So here I'm on the fence. I ordered the Jack's Dining Room Special: Porchetta, burrata, grilled…read moreeggplants, sun-dried tomatoes, hot sauce, and pesto. In general, I am not an eggplant guy, but since we were out here, I just decided to go for it. Also, I didn't really know anything about this place so I was not really sure what to expect. I thought maybe Jack was just some random worker. I didn't realize he was some influencer that I've actually watched his videos on Instagram.
Back on track, I had been looking for any place to get Porchetta in a sandwich. This time I didn't really have any time pressure. Inconveniently this was right in front of me when we walked out to the counter, so I ordered it. Anyways, I will start off by saying that of the sandwich places we went to on this trip, this had my favorite bread by far. As for the internal stuff, that's a little bit where it falls short for me. In the moment, I kind of liked it, but the more I ate the more, I realized it fell short of what I was hoping for.
The Porchetta itself was hit or miss depending on the bite. Some bites were pretty dry. Other parts moist. In all honesty, I think I liked the idea of the Porchetta more than the actual Porchetta and I think it was all of the other condiments that saved the sandwich by keeping it moist. Now two questions, would I come back here definitely, would I order this sandwich again absolutely not if that's how their Porchetta is.
We kind of shared with each other, so I got bites from my other friends sandwiches and those were pretty good too. I really think it's the bread that makes me like this place so much. Based off of my experience does this place deserve a 4/5? It's pretty close, but I think the bread was just enough to bump it over the top.
Keep in mind it's a small sandwich shop so there's no space inside, but they do have a limited amount of outdoor seating.
