We stopped in here after visiting The Craft Cupboard across the street. We loved the artwork and the historical displays in a spacious area with clean restrooms. The shop had a nice selection of cheese, preserves, and other goodies for sale. We ordered some fresh-made deli sandwiches, and they were generous in portion and the perfect picnic lunch to take to a nearby park. The service was prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend a stop if you are in the area. read more

After years of driving by this place, we finally stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. It was amazing and all of my cheese dreams came true. The shop has many coolers and cases filled with all kinds of amazing cheeses. Every type of Swiss cheese imaginable. We even found a blueberry cheddar! They also offer some fresh baked goods, German breads and many dry goods. Very friendly staff, mostly Amish as it's located in the heart of Amish country. I have been meaning to come here for years and finally had the chance. Cheese, cheese, and more cheese and some other great things! Not all the cheese is made there, but it is still great! I had a hard time picking out what cheese spread I wanted because they had so many different options - chunky bleu, toasted onion, jalapeno, swiss and almond, spicy beer, aged asiago and many more. I already sampled the horseradish spread and thought it was delicious! They have artisan breads, candies, made to order sandwiches, and other tasty treats. We bought cheese slices, cheese spreads, and some dessert treats, but do hope to come back to try out their sandwiches. If you are not sure of what type of cheese to buy, they do have a table of some samples. If you happen to be near Middlefield, you should check this place out. read more

We visited during a time when the museum wasn't open and felt like we missed out. We did get a chance to sit in a real Amish buggy. Ultimately, we were there to visits their store and buy some cheese. As someone who has visited Switzerland and eaten cheese made in the Swiss tradition; these guys get it right. We bough a medium size block and was more than happy with the flavor, texture and consistency of the cheese...simply delicious! The store was spacious and well organized. Lastly, the people/attendants were friendly and helpful. If I lived in the area and wasn't a tourist from CA, this would be the only place I'd buy cheese! read more

I'm an Amishophile. (New word, people.) Amongst the clippety-clop of horse hooves and the piles of excrement left in the streets, sits the Middlefield Cheese House. It looks like a cute, little Swiss chalet parked amidst the corn fields of Ohio's Amish country. Many different choices of award-winning cheese. Jams, jellies, apple butters, local honey, candy out the ass, maple syrup out the ying-yang. It's like Rumspringa for life in this joint. If you're feeling really dorky, they even have a museum with antique cheese-making equipment. And you know that special peanut butter that people talk about? They have it here. It's called "Peanut Butter Spread." It's basically peanut butter mixed with marshmallow fluff and tons of HFCS. Brilliant! Damn, I love the Amish. read more

My fiancé and I went haven't been to this spot in a year or so. We love the beef sticks (although not as much as when my parents took me here as a child) and the cheese especially the Swiss is on point and a perfect blend of creamy and Swiss taste. We like the mixed bagged of cheese they sell and they do a good job of giving you a variety of types to appease your cheesy desires. We also got the sandwich they sell for five bucks with many cheeses and meats, you can even make your own combo if you desire. Be careful of Amish along side of the roads walking and biggies and using their scooters for safety. Overall even my brother in England wants me to send him some food he misses from the cheese factory. Only if other Amish areas had hot spots like this. read more

I always love visiting the Cheese shop and sticking up on cheese and crackers. They keep such a great variety of both its nice to always find something unique to snack on. They used to keep a wide variety of other goodies as well but have recently scaled back and I think I like it that way. What I love best is to have sandwiches made here for lunch. The deli is great and it's a fun way to have linch I the go while out running errands. My sister and I call them car picnics! We get sandwiches and cheese and it makes for a great break from fast food! If you have time and want to do something educational take a walk through the museum where you can learn about the history of the cheese factory and how cheese is made. It's not very long and kids enjoy it. There's also a couple of places for photo ops with Amish buggies and horses (not live ones) read more

Nooo....! Middlefield cheese is no longer!! Gone are the multiple gourmet foods and candies. Actually most of the shelf's are gone. The artisan breads have arrived. So have some tables to sit and eat, since they now sell sandwiches made to order. The tour of the cheese making process is still present. Sad to see the change. I will not be coming back anytime soon. It used to be a special trip. Now I can pick up all of the items for sale at most NE Ohio grocery stores. read more

Now I know that this is an Amish run business so they will never see this review but kudos to them for running such a seemless business. I am from out of town and will go there to buy cheese in bulk to satiate my need for amazing cheese. Their swiss cheese is always spot on! I highly recommend the Baby Eyed Swiss cheese!! If you do buy in bulk, ask for the frequent purchase card. When you buy a certain amount, you will get a free pound of cheese. Will be back for ore cheese for sure!! read more

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! Not because of the products, the cheeses are fine but because of their BAD shipping logic. If you buy a product that you want shipped to the "Western States", ie, Colorado, California,etc. for some unexplainable and undisclosed on their website reason; they only ship to those states on MONDAY and TUESDAY each week. So if you place an order after close of business on Tuesday then your product (gift) will not even be shipped until the following MONDAY and then they allow 3-4 days for delivery. This means your gift for your Mom's 50th birthday 4 days from now, will not even be delivered for 9 or 10 days from when you placed your order. That is VERY BAD customer service!!! What difference should it make to them. I am sure that FEDEX probably comes into their store every day to pick up orders so why wouldn't they just hand the completed order to them when they come in - instead of waiting for a week for the next Monday or Tuesday to even ship your order!!! I ordered a gift package (Order # 2426) on Tuesday Evening, December 26th, online and when I called to check on it was told it would not even be shipped out until the following Monday or Tuesday, January 1st (I know national holiday) or 2nd.. As of Friday, January 5th (10 days after I ordered it) it had not arrived in Colorado yet. I repeat - the cheeses are fine but their shipping logic leaves a lot to be desired!!!
