A year later 2026, the new B gates have open to the right of TSA with an escalator taking you up like a stairway to heaven. What's upstairs? Two gates, restrooms, a large waiting area, and Amigos FAT restaurant with basic coffee offerings. What else was new was no more ticketing to enter paid overnight parking. I entered from the parking garage and I meandered around to find a spot. The parking garage was completely full, but I found a closer spot so we're good. When I came back from my trip I remembered not ever getting a ticket. So when I got in line, I noticed two huge screens are now installed at the toll booths. When I got to the booth, the attendant asked if I paid online. I didn't know this was an option. What I noticed on the huge screens was my total & a barcode. The attendant took my payment instead and confirmed how many days and hours I was parked. I asked how did she know that, she stated the system scans/tracks my license plate once I entered the parking lot. Fresno is moving with the times adapting this latest technology. No more tickets. See you some more on Yelp 2026

Somehow it's more miserable inside than outside today -- and at least outside there's a breeze. I have never sweated this much just sitting in an airport. Fresno, you can do better. The excuse that "someone has to go on the roof to adjust the temperature" might be one of the weakest explanations I've ever heard. I'm not sure who thought anyone would actually believe that, but here we are. Maybe the next upgrade should be making the terminal comfortable enough for passengers to exist in it without needing a towel.

I know this airport is getting renovations and a new terminal will be available but as this review…read morestands for the current condition of the airport, I hope the newer terminal building can improve traveler experience. First of all, the facility feels outdated. I couldn't find a place to plug in. The waiting lounge was just a few office chairs. When I had to get on my return flight to LA, I arrived two hours before my flight. The terminal door was locked. While I had to call the airline to unlock the door, I feel this shouldn't be the case. There wasn't any beverages or food places attached to the terminal either. Also, while not the fault of the airport, having your flight delayed here is the worst since there's much to do keep you entertained less your electronic devices are completely charged

AND (ONE OF) THE SMALLEST AIRPORTS IN CALIFORNIA GOES TOO.... DUN DUN DUN MERCED REGIONAL AIRPORT!!…read more Just kidding, I googled it and this one isn't the smallest, but no joke it's pretty small. I was traveling by boutique air from Merced to Los Angeles and checked into this one. My experience was sort of balanced. There wasn't a wait everything was very smooth from check-in, to security (which is basically one small scanner), to get on my flight there weren't any problems. There was even a small table for me to get some work done while I was waiting. However, there aren't any restrooms in the room after you get past security. Additionally, when I used the restrooms they had, there wasn't any paper to wipe my hands after washing, so I had to use the toilet paper. Overall, this airport is really convenient for me and its services aren't too bad and definitely remind me that not all airports are super crazy busy international ones.

I was practicing my flying skills and decided to go eat there with a friend (who also happened to be my instructor). We landed on a well maintained runway and taxied over to the public parking area. When we got out of the plane, we were only a 2 minute walk from the café there. The café was a really neat place for those of us who love aviation. There are plenty of plane models, pictures and art work to keep the mind occupied while awaiting food. I ordered basic diner fare (chicken fingers) and my friend got a cheeseburger. The food was great and a fair price. Service was great and I could tell it was a local place filled with local people. Free advice: Look for those places and you won't be disappointed. After lunch, we strolled 2 minutes back out to the tarmac, jumped in the plane, and off we went. I was really happy and impressed with Porterville Airport, and I think I'll drop by there again next time I'm out flying around the valley enjoying the day. All the above being said, it was clear to me that the restaurant is a hidden jewel. We were the only plane parked outside, so I'm sure the majority of the folks eating there were not flying. I want to encourage you to stop in, since it can also be reached by driving your car there. Next time you are in Porterville, give the regular fast food a rest and try something better. Go to the airport and have a fun and yummy meal at a place packed with aviation and local history.

We were told that the Holiday Inn was the closest place to eat, but they were closed. There were no options close enough to walk to. We inquired about a crew car. One of the linemen decided that simply telling us they didn't have a crew car wasn't informative enough, so he explained that having a crew car placed the FBO in a position of incurring liability if we had an accident. I didn't mind the lecture nearly as much as I minded the tone. Stuck with the vending machines, I asked if they could break a $20. I was told they could not, which seems shortsighted to me if you are an FBO with travelers coming through and your only food option is the vending machines. The other pilot had a few singles and deposited them into the vending machine. It registered the credit, but did not dispense any items when the button was pushed. The credit disappeared. He tried again with the same results. When he asked for a refund at the desk, he was told they couldn't give him a refund. We left hungry, but didn't miss that there were Del Taco bags of food on the linemen's desk. If these guys worked half as hard at solving problems as they did at dodging them, this review would be completely different.
