Such a cute shop, with friendly staff. I love that they have a whole section for terrariums and…read morethey sale little bags of everything you need to get started with making your own. I wish every plant store had something like that!

In their eleventh year, Thyme In The Garden is more than a nursery, although it's a peach of a…read morenursery too. It's a family run place that oozes charm and affection. The place is alive, man! Asheville has no shortage of magical spaces that kind of transcend space/time when you wander them. This one is a doozy! Walk down the stone earth entry to the grotto below and tell me you didn't just schloop through an unseen hole in the veil only to emerge into someplace much further than it looked from "out there." It's like the TARDIS of nurseries, it's bigger on the inside. A bit north of UNC Asheville on Merrimon, the only negative thing that I could mention is that parking is a little tight and close to that road, but that's a pretty common gripe in the 828, but I had to mention it for credibility. I mean this is a Yelp! review fercryinoutloud it can't all be pixies and rainbows. They have pots. And plants. Indoor and outdoor types. Annuals and perennials. Gifts and creativity abound, if you can abide. The staff that I encountered were big on hospitality, helpfulness, and that Southern Appalachian humility that I respectfully embrace. We left with a giant clay pot and a half-price Aloe that is entering the rehabilitation porch at home tomorrow at sun-up. Oh, there is a chicken coop just a bit farther out back, past the little creek and through the back greenhouse. Totally worth a peek while you're meandering about. From the looks of it, this place is evolving and growing. I can't wait to see it next time I come. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

TERRARIUM? MORE LIKE TERRARI-FUN!…read more Today I attended a Star Wars themed terrarium event that I saw on social media. I had never heard of this place before, so I was very excited to try it out! The events are very well priced, there is no up charge from their normal pricing. Staff is friendly and good at giving advice. I asked for help deciding which air plants to pick, and the employee gave me advice including that the Medusa plant only blooms once in its life, so if you pick one with a bud it will bloom and you'll be able to experience it in your terrarium! They hold events and workshops here, often, and I heard from the employees that they are working on getting alcohol at this location, and they will have events including "Tipsy Tuesday." I had a great time, and I would love to come back on a date. I'd recommend this spot and building a terrarium for any hang out with friends or loved ones!

Found a workshop on here a few days ago and booked it through eventbrite. I wonder if you could…read morebook directly to avoid some fees because they were a little bit costly. Overall incredibly smooth experience though, so it was totally worth it. I decided to book the jellyfish terrarium workshop and it was really great. We arrived around 11 AM Sunday and were greeted promptly. I got a Mimosa and although it was pretty tiny, it was a nice little add-on for $6. Lazy working did a good job only giving a little orange juice when I asked. I read online they didn't have alcohol but it looks like they have a few small options if you want to go that route. Win! All of the materials were set up and ready to go. They gave a ton of options, and I appreciate that the class was lead with direction but a lot of flexibility and demonstration. The person who was leading ours was always there to be helpful and give some guidance, but really let us do our own thing. There were a ton of supplies and they all seemed pretty high quality. If you get the small terrarium, you get three plants which was plenty especially for a smaller area. The big terrarium was quite a commitment, but looks cool as well. We just didn't really have the space. The shop itself is not cheap but it's definitely high-quality. They have a ton of options from hanging plants to glass bottles and such. I also saw a ton of classes and workshops lesson online which were around $25-$50 each. It seems pretty fair when you're getting an entire experience and tell me to go home with. Would be a great gift for somebody or something to do with friends. The one we did ended up being about $35 a person with fees but that's all very reasonable Overall an excellent experience and very fun. Super nice staff and space.
