If you're staying at the Radisson Blu and want to try some local cuisine and, of course, have some beer at a beer garden, look no further, literally.
The restaurant is just across the highway in West Ettlingen. You get out of the hotel, follow the road to the left until where the road turns right, continue until straight a few meters and you will see a foot path on the left that slowly rises to a foot bridge. Cross over the highway and follow the path down and you will see the restaurant on the left.
The restaurant is known for their schnitzel and they have many different toppings, such as, with tomato and mozzarella, or with mushrooms, etc. I had it stuffed with ham and cheese, like chicken cordon blue but with a schnitzel. This is served with a side salad and your choice of fries, spaetzle, or potato wedges. I got it with spaetzle and it came with a goulash sauce. Although it was on the salty side, it went well with the spaetzle. The spaetzle here was made like how I've eaten before, like short and stubby noodles with tapered ends with a chewy texture.
The outdoor seating area is somewhat large with nice tables and locals look like they're having a good time. There are other items on the menu, like steaks or hamburgers, if you're tired of German food. Beer selection is a little better than the Blu as they also have import bottles.
They open everyday except Monday. 11h-23h. read more
