking situation was fixed, then this would easily be a 5 star location. read more

I took my mom here recently for an appointment with D. Greg Anderson, an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spinal surgery, because she has been experiencing back pain for several years now and was very interested in surgery. The appointment was a complete waste of time and disappointingly brief (15 minutes after 1 hour of waiting). Dr. Anderson the second spinal doctor we visited so we know how these appointments should go-- it's a discovery period for the doctor and he did little to "discover", no questions-- only suggestions that she should go on meds and try therapy (I'm sure this is an obligation, but we made it clear a decision was made). The doctor wrapped up the disappointing visit with a script to get x-rays-- we already had an x-ray and MRI completed. His brevity made it clear that he was disinterested in our pursuit to increase our quality of life and only interested in seeing his next appointment. The medical business should be more than about cycling through appointments without any sense of empathy for those that come to these doctors in pain; often for an extended period of time. We are unlikely to return for a "follow up" and would go so far as to advise those who ask to go to a doctor that is interested in helping people, not accumulating co-pays. read more

Used the docs here twice for injuries in my old age (I'm no longer in high school and my body reminds me every once and awhile). I saw Kevin Freedman for my shoulder. He seems like a good doctor that knows what he is talking about but have you questions ready because he is very busy. He comes in, talks 1000 mph, and he's gone. Most recently I saw Charles Langman. Charles had a med student shadowing him. Both men were very nice, easy to talk with and helpful. They weren't in a rush and they made sure to answer all my questions, including ones I didn't think to ask. read more

I went here with a family member who was having some shoulder problems. We were seen within 48 hours by a non-surgical doctor who got us an X-ray and sent us for an MRI. The follow up was within a week. He recommended we see a surgeon to see if we should go that route. The surgeon was able to see us within 48 hours of that appointment and recommended physical therapy. Later I learned that because they see so many folks, they aren't really pressured for surgery as the option. I was glad to hear that as if we can avoid it, that's great. The office is very streamlined and the doctor was very good about answering questions, both about the long and short term. Parking can be a challenge so park in the garage and walk across the indoor bridge/tube onto the floor for Rothman. read more

Dr. Duncan has been doing my foot injections for a little over a year. I cannot say enough great things about the Bryn Mawr location. We take walking for granted and there were days I suffered horribly. Dr. Duncan, using ultrasound technology was able to pinpoint the most severe areas and provide comfort I have t had in a long time. Thank you! read more

Long term follow up: Dr. Good performed bilateral anterior cruciate ligament grafts on my knees 20 years ago. I just climbed the very steep Huyana Picchu mountain at the Machu Picchu ruins in Peru (elevation 9,000 feet.) More importantly, I made it back down! My knees have never felt better. read more

Second time I was told I simply sprained my ankle and I didn't...third time I've waited an hour and just left without seeing the doctor. I had meniscus surgery in Nov. 2018 and am still having pain. My knee has stabbing pain up the side then buckles. My physical therapist called and reported it and they promptly called to have me come in, I had a x-ray and it didn't show anything else wrong except bone on bone arthritis which I already knew. I was given a cortisone shot and told that's all that can be done besides a knee replacement. This is what I'm mostly upset about, them knowing I work a very physical job hands me a total discharge paper to go back to full duty and to stop physical therapy and walks out of the room. I was stunned! How do you totally stop everything when there is still pain? I get there will be some pain, I'm not expecting miracles. I'm not saying the Dr. did anything wrong with the operation, I feel I shouldn't have been a total discharge and I still need therapy. Now I'm going to have to work in pain with no help. I don't know if it's because it was a workmans comp case but I couldn't be more scared about the pain that I'll have to work with. I still needed PT to strengthen my knee. Went there for my husband in May. We know that the copay for specialist is $20. However, they charged ($40) $20 more for X-ray while checking in, without doctor's order for an X-ray! And, after seeing doctor Charles Langman, doctor didn't order for an X-ray and X-ray was never done! In case, if doctors order for X-ray, that should be covered by insurance. Never heard and experienced charging patients for X-ray at the front desk without doctor's order while checking in!!! Brought up this issue of extra $20 at the front desk before leaving. The lady said they cannot refund that day and will send later. Never heard from them yet. Rip off from patients?!! Called the number (267-339-3689) today, Friday, June 2, 2017, provided here with response from the Rothman Institute. It goes directly on message. Left a message with my phone number. I had long heard good things about Rothman, but should have read the reviews. I now understand why their website protests they are about quality over quantity -- because the opposite seems to be true (as is mentioned in many reviews). The doctor I saw had no interest in me as a patient/individual problem, but offered cookie cutter/quick solutions (injection, if that didn't work a different type of injection). When I asked what i should expect from the injection, he simply said for my pain to get better (it didn't -- it got worse; perhaps this is a short term thing and it will feel better later, but a little guidance from the doctor on expectations would have been nice -- that, however, was asking for more interaction than he was interested in). The pain had migrated from one joint to a neighboring one but the doctor assured me that he only worked on the one joint and if treating the one didn't help the other, then I would need an appointment with the specialist for the other joint (I don't know how they handle situations of interaction since the practice seems to believe the parts of the body exist in isolation). Asked for advice about a brace for physical activities but was told the shot should fix things and if they didn't, I would need an appointment with yet a third person -- I guess their brace specialist for this one joint. Regret my appointment. Argh...after I took a hot bath for the increased pain and stiffness, I went to the Mayo Clinic on what to expect from the shot and it said among other things to avoid taking a bath or using a hot tub for 48 hours. Something I wish the doctor had mentioned when I asked about the shot -- but again, actual interaction and sharing of info wasn't his interest. Indeed. The only info he did share was misleading, telling me I should quickly quickly feel relief when I'm now reading I should expect increased pain and stiffness for the first 48 hours and then relief afterwards. I hope so, but this lack of and inaccurate guidance just reflects more poorly on the whole visit. read more

I was treated like a problem not like a patient. Do not see Sarah Tyndall for physical therapy. Appointments would take an hour and a half. The second time she was on the phone with AAA for half of my appointment and had to leave my therapy to go meet AAA in the parking garage. The last and final time I tried to attempt therapy she said I could not warm-up on the bike because she had to eat her sandwich and that was the only time that she had time to eat lunch was during my scheduled appointment. She would not give me the full name and number of her manager for physical therapy. Not a pleasant or professional experience at all. read more

Dr. Pedowitz is an excellent ankle surgeon. He listens carefully to his patients and spends as much time with them as is needed to accurately diagnose and treat the patient. My last 2 (of 8) ankle surgeries were performed by Dr. Pedowitz and both were successful. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of an ankle specialist. read more

I had a partial knee replacement with Dr. Lonner. Besides the appointments being rescheduled for two out of three appointments, everything ran smoothly at this office. Much better than the Chestnut St office I was used to! My knee Is now pain free 95% of the time and I am back to my normal activities less than six months after surgery. read more

This is my first review with Yelp. I am one who absolutely never writes reviews about anything, although I do enjoy reading other peoples' reviews. With that being said, I felt the need for others to share my experience with Rothman. I have been playing soccer for most of my life and started seeing right knee problems. Never had I had serious injuries with my legs. Always very strong and can run for miles. This was not the case at the end of 2016. I started having issues with the right knee, specifically the patellar tendon. I tried everything from rest to strengthening, but little luck. Finally I saw Dr. Kevin Freedman after a recommendation. The process was awful with Rothman. Every time I had to visit, it costed $. The first visit was so fast followed by a recommendation for PT. So basically I was about to waste 2 months of my time knowing that PT would not fix my problem. Again, I tried rest and PT. But of course, doctor's want to follow their protocol. So 2 months later I was back at the office in the same state and paying another copay. The next suggestion was for a MRI. Brilliant. It only took about 2.5 months to get to this point. Meanwhile professional athletes get a MRI the day after their injury. Yay! And I understand I am not a professional athlete, but it is the principal of adhering to the injury and wasting people's time. Anyway, finally got the MRI and had to return to the doctor's office. I think this was about 3 months since my first visit. Result of the MRI was low grade tearing of the proximal patellar tendon. There was more to the description, but that is a summary. Doctor suggested: 1. I live with it 2. I get PRP 3. I get an operation. I decided to go with the PRP, since it would be less intrusive. Finally got the PRP in another appointment and it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I got the PRP in both knees. Took me almost 20 minutes to walk to my car and barely made it home. Very bad experience. Doctor said I should see a difference 4 to 6 weeks. It has now been 8 weeks and my kneeS are worst than ever. Yes I said KNEES! I got the PRP in both knees, and it actually messed up my left knee as well. Go figure. My good knee went bad! In summary, it has been about 9 months now, and my right knee has gone from bad to worst, and my left knee went from good to bad. This has been nothing but a nightmare of an experience and a very depressing situation, as I have not been able to go on the pitch. I wake up at night now if my knee is bent too long. It even hurts to touch both knees right now. I cannot squat all the way down without feeling extreme pain in both knees. Feels like my knees are going to explode. I am going to see another doctor. At this point I am almost 99% certain I will have to get an operation on both knees. If anyone out there is going to get PRP, I strongly discourage it. It seems like nothing but black magic and voodoo. And not to be bias on my experience, I am sure Dr. Freedman is a very nice guy and I just got unlucky with my experience so far. It is just unfortunate that I have wasted so much time and have experienced nothing but bad results. read more

I traveled to PA from Maine on a recommendation to see Dr Mark Kurd for recurring back pain, sciatica, etc. The visit went fine and Dr Kurd ordered an MRI to be completed in Maine, offering to have my results reviewed with me by phone to spare a trip for a visit that wouldn't include more than dialogue of the findings. MONTHS later, I have not been able to get anyone on the phone to discuss with me. Based on my initial visit w Dr Kurd, I would be shocked if he knew the behavior and lack of professionalism of his staff. I have found his team to be flip, argumentative, uncaring and non-responsive. As a professional myself, I would be horrified to be represented in the way Carmine, in particular, represents Dr Kurd. Ultimately, I called today to have my scans mailed to me I order to find someone to help me w my back. I explained my difficulty in getting a call back and was once again spoken over. No apology. None expected. Use this practice if you don't care to be treated well, or treated at all for that matter. The worst experience at a medical facility I have ever had. Terrible. read more

Appointment was at 10:30 am and waited in the waiting room for nearly two hours. Attempted to leave on several occasions but was told that it would only be another five minutes. After nearly two hours of waiting in the waiting room they called me back to only wait another 30 mins in the patient room. Absolute worst experience I've ever had. Visited 2/9/16 Had a great experience at the Rothman institute in Bryn Mawr. From the beginning to the end. The Front desk receptionist were great with bubbly personaities made me feel welcomed. I was a patient of Dr. Langman he is just the sweetest man you could meet, very patient and he is ginuene in caring for the patient, he lets you know exactly whats going on and does not try to pacify you with false outcomes. The X-ray tech was a doll as well. Then the young lady I met with to get me my custom braces was very nice, also very patient with me as I did take up some time decideing whether I wanted to go forward with the braces, She helped me weigh out the pros and cons, and ultimately I decided to get the braces.I did not feel like I was being rushed not one time through out my visit here. This is a great office never had a bad experience here. Overall great experience keep up the good work. I would definately recommend this location. read more
